The shop is not really aimed towards children but more to those interested in arts, literature, history, cookery and languages to name but a few. They have a great selection of books on offer and attract a lot of students. Quite often when I was a student, I went straight towards the computing section where they always had a range of books related to software development and hardware. Their prices are usually cheaper than most high street stores like Waterstones but their selection sometimes dated. The shop is perhaps a little tight for comfort and you will have to be on your feet to flick through a book. However, it is a fabulous place to buy hobby books or a good place to browse if you have time on your hands.

There is a varied selection of fiction and non-fiction books, both paperback and hardback, at pretty good prices. There is usually some sort of offer on as well, such as three paperbacks for £10. In addition to this, there is a section dedicated to Liverpool - its authors, history and tourist information, as well as the usual tat to do with The Beatles. Not an ideal place, if, like me, bookshops make you need the loo (and I know I'm not alone here - something about browsing bookshelves just makes you wanna go!!) as you need to invest some time if you're gonna find anything valuable. The staff did seem friendly and helpful. My check out experience was quick, and unlike some other small newsagents, they didn't have a problem giving me a receipt. Pricing was competitive in most areas, but some essentials such as milk were a tad overpriced. Many of the items which were priced at a competitive rate, had to be as many of the branded items had prices on the label which is what some brands do to protect their pricing strategy. There are no parcel facilities here which is surprising but there are other choices for this around Warrington such as Royal Mail at WHSmith, DPD at Millets, myHermes at Great Outdoors and Collect+ at the Golden Square Information area. Useful store to have in Warrington if you don't fancy going to the larger ASDA supermarket nearby. 3*

Having moved to premises just around the corner, Pritchard's is now housed in a shiny new store which remains relatively tidy. The staff are familiar with their large stock and can pinpoint your required text in seconds- or not as the case may be; texts that are out of stock can be ordered in as I learned recently having reserved a substantial tome of Victorian poetry: fun times. With the competition of internet based stores and the numerous faceless chain stores, I think it's fantastic to see an independently owned locsl bookshop succeeding.

I do however, like the Crosby store although the Formby seems to have more going on, more book signings etc. Whenever I have used Pritchards I have always found them really good for getting books in, that they don't have on the shelf. If you order before 4pm they pretty much guarantee it in for the next day. Pritchards have a good range of books - arts, medicine, law, sport etc. I have mainly bought language books from them and have ordered a few in, which arrived just on time for my course.

There a books packed on shelves from floor to the high ceiling for the depth of the shop. Outside there is a 10p bookcase with some interesting titles. The sign above the door reads "Books purchased from Single Items to the Largest Library. All Subjects, All periods, 16th Century to Modern Paperbacks." They also purchase classical and jazz LPs and CDs but the first floor department is not open yet. There are all manor of books to browse from specialist subjects to old annuals. They have recently been refurbished but the bookshop has an real old fashioned feeling.

It is a mystery that I bothered to walk in after so many years I've passed this shop. Outside the entrance currently has a collection of books on sale for as cheap as 10p each. I don't know anywhere else where you can buy books for 10p! Most of these books are in adequate condition and of course readable. Inside is a different story. There are stacks full of books that feature many genres such as classics like Shakespeare and plenty of other literature including poetry. Plus, if that's not enough to tempt you, then they have a variety of music CD's. For example, jazz, classical, blues and LP's too. All of these items are affordable and if you have any unwanted items, you can trade in for cash depending on the type of book and condition. This is what's great about the shop as both sides can benefit. In terms of the layout, it is rather narrow and the lighting is a bit dull. Other than that, you can't really argue much about the items they sell. There is something for everyone here and it could be your lucky day if you come across a valuable read.

Warrington Market runs Monday to Saturday in Warrington town centre, a couple of minutes away from…read moreGolden Square Shopping Centre - it has both an indoor and outdoor market, although the outdoor area does seem much more popular in terms of business but I just don't see the hype sadly - with huge crowds, queues at certain stalls and people just walking past fresh produce smoking (I hate the smell and sight of smoke especially in a market which is supposed to be quality - surely areas like this should have a smoking ban like indoor locations are smoke-free in the UK?) The indoor area isn't much better it feels a little old - the dirty floor and horrible, rancid smells inside don't help - as soon as I entered I was forced to persevere past the horrible wind as you entered which blew the horrible smells right into your face which was simply vomit-inducing. It really does seem the growth of supermarkets which has had a bad effect on markets has affected this one - reviewers state this place was even in decline around ten years ago and by the looks of things, it seems to be surviving by the skin of its' teeth and it's really far from the place it once was. 1*

That and the fact that more than a third seem to be empty means that the market is getting worse not better. It seems to be going in the direction of the rest of Warrington town centre, Downwards. Well done to the handful of good stalls on there. Notably the Game and Fish stalls along with a good veg stall. Mr Tasty brightens the place up and now has the largest stall in there. If a fraction of people in Warrington stopped using the supermarkets all the time and paid a Weekly or even Monthly visit to the Market then it may be able halt the decline and improve. The Stall I like include the following. African/Jamaican produce Caribbean Hot food store Cheese store Sausage Store Mr Tasty Butchers and cooked/roast food Veg store Game Store Fish monger For others there is a sports/angling store A cafe' Lots of clothes, shoes and bag store. The only slight gripes are that you don't get a very fair price if your selling or trading, but I suppose thats what ebay is for!! Also the second hand cd's are massively overpriced for old tatty and not very rare run of the mill stuff. Literally cheaper in HMV for a new copy!! Still.if it vinyl your looking for or if you just want to take a trip down musical memory lane, this is the palce to be.

This branch of WH Smith is situated within Liverpool's busy Lime Street Station…read more It mainly acts as a newsagents stocking items such as magazines, papers, chocolate, crisps, sweets, soft drinks and sandwiches. They also have a small range of books and cards but this is quite limited compared to the larger stores. The soft drinks are quite expensive compared to other nearby stores as are the sandwiches. It seems that they feel they can charge more due to the store being so convenient for people travelling from the station. The store is always busy and can sometimes have big queues as there are only 2 tills. The staff work hard to get customers served quickly and are friendly and helpful. This is a good place to pop in before you get a train.
