But Emily Cullen at The Larko Group completely changed that perception. After having a baby, I wasn't actively planning to return to work and was hesitant about re-entering the workforce with a gap in my work history. But Emily saw potential in me that I hadn't yet recognized in myself. She connected me with an opportunity at a medical device manufacturing startup in an operations and administrative role. Following the company's acquisition in 2024, I stayed on--what began as a leap of faith ultimately became the catalyst for a long-term career path. Since then, I've grown into a mid-level corporate role with exciting opportunities ahead in the medical device and technology industry. I'm incredibly grateful to Emily Cullen and The Larko Group for helping me take such a major step forward. If you're hesitant about working with recruiters, just know there are genuine professionals out there--and Emily is one of them. One was over six years ago. I temped for them for over a year through many different assignments, and I was regularly given work. They knew I was reliable and they could count on me to treat the client as though I was extension of their company. That entire time I was looking for a permanent position, and they were able to get work for me regularly. Eventually a job opened up that was a great fit for my experience and where I wanted to go that happened to be at a company I had temped for previously. The company was filling the position through Lakeshore, and the company knew they like having me when I was a temp. So, I was a shoe in! I got the job, got experience, and got promoted into different positions within different departments. Flash forward five years. I find myself in a different job that eventually became a completely wrong fit for me. In December of 2009, I left that job with no plan other than trying to temp for work again. I called several connection and had called multiple placement and temp companies including Lakeshore. Two months later a job came up that Lakeshore knew was a good fit for me, and that I would be a good fit for the company. I was hired for the position after doing the job on a temp to perm position for a short time. Here it is a year later since I've been hired, I'm extremely happy to be in the job I am since it is still a great fit, and I love working there. I owe this to Lakeshore. There are a number of temp companies in Chicago. There are also A LOT of temps looking for work right now. Lakeshore sets themselves apart by the effort they take to find the right job for the right person and vise versa.
