Pinewood Studios is quite possibly the greatest place on Earth. Or at least, the greatest place in…read moreIver, Bucks. This is where the movies get made. It might not be in Hollywood, but Hollywood often visits. The key is to play it cool. The fact that you're standing next to Tom Hanks, or the fact you've snuck onto the Bond Set -- these mean nothing to you, that's how you have to play it. If you want to belong, if you don't want to get kicked out, then you need to pretend it means nothing, pretend you're not excited. Yep, even if you're standing next to Natalie Portman. There's something a bit magical about Pinewood Studios. Even though it's essentially just a big bunch of warehouses, the filmic history is impossible to deny. Some of the greatest pictures of all time have been shot here. What could be more fabulous than to see a big-budget crew working out a scene, or some dude chopping at some wood which will end up being part of a set on an oscar nominated movie. Whatever you're reason for being at Pinewood, stay cool. It's just the movies :)

I love the Pinewood Stages! Been here a few times. The history the grandness of it all. I've been…read moreto some of the other properties in the pinewood family; Shepperton and Longcross. But if I had to pick one as my best friend it would be here. The history of these stages is in print at a book sold at the general store on the lot. I'll buy it as a coffee table book for sure. Sure it's cold and dreary London, but standing in the shadow of the infamous 007 stage makes you forget. Did you know that that stage is the largest of its kind and has burnt to the ground and been rebuilt twice? One of my favorite movies was recently filmed there. I am grateful that I do have a job in the film industry that can take me to hallowed grounds like these. I only wish sometimes that I was on the other side of the camera; next lifetime I will work on that. The Coture is the canteen that serves up decent food if your production is catering. Milk and Honey is a great little coffee shop next to the canteen that also has a wall of candy behind the counter I want to put in my face. If you find yourself here and for a length of time that requires you to do laundry, bring your clothes to the stages and speak to the garment care department. They offer reasonable prices for loads of laundry. Just to give an idea it's about £30 for a week and a half of dirty laundry. A fun thing to see is the double decker diner. It's a double decker bus that has been converted into a diner. I love it. I think I'm the only person that gets excited about see the DDD at lunch. This is an experience I wish I could share with my family and friends. The people, the sets, the artistry, so much to admire. Its hard to appreciate the work that is done to make a movie or how to convey that to others when they aren't intimately with the makings of films. I'm here for a long stint this time round, so I will be soaking it all in!
