The rich history of the library was captivating, and the stunning architecture of the buildings was not to miss. Natasha, our tour guide, was an absolute gem! She guided us through the majestic halls and took us behind the scenes, explaining the lavish history along the way, always with a warm smile. Her enthusiasm for the library was palpable, and her extensive knowledge made the tour even more fascinating. One of the highlights was seeing the Duke Humfrey's library. Such a beautiful and historic building with crests of the University of Oxford covering the ceiling, and Kings, Queens, and Bishops along the aisles. The Radcliffe Camera and The Divinity Schools were not to miss as well. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oxford.

With extra funding from both organisations, around £1.8million will be spent on improving the library. Building work has already begun on the third floor of the library, which means that there is no public access to this floor during the day, so the multifaith room is not available for use. Work begins on the second floor of the library on 17th November, then the whole library will be closed from 25th December 2008 to 20th April 2009, to allow work to be done on the first and ground floors.

If we reserve some books in a few days they will be available. There is a self scaning machine so we can do it if there is a rush on the counter it works neatly. There is also internet facility available on first floor for adults and even in kids section. Even photocopier is available in library which is easy to operate of our own. During college (as a history major), it was frequently joked that you haven't really researched in a library if you haven't wound up making out in the stacks... well, after a day of research, I enjoyed some fun pictures and 'making out' with my husband, making this a thoroughly educational stop in our London adventure.

When you are in the library, you just ask for a pin for your library card and with this and your library card number you can log on and find out what books you have outstanding, when they need reviewing and as mentioned previously order books. You can also search books, and find out what libraries in the borough have the book you require.

I only live around the corner from this Camden library branch, which is Holly Lodge. And even up to this day, I will always use the services at Highgate Library, for hiring out DVDs, PC printing and the photo copy machine. And I even reserve books and DVD from Highgate Library. Highgate Library is literally right next door to Highgate Cemetery, the place of Karl Marx's tomb.

One of the reasons I like this library is because it is very central. I wouldn't make a special…read morejourney to go to a library, but because it's right by the shops I canjust nip in for 5 minutes. This library has a lage collection of CD's and DVD's which I know some do not have. Even though it costs 50p to a £1 to get them out, it's still a lot cheaper than buying them. In the last couple of years they have really tried to make the Library a nicer place - they have a lot more activities for children now and they have also put a little cafe in. The availability of computers is also good. I feel this library is accesible to everyone as they have a lift to reach all the levels.

Only members of the University of Cambridge and Academic staff and research students from other universities can use it. Even if you can't get in, it is worth having a wonder round the site to be impressed by the sheer size of it. And why not keep walking and have a look around the Sidgwick site of the University of Cambridge - home to the Arts Faculties of the University.
