I agree with all of the excellent reviews I've been reading about Hitch King and Adam in particular. I don't do reviews, but felt compelled in this case because the service and knowledge truly exceeded my highest expectations. First of all their prices are great. Secondly, they know what they are doing and are incredibly honest. I purchased a hitch from etrailer for my 2015 Dodge Charger that was "guaranteed to fit" and the install video showed a relatively simple install. Of course, that's not how things work in the real world. The video was for a 2014 Charger, and the muffler system is different. As a result, Adam and his colleague (Alex -also, super nice and helpful guy - just not as experienced as Adam) had to remove my rear bumper. Next, when they got the hitch ready to install, the bolt holes didn't line up. Adam immediately calls one of the head engineers from Curt (the hitch manufacturer) on a Saturday morning at the guy's home and proceeds to trouble shoot the hitch vs. my car (checking VIN # details etc.). They correctly conclude that it is indeed the right hitch but that it must be bent, which isn't obvious as their is no visible sign to the hitch or transportation damage to the box. This wasn't Adam's first rodeo, and he quickly bent the hitch back so that it would fit, and then proceeded to finish the install. I honestly don't think any other place could have got this job done. After all of that, he didn't charge me anything extra from the original price he quoted me. You just don't find service and honesty like this anywhere. I'm proceeded to purchase my Thule Bike Rack from him and get my wiring done. I've recommended a good friend to bring his Grand Cherokee there and highly recommend anyone reading this review to do the same. read more

I understand businesses can be busy but if you're too busy for a new customer, why lead someone on, act unprofessionally, and treat them like a 2nd class citizen? I called Hitch King (Northern Blvd) because they were the closest trailer repair shop around me and I needed to weld skid wheels to my trailer. I spoke with Adam on the phone and I discovered I was calling on the day they were closing this shop and moving to Floral Park. He told me he was going to call me back but he never did. Understanding it was moving day, I waited a few days before trying to reach him again. When we spoke the 2nd time, he remembered me but told me he was very busy and told me he would call me back shortly. After waiting about 2 weeks, I decided to go to Hitch King in person because they had such good reviews and I really didn't want to travel far. I discovered there was a Hitch King in New Hyde Park so I went there thinking I would be able to schedule a welding appointment and maybe not have to deal with Adam. There I discovered Empire Truck Rental was part of Hitch King and Adam was the trailer expert. The rep at Empire called Adam and he remembered me again and told the rep over the phone he would call back again. I waited about 30 mins before she called him again and again he said he would call back. I don't think I will ever understand why it was so difficult to schedule an appointment with Hitch King or be simply told they didn't have time for me. I will never bother with Hitch King and/or Adam again and I hope other people are not treated like how I was. read more

Adam, the owner of Hitch King, is extraordinarily generous with his time, supremely knowledgeable and experienced with hitches and bike racks, and puts the customer first. Don't be put off by the modest location (trailer in a parking lot). I had recently installed a hitch on my Volvo wagon after being told my old bike rack would fit with no problem. However, when the hitch and the bike rack didn't work together, I floundered around calling e-retailers, bike shops and sporting goods stores all to no avail--until I called Hitch King and spoke to Adam. He offered to wait on July 4 weekend until I made the trip from the Bronx to Flushing, offered to sell me a new bike rack for a totally reasonable price compared to the prices for bike racks I had seen on line and from other retailers, but also explained that he could install a simple bolt-and-spring mechanism that would make the old bike rack compatible with the new hitch, drilled wider holes in the metal to make it all work and called a nearby hardware store for another part I needed that was missing from the old rack and told them to have it ready for me when I arrived. Bottom line: I ended up spending $25 and keeping a perfectly good bike rack out of a landfill, rather than spending $200 on a new bike rack that Adam COULD EASILY HAVE SOLD ME. He ended up spending a half-hour on my miserable little problem. He is a guru and a saint. Trust him with any hitch/bike rack/trailer problem or challenge. read more

I just bought a new 3500 chevy with factory 5th wheel prep dealer promised hitch next day as they also own adi. Gmc and Chevy North East distributor for factory accessories and parts. As I am signing paper work being rushed the salesman tells me that they won't have it till next week. The management and parts department were well aware that the sale was dependent upon the hitch because I was picking up new fifth wheel camper in 2 days and going to a pre booked pre paid camping trip. The dealership was at a total loss of knowledge or capacity to help. I yanked the parts paperwork from their hands and called "Curt hitch " main number spoke with them and tech dept. As they are exclusive for factory prep system. Very nice and helpful guys however they could not sell to me but only to a certified dealers. THEY SAID TO CALL ADAM AT HITCH KING IN FLUSHING QUEENS HE IS THE BEST. I CALLED ADAM IT WAS NOW 6:05 PM HE ASKED A FEW QUESTIONS VERIFIED MY NEEDS. HE CALLED ME BACK AND GOT MY HITCH FOR ME ALL SET UP AT 6:20PM. THIS GUY CAME THROUGH LIKE A TRUE PROFESSIONAL. EVEN $300.00 CHEAPER THAN THE DEALER. You sir saved a $150,000 camping trip and probably my marriage because 3 hrs before I talked to you I owned a perfectly good truck with a hitch. read more

For years, our snow was plowed by our gardner at a very reasonable cost. This year, he discontinued snow plowing service due to the high liability insurance costs. After calling local plowers, found their prices outrageous, hence went to a snow plow installer out on Long Island, NY where I live. He told me that, at age 77, I'm too old to be snow plowing and declined to work with me. I then found Hitch King, located within 10 minutes on my home. Spoke to Adam, the owner, who promptly researched and found an appropriate hitch and snow plow for my 2000 Ford Explorer. Turns out it was a MEYER HOME PLOW Model #24000, which was specifically made for homeowner use. He priced it out within $100 of several other sites that ship the unit, but require the recipient to self install. Bottom line, within less than a week the hitch was installed, the plow mounted. He, patiently, instructed me on its operating procedures, answered all my questions, and that night I was plowing the snow off my driveway and my neighbor's as well, while sitting in my nice warm car, using the remote controller to raise and lower the plow. Since I knew I wanted to rent a UHaul trailer for my hitch, i initially went with UHaul to install the hitch on my sedan. After some initial phone calls it seemed that many UHaul places couldn't be trusted to do an acceptable job. I came to this conclusion based on their lack of keeping up with my calls, the part they ordered for my car was not correct. While there are some locations that do a great job, many places are subpar. I chose HitchKing as the one owner was nice over the phone (Adam) but in person he wasn't giving of general info, and I had to be very specific on each question - not very friendly and volunteering on any info relating to hitches. While the price to install a hitch from UHaul is about $340.00, the HitchKing price cost me $550.00. I figure I was getting a better install. Not so. I happened to meet someone who had a uHaul trailer and so asked them and they were very happy with their installation done at the UHaul Flushing location in Queens. I expected that for what I paid HitchKing I would get the electrical box mounted on the outside. All I got was the cable and plug coming out from the trunk. In retrospect I wish I had saved over two hundred dollars and gone to the Flushing location. read more

I never thought I would find someone who can do what you are doing for me. Your company is a God send to me.. No other company offered to do the Hitch for me they said simply we don't do that...it can't be done.. You need an outdated old fashion hitch.. But Hitch King came through for me. The hitch they installed looks great. The installation time was pretty short, less than an hour. Also, while I was getting my hitch for a Smart Car there was a Mercedes Suv getting a hitch installed as well. I would have a lot of confidence in Hitch King in whatever vehicle you give them. What I eventually put on my hitch was a cargo carrier basket, really worked out great to have that extra storage for a Smart Car. I might want to also get a pull behind trailer to pull a 35 foot yatch with my Smart Car (haha just kidding), but definetly will look to Hitch King what they suggest maybe for a custom trailer. Part 2: As I was trying to install the wiring for my trailer, my girlfriend ask me why I didn't I take it to Hitch King to save time. Trying the wiring myself, I was getting a right turn signal when I turned left haha not good. I was able to get in there and they got me set up with new wiring and they knew about the electrical system of my car, and they really saved the day time wise because I was picking up my new trailer that day. We had looked at several other installers to put a 5th wheel hitch and brake controller into our used pickup, but once we spoke with Adam at Hitch King, he beat all the other quotes, immediately ordered a high-quality hitch at a reasonable price, and got us a time to complete the install within 2 days. He followed up the day before to confirm the install time and let us know he had the parts in hand. The Flushing location was easy to find, and Adam and the crew were really friendly, even offering to give our family a ride to the place where we were passing time during the install. Adam devoted 4 straight hours to expertly complete the install, packaged all the extra parts for us, and took the time to explain each component to me (including the use of the brake controller) before we drove it off the lot. If there were a 10 star rating available, I would give it to Adam at Hitch King in Floral Park, NY. Many years ago, Adam installed a hitch and snow plow on my Ford Explorer. They served me well for all the ensuing years until my Explorer reached the point to where the repairs were getting too costly to continuing them. Long story short, Adam quoted me his usual fair price for a new hitch for one of my other vehicles, but he them offered to find me a reasonably priced service station to do the necessary repairs to my Explorer to keep it running. He did this knowing full well it would cost him the sale of brand new hitch. I doubt there would be many other facilities willing to be as forthright and caring for customers as Adam was to me. read more

I purchased a Curt trailer hitch for my 2012 Nissan truck...ad indicated that it fits perfectly. Not True! I spent time trying to contact Amazon...no luck. I called Hitch King and spoke with Adan and WOW what a great guy...knowledgable, patient, and customer focused! He told me a couple of "fixes" I could use...and they worked! I was able to install the unit successfully. Curt should be ashamed of themselves as I read so many reviews that indicated that the customer would have to retrofit the unit and they haven't changed the manufacturing of the unit despite the many reviews I read. Just got a hitch and ball installed with electrical wiring. Great service and very fast. From the moment I called Adam at hitch king for the first time to inquire about what I needed, to the moment I left the lot with everything installed on my car took about an hour. Adam explained everything I needed to know about the hitch and even explained to me how to maintain my trailer even though I wasn't buying one from them. Adam even had one of the employees drive me to the nearby DD when I asked if there was anywhere to get coffee near by (it was 30 degrees snowing and windy). Had to be one the most pleasant auto experiences I've had. I needed a hitch put on my Corvette - just carrying a bicycle rack, no trailer!!! So I wanted a place I could trust, due to the type and value of the car. MY HEROS!! We blew a tire and rim with a large, loaded trailer filled with equipment just coming off the Throgs Neck Bridge in NY. 6:30 Friday night. I called all over the place and was told "no way can we come to that location. You have to drive to a side Road" or " we would have to order one". Come on guys, we had a flat tire and a bent rim, drive - you have to be kidding. We finally found Hitchking. I wanted to install a hitch on my Mercedes R350 but wasn't sure where to go to have it done. I read numerous glowing reviews of Adam and his brother at HitchKing and decided to try them out. It was well worth the trip from Brooklyn. Adam and his brother provided excellent service. They even installed a piece of chrome that had come off of my front fender at no extra charge. I bought a hitch for my 2012 Prius (for bike rack) from an online dealer, and needed it to be installed on the car. After being turned down by Toyota and two other mechanics, Adam at Hitch King in Bayside said "No Problem...I do those all the time!" and took me that afternoon. Not only did Adam notice that the company sent the WRONG hitch unit...he actually had the correct one in stock ! I called on a rainy Saturday morning and asked if they could install a hitch on my brand new VW Gold Alltrack that day. They had the compatible hitch in stock and said to come in any time - it would take about an hour to install. It was worth the drive from South Brooklyn to Flushing. They took my car in right away and it was done in exactly an hour. I watched them peel the bumper and they were very careful and didn't scratch anything. All in, including the hitch, it was $300 plus tax. That was less than what UHaul quoted me. It is a family business and they are trustworthy, good people. read more
