Coming from California with many farmers markets in our own hometown we find ourselves very…read moreaccustomed to them & are actually quite spoiled. This one rates maybe slightly above average as we were able to find that awesome homemade souvenir from Canada compared to going to your run of the mill tourist souvenir shops. We probably would have had to walk into downtown for those souvenir stores but my wife decided otherwise & made a direct detour for the market. There were some savory food options as well as yummy looking desserts! We passed on those items & my wife looked straight for a particular set of Canadian homemade souvenirs. She was elated! Thankfully we happened to be in town on a Saturday when the farmer's market was only opened from 9-3 PM! Also we came prepared with Canadian money on hand to pay for our items. Woohoo! Many craftspeople were apparently very talented as it showed through their lovely artsy materials & craftsmanship. We also observed some people offering tastings of their foods too to tempt you! We heard entertainment & people were there to enjoy & there were seats for them as well! We Californians brought the sunny weather to Victoria British Columbia to enjoy fully on a lovely Saturday morning!

I was walking around with my phone in my hand and she out of nowhere yells at me telling me to delete the photos on my phone. I was clearly very confused and the man she was talking to was very confused as my phone was by my side in my hand. But she continued to yell at me accusing me of taking photos of her or her booth I'm not sure but after I told her I have no idea what she is talking about she dropped it but no apology or anything just outright very rude and aggressive. This market was great but this one booth honestly made me not wanna go back to this market. This older woman was extremely scary. So if you see it stay clear or keep your phone out of sight unless you want your head bitten off

Everyone needs to visit at least once!!…read more What an amazing place to visit!! Excellent fresh fruit and vegetables, dried fruit, beautiful flowers, and the fish throwing was fun!! Even though it was crowded!! Workers were very nice and helpful and made suggestions for local places to eat! I will say that being from Texas where prices are moderate made the prices look exorbitantly high for some things! I'm not paying $68 for a beanie. Sorry! $8 for half dozen donuts and $15 for large mac and cheese was worth the experience!

Getting to Pike Place is super easy on public transit from the airport - it's direct there and under an hour away. Very user-friendly. The market itself can be explored in a couple of hours. I didn't get to see the famous "fish throwing" unfortunately but I did get to check out a number of stores. Places are very generous with samples. I tried bread with a few different balsamic vinegars and oils, salmon, truffle spreads and salt, and apple juice. The area around the market is very walkable and felt safe and clean. Prices are reasonable and it's easy to pick up souvenirs for friends. There are a wide variety of sundries available and most shops had airplane-friendly packaging. Also nearby is the famous gum wall (disgusting!) and the original Starbucks. Restrooms are plentiful although I found them to be a little unsavory in terms of cleanliness. The stall doors were also weirdly short? I'm a modest 5'3" and I found myself towering over them. Worth a stop if you're in the area. Very fun vibes.

A fun stop while in Vancouver. You can find anything you want at the Granville Island Public…read moreMarket(just like Alice's restaurant). We bought fruit, pastries, home made lemonade and chocolates. Of course we ate them all up! Prices weren't cheap however, we are just visiting so I have nothing to compare them to. Every business was very helpful and didn't rush us. Definitely a go to spot when you are visiting Vancouver!

Granville Island Public Market is one of those classic Vancouver experiences that pretty much…read moreeveryone tells you to do--and now I get why. The market sits on Granville Island, which used to be an industrial area before being transformed in the 1970s into a cultural and food hub. Getting there is part of the fun: you can take a quick water taxi across False Creek, drive, or grab a regular taxi. We went the easy route and arrived by car, but I'd love to try the water bus next time for the full experience. We got there later in the evening on a Sunday, so they closed early and time was limited. Before I even stepped inside, I spotted a vendor making maple candy--the kind that is poured onto ice and rolled up o to a stick. Highly recommend giving this very Canadian treat a try! Inside, it's exactly what you hope for: a lively space packed with vendors--produce, baked goods, prepared foods, local specialties. I had a short must-try list, starting with Lee's Donuts, Siegel's Bagels, and a hunt for Nanaimo bars, the iconic no-bake Canadian dessert named after the city of Nanaimo in British Columbia. Even with little time, it was fun weaving through the stalls and admiring all the products. Since we were visiting during the holidays, there were extra vendors selling arts, crafts, and locally made sweets, which made the whole place feel even more festive. We picked up bottles of maple syrup to bring home as gifts and also tried a few canelés. After we enjoyed our dinner, I stepped outside and took a moment to soak in the view--city lights reflecting on the water, the bridge glowing in the distance, everything calm and picturesque. It was a quiet contrast to the busy market inside and ended the visit on a really peaceful note. Definitely take in the view if you have a minute! Even though we didn't have as much time as I would have liked, it was still a great experience. Granville Island Public Market absolutely lives up to its "must-do" reputation.
