My husband and I flew in from Southern CA for a wedding here and found ourselves immediately blown away by the most beautiful hotel in the smallest little town of Marion. Let me say, I have traveled 48 states and stayed in many types of inns, hotels, bed and breakfasts etc over the years and have never experienced a place like this. Between the friendly staff and many conversations over the weekend, the delicious food at the Parlour 1886, and the unique ambiance. It was truly one of a kind. I saw so much love poured into every inch of this place. I truly hope we can make our way back to Kansas one of these days, so we can visit again. Thank you Jennifer and Alicia!

We loved our stay at the Historic Elgin Hotel! It was beautiful. A step back into a more elegant time! The staff was super friendly and the rooms were immaculate. We loved the beautiful staircase with the old music playing at all times. We enjoyed playing pool in the game room and working out in the gym!! This place is a hidden gem!

What a spectacular evening away We experienced at the Elgin Hotel! We met Jennifer at the front desk and she was so helpful telling us everything we needed to know about our stay. We also made a reservation for dinner and it was so delicious! The Old Fashioned cocktails were perfectly made by the bartender too. After dinner we sat outside on the veranda as we enjoyed some wine. Then our evening in the room was peaceful and relaxing. We can't wait to come back and stay! Thank you Elgin for a wonderful evening!

Wow. The Historic Elgin Hotel is one of the most beautiful and unique places I've ever stayed. You really feel like you've stepped back in time when you arrive. I really enjoyed the expert balance of vintage charm and modern convenience. Upon our arrival, we were given a quick tour. The staff were lovely. The first floor features a ballroom as well as a restaurant and cocktail lounge. A beautiful staircase winds toward the second and third floor guest rooms. Our room was cozy and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. We were invited to walk around and check out some of the other rooms. They are all beautiful and each have their own unique character. Every inch of this place is seriously striking. The second floor features a full kitchen for guest use. Coffee, tea, and some light fare is available round the clock. We spent some time later in the evening out on the second floor veranda taking in the night air. This place is so relaxing. It's magical. If you're looking to get out of your room, the whole hotel boasts comfortable seating areas throughout, but the third floor offers the most. Here you'll find the guest lounge as well as the library. We really enjoyed just walking around the place. There is so much to see! Back on the first floor make sure to check out the courtyard. Comfortable seating and a relaxing air day or night. At the center of the courtyard is the game room. There's a nice pool table, darts, antique card table and board games. It's yet another wonderful amenity and a reason to get out of your room! While the Historic Elgin Hotel offers ample 19th century charm, there are plenty of modern touches as well. Wifi, key code entry to the property and, most striking to me, the fitness center. Located behind a fairly nondescript sign, the fitness center is actually several rooms and offers a lot more than what you would find at most contemporary hotels. Top notch. The Elgin's elegance, comfort, and convenience would be hard to match. It was by far one of my favorite hotels I've stayed in. I hope to be back soon.Very highly recommended.

I travel quite a bit for work and always look forward to staying at the Elgin. The hotel is gorgeous, the rooms are spotless, the bedding is super comfortable, and the common kitchen is fully stocked with impeccable attention to detail. The area is walkable and the downtown is so cute. I highly recommend staying here! Don't forget to check out their steakhouse on the first floor and the yummy coffee shop across the street.

Best place to stay when in Marion, Kansas! The hotel's customer service is outstanding. Their staff was so pleasant and amazingly patient with accommodating not one, but three reservation changes. The rooms and other areas very clean. So many amenities at this bed & breakfast, but mostly loved that our family in Marion was able to join us for a game night on the 2nd floor and we were able to use the 2nd floor kitchen to host them. On another evening we had a quiet night in sharing wine & getting to know other lovely out of town guests in the beautiful living room on our floor. Our family in Marion rented the beautiful hall and it was so convenient to use the hall's kitchen. This hotel will satisfy any type of stay, from business to pleasure to hosting a larger group for a reunion. This will definitely be the only place I will stay at whenever returning to Marion or any of the surrounding towns.

Drom Sott (which means "sweet dreams" in Swedish) feels like you're staying in someone's cozy home. The rooms are impeccable and everything is arranged just so. The bed is super comfortable. The lobby has large couches and chairs tucked into nooks that you can relax in. My room was on the smaller side, but it was perfect for a single person (which I visited as) or two people who don't mind sharing a small room. A generous Scandinavian buffet breakfast is included with your stay. Options at breakfast included crepes with lingonberry jam, hardboiled eggs, herring, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola and lots more. My favorite part of Drom Sott: Adult guests are welcome to visit the wine bar downstairs during their stay for a glass of complementary wine. Or two! There are also some little nibbly things (pretzels and Chex mix-ish snacks) to eat as you drink your wine. I drank my wine and then left the hotel to explore the cute Swedish neighborhood. Drom Sott is located in downtown Lindsborg, within walking distance to restaurants, shops and bars.

The Inn prefers that you check in during a certain time period so they can ensure they're there to greet you. I had a meeting that resulted in a late arrival on my part, so I called ahead to let them know when I would be arriving and they accommodated easily and kindly. When you arrive, you park at the back of the residence, but you enter at the front of the residence. Those with mobility issues should take note and plan ahead for that. Along that same line, this property does not appear to be wheelchair accessible. All of the rooms I saw were upstairs and the entrance required several stairs to access the porch. However, I may have just not seen other options - calling ahead to ask may be best to make sure. I was greeted by Adrian, who checked me in and showed me around. She was very attentive about what I could/would eat for breakfast the next morning, which implies a lot of experience on her part and being conscientious about not wasting food. I definitely appreciated that. I stayed in the Hurd Room, which was perfect for my needs. I was there in October and the room had a small space heater provided for use, which I was very very grateful for. I know that I'm more sensitive than most to cooler temperatures, so while most people would probably have been fine, I appreciated being able to make the room fit my preferences on my own. There is a large array of movies that you can borrow to watch, most of which are older and asking classic lines which is nice to take a step back and enjoy. There were also cookies and tea available through the evening. I've seen other reviews and noted myself that some bathroom areas can be quite small. However, I saw that as a result of converting Victorian spaces into modern lodging areas. Areas were simply smaller in that era than we're used to now and keeping the integrity of the space has the natural result of cozier accommodations. I personally didn't mind any of it, but I can see how others might. The bed was comfortable, but be aware that this is a typical Kansas town that was built around a railroad station. So trains still run through there very frequently and at all hours of the night. If that will disturb your sleep, plan accordingly. I honestly don't think you can stay anywhere near the museum without that aspect. Breakfast the next morning started with a yogurt, fruit, and granola parfait. Adrian makes the granola herself on site. The entree for that morning was French toast with a fruit reduction and bacon. It was very nice. Overall, it was a very nice stay in a historic home with prices very comparable to any local hotel.

What did I appreciate: lots of hot water in shower, a chair and light in room for reading, breakfast, location near downtown ( walking distance to restaurants). No serious complaints, except the bed was hard for my tastes. Suggestions: spruce up the room a bit by adding a pleasant bed cover. I just read another review and am appalled to hear they screen for "traditional couples only". If that's not true, please tell me and I will eliminate this comment.
