Absolutely splendid bed & breakfast in beautiful St. Paul! The breakfast was absolutely scrumptious and the room was perfect for a quick getaway. We will definitely be back! Within walking distance of several excellent restaurants.

Extraordinary - it feels as though one has half of the floor - a very large sitting room, a gorgeous bedroom, etc. Amazing!

The New Victorian Mansion Bed and Breakfast - September 2025 Dayton view

While the house itself was pretty, that was the only positive aspect of my stay. The rooms were…read moremuch smaller than they appeared online, and there were cobwebs in several areas of the home. Overall, the experience was not worth the $250 per night price. Breakfast was served at 9:00 AM, and when I arrived, there was only a single plate of food prepared specifically for me. It appeared to have already been made and needed to be reheated. There were no additional options available, such as fruit, muffins, or other choices. I was not informed in advance that 9:00 AM was the only time breakfast would be served or that there would be no alternatives. For the price, this location did not meet expectations. I would not return and would not recommend it to others. You can spend your money elsewhere and have a much better experience.

Lovely! I booked the Dayton Room in the penthouse for the night before my wedding. It was a last…read moreminute purchase and I was very pleased with the results. I didn't want a generic hotel room so the New Victorian Mansion allowed me to have comfort as if I was in my own home. Some of my favorite highlights include: wrap around front porch, view of the Cathedral, large bathroom with a nautical theme, breakfast in the dining room and overall peacefulness and serenity of the space. Upon arrival, there is a free parking lot wrapped around the building and a main entry (you'll ring the doorbell) to get access to your room key pad number and front door code. Depending on what wing and room you stay in, you will travel either inside or out and have the option for both if you stay in the penthouse. The mansion is separated by two sections and anyone staying in the penthouse is on an opposite wing of the building. There is no elevator in the penthouse and it's clearly advertised online so you'll know what to expect in advance without any surprises. The penthouse is technically meant for large group gatherings as there is only shared 1 bathroom. Contrary, I saw others in the penthouse when I was there and we never overlapped on bathroom use. I enjoy the New Victorian because you can customize how you want to stay whether that is luxurious or a more modern dorm style. No matter what you choose, the common shared spaces in each wing are adorable being it's all a mansion. Even the penthouse kitchen was just enough with every accommodation possible: Nespresso machine, coffee cups, wine glasses, blender, fridge, pots, pans, etc. While I only stayed one night and had to depart early, I couldn't fully enjoy the breakfast as I was in rush mode to get married. Contrary, the staff accommodated a slightly early meal for me which was very thoughtful. Rating this a 4 as there is some generic wear and tear, missing paint, carpet stains, and cleaning supplies and cords in the open spaces. With some paint, hiding of tools, carpet stain remover, small porch sweeping with added flowers, this would get a 5 star. My understanding is that there are new owners so perhaps repairs are all in the works after being handed off? Don't be fooled: the place is clean but it looks more dirty due to the slight repairs that need to be done to keep the upscale vibe going.

My company booked us here from a week long conference and I'm happy they did over me trying to find…read moresomewhere next to the airport. The hotel is beautiful and the lobby was even more dazzling as it was decorated for the holidays. The rooms were pretty standard in decor but even the "basic" rooms are larger than many I've been in. There was a desk for me to get some work done and a chair if I had guests. With a lot of extra room between the bed and TV, just in case you want to do some yoga. A few of my colleagues got suites and they were 2 rooms with many sitting areas and a couch. The bed is very soft and not my favorite, but still good. There were plenty of blankets and pillows as well. I will say heating and cooling the room had a bit of a learning curve. It was pretty cool outside when I visited but inside the room was mid 60s. I like it at around 70 so the heater would heat then go off then go back on not long after. So if you visit in the cooler months, and are like me I suggest mid 70s for the thermostat. All had the standard TV and books about the area. It also had a snack bar, drinks in a small frig and a mini mini mini frig for me to put food in. The frig find those side sandwiches sized to go containers so keep that in mind. And like many hotels, the mini bar is no cheap so if you don't want to be tempted you may want to get some snacks. For sound, I will say you can hear the street and the park had some music playing so that could be heard. On the flip side, I was right next to the elevators and couldn't hear them at all. The location was not far from the airport, 30 minute drive, but there isn't a lot of parking if you're renting a car. It is close to many areas like restaurants, the hockey rink, coffee shops, offices. Most places are either a 15 to 20 minute walk or even shorter drive. I had my choice of restaurants while there. While I wouldn't advise walking, like I did, the Capitol building and Summit Hill were close to see when there is a bit of free time. All in all, it was a lovely stay and should I be back will be my first choice.

This hotel has an excellent location with various attractions well within walking distance. Upon…read morechecking in I encountered an extremely blank-faced and unfriendly desk clerk, which upon further interactions with the front desk staff appeared to be the norm. In the room I noticed a chip in the bathtub edge and a loose shower-head. Aside from an elaborate lobby nothing about the hotel stood out as a self-billed luxury hotel. The room was quiet and had decent views of Rice Park. I 'm not sure that I'd stay here again.

This hotel is so cute. I had a very pleasant experience. Old school charm and good customer…read moreservice. They actually give you real keys unlike the cards you get at other hotels. This of course came with a cost because if you loose the key the cost is about $150 bucks fee. My room was so elegant and very fitting for a staycation. The only thing I noticed is that the walls are a bit thin so the sound does travel. Luckily, I had some mature neighbors and didn't have to worry. I took advantage of the SPAC- Saint Paul Athletic Club facilities while I was there- Sauna, Steam room, and pool. Sad they didn't have a hot tub, but I made due. This is a hotel that you can go to and be very low key. They don't have a restaurant on site but their continental breakfast is a great deal. Everything was fresh. They did a great job with fully stacking the food and providing an array of options. Would highly reccommend and would return.

Well not the room But the bed was tiny and shoved in between two walls making me fell claustrophobic! I should of taken a photo but I was so tired I just tried to rest. It was definitely not for two grown adults. I had a hard time getting in and out of bed because they also had a huge nightstand positioned on the one side so you basically had to scooch to the bottom of bed to get out. It was clean room. Continental breakfast was fine. Lots of toiletries and kitchen sink and kurig to make coffee. I think it also had a small fridge. I would have preferred a larger bed and not all the other stuff. Sleep and convince of the green line is the only reason why we stayed here. Love the beautiful door to get to the walkway system from the 2nd floor. Too cool. The pool and gym are awesome as well. Adult only so you don't need to worry about kids slashing and crying.
