You'll find them greet you when you enter and always happy to assist you, The Cottage Door continues to be an upscale consignment shop as they are selective. This being said, gently used vintage and modern clothing, shoes, jewelry, choctchkies, along with antique items too. Oh and furniture!!! Always beautiful furniture in this shop. Everything is clean and well organized, unlike many thrift stores I've been to. Prices and consignment pay out are both very fair. The store is lovely and so fun to meander through. One wont need to sift and sort through items which really makes the shopping experience a pleasure. You'll see items that you've never seen before and are so interesting! Another vintage shop that came up in my search for Asheville vintage clothing shops to visit on my…read morerecent trip. It is on Walnut St. and is on the corner, across from Moonlight Makers. You can either park on the street or park in one of the structures or lots nearby. We parked in the structure across the street and walked to all of the shops in the area. The shop is well-curated with unique pieces from a variety of eras and different styles. Everything is arranged by color and item type on the racks. The tags try to include the era for the piece, any damage present, and the price. There was a long pleated tartan skirt with a contrast color tartan on the inside of the pleats that I tried on for laughs. It was beautifully made, but the length was not for me and the price was a little high for my liking. Still, it was fun trying it on and seeing the other items available in the shop. There are a few men's items up front, but it mostly sells women's vintage clothing and accessories. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. I'd consider stopping by again to see what was new.

There's something super charming about this space. I was surprised by how open and spacious it is. Tall ceilings and massive windows make this spot quite a breath of fresh air rather than the typical stuffy feeling you can experience at a vintage store. Mentioning vintage stores, I find that there's often a lack of choices for men, but whoever is doing the buying for this shop is definitely dedicated to making sure there's a generous selection of stuff for the gents. There was an ample amount of things for me to rifle through, and a great distraction! I found an absolutely awesome blazer, and a number of vintage belt buckles that are going to be making their way on to my last minute Christmas list. Oh yes! Accessories. Chotskies. After meeting the owner Connie at our club, my husband and I thought we would pop into her store. Whilst browsing, we saw a small green purse on a display. Seeing that we are golf fans and the Masters was a week away we decided to purchase said purse. The tag on the purse stated $128. I took it to the register, paid and went about my merry way. This is where the story starts! Approximately a week later, I receive a phone call from the store manager (I assume they scoured through our directory at the club to track me down) stating the item had been mis-marked and should have been $528 not $128 and DEMANDED I make up the difference immediately with a credit card over the phone!!! With purse already in hand and on my way to Honkey Tonk row in Nashville, I wasn't going to let such a bizarre and outrageous demand alter my weekend and whilst I felt some understanding as we all understand mistakes happen but that the purse was only worth $128 to me and not the $528, and it was being used currently on my trip so we would have to come to a solution after vacation. This is where bizarre event number 2 evolves. I decided, being a business owner myself, and feeling empathy for the perceived plight of the sales associate, I said why don't we split the difference and I'll pay cost for the rest. I felt this was a fair proposition and not to mention I have already used the purse at this point on my trip. To my surprise they stated they wouldn't be discounting the purse at all and that I needed to return the purse, USED!!!!! Now mind you it wasn't gently used at this point, my girlfriends and I hopped around Nashville for 3 days celebrating a bachelorette party. I thought she must be kidding and ended the call as clearly my compromise of paying cost was outside her authority. Lo and behold, Ten minutes later I receive a phone call from the owner, Connie. She doubles down and tells me that I should pay full price PERIOD or return the item to the store!!! Flabbergasted to say the least and shocked as never in my life could I have imagined a store owner request USED, receipted merchandise back! She then CAME TO MY HOUSE and picked up the purse!!!!!!! Needless to say, if you see a green purse in Talloni for sale, it's used (with a little honkey tonk love) and whatever you do don't give them your information unless you want a visit from Connie.
