For my first review for 2025, I have to reflect back on my experience at this Rimowa in Munchen…read more The service was just as excellent as our experience in Madrid (please feel free to read that review). After spending a lot of time in Old Town and visiting the main attractions such as Glockenspiel, St. Peter, and eating pastries and meals in this area - we were drawn to this Rimowa on their famous street - Dienerstrabe. Salman was very attentive in showing us models and we were able to pick up our selection after walking around some more and eating and site-seeing. The luggage was kinda heavy after walking about eight (8) blocks (about 1.5 miles) back to the hotel. A few more thoughts, the gold initialing of the name tag is behind the scenes though (unlike in Madrid - they do it in front of you), so that wasn't as exciting. Salman did not understand Tagalog but spoke English, and that was helpful. There was a Filipina employee there and she was our Plan B if there was a language barrier but thankfully, there wasn't any. :) I've contemplated going aluminum but there are weight restrictions when flying to Asia so I opted for polycarbonate once more. I guess, if you're going with United, carry-on weight doesn't matter. But it does matter on PAL and EVA, so lighter is better, because they'll charge extra. Make sure to submit the tax information at the airport so that you can save on part of your taxes (Global Blue). It can be a pain in the arse but it's still worth jumping through all the hoops.

They make their drinks from fresh fruits and veggies (which you can clearly see from the kitchen). I loved that the fare was simple and fresh. The menus don't have an english version, but the server was kind enough to translate for us and make recommendations. This is the kind of place where you order / pay at the register, which is a great place to stop for brunch with your girl friends. Saw at least two groups come in while I was enjoying brunch. It's well located near a subway stop and it's one of the only places on the street open before 10 AM.

There is a real charm of this cosy bookshop, it has the feeling of time and here you can let time pass you by. The atmosphere is relaxed, calm and gentle. It is not like one of those large chains, it is not huge nor can you buy coffee or snacks, but here you really get the sense of a personal touch, it is individual and indeed it is unique. As you walk in and let the door close behind hearing a bell, the owner of the store is there to greet you, always at helping hand with a warm yet caring smile, anything you need he will do his best to help you out. The front of the shop is dedicated to photography, art, musical, gay literature both in German and English, music and DVDs. The rear of the shop holds a collection of lifestyle magazines printed in Germany, France, United Kingdom and USA, medical books and large section dedicated to the lesbian customer. In the midst of all the books lies a beat up old black two seated sofa and once you sink into it, you really don't want to get out. Yes this is the shop that lets time slip calmly by while enjoying a good book and observing the little cute charming book shop in the middle of a large city.

In two other Munich bookshops, it was assumed I had a specific title in mind, and I really felt unwelcome and uncomfortable about browsing. When browsing, I always find 2 or 3 books I didn't even know about, then purchase them. I really value places like Max and Milian's these days when specialized bookshops are going out of business, and wish them continued success.

The store is in a mall that has all sorts of other shopping options. If you want to do some serious shopping, it's worth it to take a few hours out & trek here. This store is 3 levels. Home goods, men's, women's & children's clothes & all sorts of makeup, skincare & other accessories. Quality is great if u compare it to Walmart or other discount stores in the US. Prices are very low esp considering the taste, quality & fit of the clothes. I docked a point off cause I waited in checkout line for ever. Like 30 mins. Also place is a bit of a mess later in the day & didn't see employees putting items back together. No bathroom too folks. You have to pay euros .50 to use the main restroom in the mall. That's just not cool. I get that it's a European thing, but still totally uncool.
