The menu photos looked good and the reviews were reviewing so I gave them a try. Glad. I. Did. It was almost 7pm on a Monday when I walked in and it was fairly empty. Some people at a few tables. It's very clean inside. I was greeted and told to sit anywhere. The waitress was very probable and answered all my questions. I even asked her to recommend an appetizer and she did. So with that out the way let's get to the food. Per recommendation I tried the satay chicken appetizer. It was a little different from the menu photo when it come out but the sauce and chicken bites were good. Chicken was very tender. I also ordered the teriyaki chicken and added shrimp with no veggies. It was. DEE. LISH. US. It's the sweeter style teriyaki but not overpowering. Fantastic taste. And a little hint of spice if you get it medium. I burned my tongue I was eating so fast. It came out hot and I devoured it. So good. lol. The sweet tea was awesome too. All around very good. At the end the waitress told me they were fairly new and even asked me for any recommendations on improvement. I said please keep doing what you're doing. Can't wait to try more of the menu.

I was running errands at the nearby Cuban Grocery Co. and decided to finally give BSCH a try based on the 5 star reviews. It was easy to place my order online while still in my car. By the time I finished my shopping and loaded my groceries into the car, my food was almost ready. When I walked in on a late Tuesday morning the restaurant was empty. There's ample seating and the restaurant smelled and looked squeaky clean. An employee welcomed me warmly and asked if I wanted water while I waited for them to finish preparing my meal. She was extremely, and genuinely, kind and showed great hospitality, down to labeling the containers. When I got home all of the food was still hot, which is a big green flag for me. The garlic chicken was slightly dry, but packed with tons of garlicky flavor. The choice of chicken breast, while appealing to most, was disappointing, but I still enjoyed the dish. The rice was fluffy and garnished with peas, which shows intention. My Tom Yum soup was comforting and had just the right amount of shrimp as to not be too skimpy or too gluttonous. I do wish I had more veggies, but that's just a personal preference. I'll definitely return to Bayleaf and bring my family. I recommend it if not because you don't feel that level of hospitality these days.

Oh man, where to begin... while looking into Filipino food spots in San Antonio, this place kept…read morecoming up over and over again. Safe to say, the hype led me here--and here's how it went. AMBIANCE Parking: Two plazas one to the store and one to the restaurant. So you shouldn't have any issues. Seating: Plenty! Room for maybe 70-100. Great for individuals, pairs, large groups, such as party reservations. Vibes: My pulse of San Antonio was pretty charming (especially the Downtown area). This area is moreover the grit and grind/not so touristy area but an important contributor to the San Antonio economy none the less. The restaurant/bakery/store itself is awesome! I dig the mural of Filipino-descent player - Dylan Harper, there's even a cool playground outside for kids. It was cool receiving a warm kamayan welcome from the servers as you enter. I like the Filipino tropical energy the restaurant gives out from the plant decor, art, and their homage to their roots from their ancestor shelf. The pop lofi music in the background was comforting to chill and enjoy the food. Great for a solo food adventure, catch up meal with a friend, or special occassion party. FOOD / DRINKS Sari-Sari Special (Recommend) For all indecisive people, this is the way, this is the choice. I ordered the three main plate specifically choosing the (Diniguan, Chicken adobo, and Fried Pork Belly). The staples of the lumpia and noodles were a delight. Lumpia had a nice umami crunch and the noodles were comforting. Chicken Adobo - is my usual baseline to measure foods and this provided a nice comfort feel with a balance of savory soy-vinegar with a lot of sauce to add on to your rice. Dinuguan - if you don't know, now you know. This pork stew was another comfort delight. As the gravy mixed well with the vinegar and spices. A good stew texture with that signature rich savory and tangy flavors. Pork Belly Kawali - For something signature, this is it. As recommended by Owner Adrian - usually you need special sauce to complement this dish but it stands very well alone - a rich savory balance of crispy edges, tender pork meat, and natural buttery fat with every slice. Ube Horchata (Recommend) This was a fun fusion drink. A homage to the Mexican influences and Filipino influences. Creamy, cinnamon-forward horchata mixed with ube sweetness. CUSTOMER SERVICE Rome was great! Friendly and knowledgable on the menu. I enjoyed our conversation. TL;DR OVERALL 5 Stars. Great food, reasonable prices, and a pleasant vibe. I enjoyed my experience here overall. I'm usually critical on Filipino restaurants as they can't top my family's cooking but I feel like this complements their cooking. I'd actually take them over here for the food and the community comfort. For those in San Antonio, this place is definitely worth stopping by. Salamat and ingat to Adrian, Camille, and the rest of the Sari-Sari family. #FilipinoFoodMovement #RepresentAZN TIPS: * A great intro for first timers to Filipino food. Be sure to try combo plates if it's your first time--you get more variety * Don't skip the market section

I've not had much else here except the pork barbecue since the pata is a favorite. I tried the lumpia sometime ago and it wasn't bad at all. Service was quick, though it was not during peak hours. Filipino pop music covers play in the background, and the decor adds to the feel of being back in the islands. The Filipino service and cook staff also are good signs. There is a store connected to the restaurant where you can find great Filipino staples like snacks and condiments and even frozen items like tocino and bangus. Definitely will be back as I always do when I'm in San Antonio.

I absolutely love Smoothie King!…read more It's been a hot minute since I've been to SK but it felt so nice to be back and pick up a couple of smoothies again. This location was exceptionally clean and stocked with protein powder and post-workout snacks for additional purchase, the staff was helpful and quick, and the smoothies tasted delicious. This last visit I opted for a Mango Ginger Metabolism Boost while my fiancé chose the Chocolate Peanut Power Plus. Neither of the drinks tasted too protein powdery, something worth noting for people who don't like the taste, and were super smooth and easy to sip on. My Mango Ginger was a light and refreshing drink that actually helped me feel more awake, the sweetness of the mango cutting the ginger spice for a satisfyingly sweet and tangy flavor. The Peanut Power Plus, however, was a little less sweet, and was an absolute peanut butter experience with a subtle earthy flavor from the dates. Both drinks were super tasty in their own right. I'd highly recommend Smoothie King as a healthier alternative to fast food. You can customize your smoothies to your liking and you're sure to get your drinks just as fast.

Dairy. It's truly meant for the shopper whose shopping is not so involved. Trust me sometimes going to HEB when I just need a few things can be a pain. I usually come here on early Sunday mornings for their barbacoa and it's really good. Or maybe you need meats for a backyard barbecue with your crazy family. I always consult "El Rey De Carne" here and he will cut up steaks for you. I must confess I couldn't cook to save my life. That's why I always buy a package of their tortillas, which are great for the week. They carry items I rarely see around the city. For example I seldom see Crema Oaxacan at H.E.B. Which makes finding alternatives problematic. They also carry bollio bread which reminds of the ones I used to buy at Sorianas in Laredo. They are perfect for tortas or sandwiches. I've read reviews where customers say the counter workers are not the most friendliest people. Maybe there is some truth to that. However in my experience it is probably a cultural misunderstanding rather than having to do with service. For example, I have bought herbs from a Mexican yerbia in a fleamarket before expecting niceties. Only to be shrugged away after a purchase. I believe patrons who frequent bigger supermarkets will notice a subtle difference. I will say the older checkout clerks tend to be more genial and hospitable. I neglected to mention that they have a mini-food place inside that makes good tacos, breakfast and lunch plates. I must relay this story before I wrap up my review. A while back I had a nagging cough that would not go away. We asked the counter person if she knew of a homeopathic remedy that could help ease some of symptoms. She put together a mixture of Mexican oregano, laurel and other herbs to create a tea, to be replicated at home. I called her my "Brujita." After I drank it I felt much better. When I returned to thank her a few days later she no longer was there. I do like coming to this place. The only critique I have is that some of the prices are high. I can only speculate as tariffs rise this might affect patronage. I will continue to support this business. And someday I'm going to order those papa con huevo tacos I saw the cook make whilst getting my Sunday barbacoa. Why can't I have both?
