Like the majority of the hospitals in PR if being admitted you need to bring your own pillow, quilt, toothpaste, soap, powder, wipes and lotion which I found so odd because the hospitals in NYC provide all that. I was visiting my great-uncle which was very ill and eventually die so this review is about that experience. I stood overnight with my uncle and in no time did they offered me a couch to sleep in. Had to sleep in a chair. When it was time for visiting hours they only had ONE chair per patient so imagine at one point my uncle had more than eight in the room and only one chair. It was torture!! The food was very good and the Doctors were very attentive. The Nurses on staff were awesome. So kind and loving towards my uncle which to me that was big plus. The hospital not only this one but all the hospitals in PR need to be updated in their technical operations. All is still done by paper which I found that odd too. Anyway, I hope that I never end up in any hospitals in PR. I'm so used to the good quality hospitals of NY that I won't know what or how to feel in I end up sick here in PR. My trip has ended and I'm so glad to be back home in America.

We leave for the night and my dad had a heart attack less than an hour later. He had mine, my sister's and my son's phone numbers all in record and they insisted they called but couldn't get ahold of anyone. It wasn't until the next morning when my son went to see him that we found out that he had suffered a heart attack and couldn't be resuscitated after one hour trying. It was the worse experience ever. I would rate with zero stars if possible.

Second, most staff do not speak English. Third, the staff were not knowledgeable of how insurances work. Frankly, they either genuinely don't know how to bill insurances or they are lazy to bill insurances. Instead, they are very desperate to collect money first before seeing the patient in the emergency room, which should not even be the case because it is illegal to reject services to patients at the emergency room with or without insurance. Fourth, they did not prioritize our situation despite the urgency. It was almost like they were discriminating us because the patient is African American. Fifth, the staff were not helpful nor holistic. It seems like they see patients by color and money. Overall, this hospital has a lot of management and administrative things to work on. What a shame for an "exclusive-private" hospital. Do better!

Fatigue, extreme body pains, lethargy, ennui, malaise, anxiety, forgetfulness, facial ticks, I could go on with the symptoms. At the time, I asked them point-blank, different doctors, on different occasions if this could be due to mold toxicity. Pravan told me: - It was long COVID and nothing they could do. - Make sure I am hydrating myself and taking multivitamins (wow, great advice). - That this was due to pigeons defecating on my AC compressor outside the building (which, due to the physics of how AC works, air does not flow back from the compressor outside the building into the AC unit within the building, this is literally physically impossible and one of the dumbest things I have ever heard). - That toxic mold does not exist in Puerto Rico. And, of course, after months and months of extreme suffering, issues with my business, issues with my relationships all stemming from this, low and behold, I find a doc who confirms this is due to the presence of Aspergillus and the resulting mycotoxins within my apartment, as confirmed by tests on both myself and EMRIs on my apartment. Stay the heck away from Pravan.

The 2 stars were for the general kindness of the staff & not the management. As this hospital is a leading medical facility in San Juan, Puerto Rico, according to your various advertisements, the type of service I expected from a reputed medical set up like yours was not acceptable. The staff at Hospital Auxilio Mutuo for the most part provided good care. The nurses stressed that each patient was a priority, which under normal circumstances would be true. No patient can be a priority when nurses have twelve to sixteen patients a shift. Your nurses' ability to truly provide caring nursing is an impossible feat when they are overburdened with more patients and their paperwork. Since I am a visitor to this beautiful island I made inquiries about the care given at your hospital only to find out that my experience was the norm and not the exception. I was told on several occasions that this is the way by all appearances your good catholic institution treats people seeking relief from complex ailments. I was really disappointed with my stay at your hospital and hope that you will look into this matter and take necessary corrective actions such as: * Honor the Hippocratic Oath of "Doing no harm" * Reduce the amount of patient to nurse ratio per shift * Apply Pain Management techniques based on providing comfort and not the color of a patient's skin Quote from Vanessa Marzán, director of the hospital's public relations, said the campaign underscores the importance of the relationship between the hospital and its patients. "We recognize that with today's new and diverse access to inform, patients can educate themselves about their health conditions and diagnoses," Marzán said. Patients, she added, can search for different alternatives to have control over their health. "The campaign aims to have a presence in the main channels of information that patients use, such as social networks, digital media, print and television." As you advertise provided services to the rest of the world as part of your medical tourism industry, experiences like mine should be the exception and not the norm. Regards, Caroline A.
