I received the best treatment for my hand. All the employees were very helpful and hope that continue like this.

Este hospital es una porquería. Enfocaron mucho en lo superficie... se ve lindo pero es una mierda entera. No entren.

They don't inform you of anything that's happening. They do not pay attention to patients and they don't have compassion over any situation that's going on! When they told me that I was discharged from the hospital, it was around 1 PM and they came to pick me up from nursery at 9 PM! Just horrible experience and I've heard of other people that had this type of problems too!!!!

The 2 stars were for the general kindness of the staff & not the management. As this hospital is a leading medical facility in San Juan, Puerto Rico, according to your various advertisements, the type of service I expected from a reputed medical set up like yours was not acceptable. The staff at Hospital Auxilio Mutuo for the most part provided good care. The nurses stressed that each patient was a priority, which under normal circumstances would be true. No patient can be a priority when nurses have twelve to sixteen patients a shift. Your nurses' ability to truly provide caring nursing is an impossible feat when they are overburdened with more patients and their paperwork. Since I am a visitor to this beautiful island I made inquiries about the care given at your hospital only to find out that my experience was the norm and not the exception. I was told on several occasions that this is the way by all appearances your good catholic institution treats people seeking relief from complex ailments. I was really disappointed with my stay at your hospital and hope that you will look into this matter and take necessary corrective actions such as: * Honor the Hippocratic Oath of "Doing no harm" * Reduce the amount of patient to nurse ratio per shift * Apply Pain Management techniques based on providing comfort and not the color of a patient's skin Quote from Vanessa Marzán, director of the hospital's public relations, said the campaign underscores the importance of the relationship between the hospital and its patients. "We recognize that with today's new and diverse access to inform, patients can educate themselves about their health conditions and diagnoses," Marzán said. Patients, she added, can search for different alternatives to have control over their health. "The campaign aims to have a presence in the main channels of information that patients use, such as social networks, digital media, print and television." As you advertise provided services to the rest of the world as part of your medical tourism industry, experiences like mine should be the exception and not the norm. Regards, Caroline A. Like the majority of the hospitals in PR if being admitted you need to bring your own pillow, quilt, toothpaste, soap, powder, wipes and lotion which I found so odd because the hospitals in NYC provide all that. I was visiting my great-uncle which was very ill and eventually die so this review is about that experience. I stood overnight with my uncle and in no time did they offered me a couch to sleep in. Had to sleep in a chair. When it was time for visiting hours they only had ONE chair per patient so imagine at one point my uncle had more than eight in the room and only one chair. It was torture!! The food was very good and the Doctors were very attentive. The Nurses on staff were awesome. So kind and loving towards my uncle which to me that was big plus. The hospital not only this one but all the hospitals in PR need to be updated in their technical operations. All is still done by paper which I found that odd too. Anyway, I hope that I never end up in any hospitals in PR. I'm so used to the good quality hospitals of NY that I won't know what or how to feel in I end up sick here in PR. My trip has ended and I'm so glad to be back home in America.

This place is pretty scary if you ask me. When we booked online though the Howard Johnson website,…read moreit literally showed us a photo of the hotel. Keep in mind that it had their logo on the building. When we go into Puerto Rico, we got lost looking for the hotel. We found ourselves in Old San Juan and when we called they couldn't provide us with an address. The receptionist gave us directions which was very helpful. When we finally arrived, it was literally in the Cardiovascular hospital. You wouldn't know it was a hotel at all until you reached the elevators as it has a sign of Howard Johnson. To check in you would need to go to the guard and let them know you're checking-in. The Guard will then allow you to park your car in a designated area while you check-in. You go to the 4th floor, check-in and they would then give you a card that allows you to park in the parking garage across the street from the hospital. The rooms are converted hospital rooms that are part of the hospital. I believe there are only 30 rooms available. The rooms are okay nothing fancy. Everytime we walked in the room it smelt like the dentist office. That smell that only a dentist office would have. For the 1 week we were there, we probably only saw maybe 2-3 people/family staying in this hotel. The WiFi sucks. If you have AT&T, good luck as the AT&T network wouldn't work in the room during the day but at night or weekends, it would be fine. There is something in the hospital that blocks the signal. I had to go to the mall to just use the WiFi since I go to school and I had to take my tests. There is a dedicated elevator you can use, but you can still access the hospital through those elevators. At night, we would need to go through the hospital and show the guard at the front desk that we are staying at the Howard Johnson and they would walk us to the elevators. I'm surprised we didn't run into any dead bodies since it is a active hospital. During the day, you can see nurses and Doctors using the elevators to access the different floors. This is like the bates motel. We were afraid to invite or tell anyone where we were staying because first off it's like in the ghetto area and secondly, it's in a damn hospital. It's an experience none of my friends will ever forget. We have a running joke, that at least we're at a hospital so if we're ever needing help, we're literally right next door. I gave this a 1 star since you can't give it any.

Finally someone told me it was on the 4th floor. After you take the elevator and it opens, there is no A/C and it stinks. Then the carpets looks old and the curtains are a mess. Then in the room, there was no towels and there phone didn't work. I had to go in person asking for towels. The room also stinked. I'm glad I stayed only one day because I wouldn't survived 2. Then when I was checking out, the elevator was on hold for more than 10 mins and I was just there waiting. So then I went down the elevators which I didn't find it safely. Definitely do not recommend this place at all.
