The staff are very helpful too, I went in looking for a particular type of moisturiser one day but they didn't stock it so the lady behind the counter ordered it in specially for me, it was nice to see that she didn't give the usual lazy response of "i think they stock it in...try there". Very disappointing experience at Boots Liffey Valley Ireland…read more Today, at the payment counter in the pharmacy/medicine section, I specifically asked a staff member (Asian) whether there were any offers available on my Boots Advantage Card. She simply told me there were no offers. Shortly afterwards, another Boots employee informed me that I actually had offers available in the Boots app, but they needed to be activated before payment. Unfortunately, because I had not been given this information at the counter, I missed out on a very good offer. I returned to the counter and explained that she could have informed me that offers may need to be activated in the app. Instead of acknowledging the issue or apologising, she responded by asking how she was supposed to know that I had not activated my offers. This was particularly frustrating because the reason I had asked whether there were any offers on my Boots card in the first place was because I was looking for guidance. A senior staff member then became involved, but rather than acknowledging the poor customer experience, I felt the response was mainly focused on defending the staff member. I would expect customer-facing staff to have reasonable knowledge of the Boots Advantage Card and app, or at least guide customers correctly when they specifically ask about available offers. A simple explanation at the beginning would have avoided the entire situation.

The waiting time for prescriptions is pretty minimal and I don't think making negative comments about staff or recommending other places is fair to be honest. But while this is not a terrible pharmacy, it certainly isn't late night either. My mission for cold medicine at 9.45pm led to the grounds of St James Hospital - my iPhone Yelp app tagged it as an option (hey, how great is that?). Once in, a quick quiz of the porter on duty at the hospital entrance drew an understandable deep sigh. "This hasn't been a late night pharmacy in five years. Why do they* keep sending people here?" As I discovered, 24 Hour pharmacies seem to be rare on the level of philosophers stones and faberge eggs in Dublin. For those in need of cold remedy after hours your best bet is to search for an open Spar or Centra (the larger the better) and hope they've got what you need behind the counter.
