Stayed here recently for work and had a good overall experience. The hotel was very clean and well maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout the stay. One of the highlights was the executive loungeit was a really nice perk. They offered coffee, snacks, water, and even food options throughout the day from breakfast into lunch and dinner. Which was super convenient. The bar area was also great plenty of space, lots of TVs. There were multiple seating areas, which made it easy to find a spot. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The only downside I'd mention is the bathroom it was on the smaller side, and the ceilings and shower head felt a bit low. Otherwise it was a good stay. read more

I have stayed at 6 other hotels in Albany and this hotel is without a doubt the worst. 1) When I checked in, the staff at the front desk barely said a word and just handed me my key. They didn't volunteer ANY information about the hotel. The app doesn't give hours for the lounge breakfast and when I asked, they seemed annoyed I had questions. They then proceeded to tell me I didn't book a rate with breakfast. When I asked if Diamond members get breakfast (consistent with Hilton policy) they finally gave me the lounge hours. Sure enough, the next day, my card didn't work on the lounge and I had to go back to front desk again to get it activated. 2) The shower in my room was broken. The shower head didn't work at all and only the handheld wand would turn on. The water was burning hot when turned to the immediate coldest setting. I like hot showers, but not when the only setting is painful burning skin. If you turned the dial any colder the water would shut off. 3) There was no do no disturb sign in my room. I asked for one through the app, again in person at the front desk, and also asked a housekeeper in the hallway if they had one. Each time I was promised someone would bring one to me. The next day, I asked a 4th time at the front desk. They checked and said that the entire hotel had run out do not disturb signs. I even asked for a post-it just to have something on the door. Instead, the front desk said they would mark my room as no housekeeping until after 2pm since I was staying for a full week and working overnight shifts. Sure enough, the next morning after I fell asleep, housekeeping was repeatedly knocking on my door at 8:30am to come in. When I asked, they said nothing had been noted on their end. 4) The hotel is loud and messy. On several occasions, there were a bunch of college age people filling the upstairs hallways. People were holding drinks and spilling beers and yelling at one another. Doors would slam throughout the night. This hotel reminds me of a college frat house party. 5) During my stay I received an automated survey on my phone and marked that I was not having a nice stay. Someone from the front desk reached out to me and said that the manager would give me a call. They asked when I was available and I gave them a several hour long window and they assured me someone would call me quickly. No one ever called. I let the front desk know that no one contacted me and they said someone else will reach out later. No one ever did. TLDR: AVOID!! read more

One of the outlets in my room was hanging out of the wall, the phone didn't work, restaurant was out of several breakfast items- however Mr Bs coffee in the lobby made me an excellent breakfast sandwich!! Hotel is located in downtown Albany about 20 minutes from the airport. Clean and giving 3 stars b/c the fifth floor was noisy and it was odd to have grown folks laughing and talking loudly enough to wake me. Otherwise, hotel was good. Restaurant with friendly staff. Shout out to Tiola for having the biggest smile and pleasant attitude. Another shout out to Yolanda at the bar who helped me out with menu items. If you're ever in the area, stop in and let me know your thoughts on it. Update: I changed rooms due to the noise mentioned. I then decide to grab dinner. Sessions Lounge has a tasty salmon and mashed potatoes. Came back to new room, and keycard didn't work. I received a red light. I go back to the desk advised a young lady who said No problem and starts rekeying card. Another older lady with white hair comes over and says, "What color was the light in the door?" I said Red. She says, "Oh because if it was green, you just turn the handle and lift up and the door opens." I looked at her and said, " Really? Well I guess it explains why I'm down here b/c the color was again red. I know how to open a door." She then gets offended and says, "I was only trying to help." Help what? The young lady was "helping" me and don't insult my intelligence. I already said it was RED. SMH. Just shameful. Due to this, I'm giving 2 stars for her very poor customer service. No one was talking to her. So WHY INSERT yourself where there was no problem. read more

Hotel staff were rude at check in . 13th floor exec. Club Lounge was disappointing, breakfast was subpar they don't even offer a protein ( bacon, ham, or turkey). When I asked the attendant if there was a protein offering she acted like I was rude for asking! The restaurant staff was excellent friendly, professional, and welcoming. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the front desk staff. From the moment I arrived, they were far more interested in chatting among themselves than helping me check in. The same thing happened when I checked out, with zero urgency or professionalism. I've stayed at Hiltons before and always had a great experience, but this was disappointing and honestly unacceptable. Booked a two night stay at the Hilton in Downtown Albany and I'm so glad we did! Don't believe the reviews, this place is awesome! Extremely friendly staff - Rachel at the front desk welcomed us. Stayed in a high floor facing the gorgeous State Capital. We had a newly furbished room with a lot of space and very comfortable bed. Yes there was a bit of construction outside. Loved the historic architecture and walkability. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend. read more

I stayed at Hilton Albany for five nights. The room was satisfactory and appeared clean. The hallway outside my room, however, was clearly unsanitary. Coffee cups, utensils, glasses, dishes and general rubbish everywhere. I also noticed a fork in the hall. The fork remained in the hall for the entire five days. Listen, I can handle a couple of issues. But, there's too many and I just arrived. I'm worried what additional problems I will have by the time I check out. The food--Caesar salad with add on of Salmon. Salad itself not edible. Salmon has zero flavor. I did eat it because I'm hungry. The clothes iron started leaking brown fluid all over my blouse and the ironing board so I stopped ironing. That was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I pray that my favorite blouse is not ruined. The remote back won't stay on--that's not a deal breaker. The flickering work station light--this is problematic. I do have some work to do. I have stayed here before. So, I'm not sure why this room sucks. Perhaps the floor I stayed on had newer rooms. The hotel is clearly old. The refrigerator cabinet door will not stay closed and there is no microwave--a bummer as I'm staying for 3 nights. A microwave would have been nice. As I write this I'm waiting for a new iron and ironing board. I'm disappointed to say the least. There are too many things wrong to give more than 1 star. At nearly $300 a night, I expect much better. Especially from a Hilton. There was a nice homeless guy holding the door for hotel guests upon arrival. It was a good thing because there wasn't a luggage car to be found and I had to make a couple trips. And, no, I'm not being facetious. He was very nice. read more

Stayed here last weekend and I am very disappointed. The hotel staff is not particularly welcoming. I got charged again when I checked out early for some reason (still waiting to hear back on refund). There is a huge homeless population right outside and feels unsafe walking to and from the hotel. Next time I am in the area, I will opt for a different hotel 100%. read more

I've stayed at this hotel on a couple of different occasions for conferences. The rooms are fine, nothing too special, some evidence of water damage on a wall, stuff like that, but clean enough and fine for a few days. The staff is friendly and helpful enough. On my last visit, the toilet wasn't working on first entering the room and they promptly switched my room. The conference rooms are also fine and rather typical. Breakfast is not included. They do have a restaurant and bar downstairs that look nice. I opted to eat at local restaurants for dinner, but did get to eat breakfast and lunch in the conference rooms. The food was pretty good, standard buffet for a large group fare. I am not picky and found most of it good enough. The breakfast was lackluster in my opinion, just some baked goods and a yogurt parfait that acutally looked delicious with granola and fruit, but I don't really enjoy yogurt so I did not have any. On previous visits the pool was closed for renovations, sadly it looks like they filled in their hot tub. I did try the pool on this last visit, it was freezing, and didn't seem to be working well, one day there was a sign on it, another day there were, it's hard to explain, like little groups of bubbles all over the top, it almost looked like the water was spotted. I did like that they had good pool hours, 7 am - 11 pm, which I personally feel should be standard at all pools, but normally isn't quite the case. All in all it is an OK hotel, good location right in the city near all the capitol buildings, and could be an option for your next visit to Albany! read more

They had to provide Box Fans! The smell of mildew and moisture fills this hotel. See pictures of the buckets everywhere and collapsing ceilings. 15 floor hotel. 3 working ice machines. Good luck finding them. Mini-fridges 1 of 3 worked. Hotel room keys deactivated after few hours. And they can't even keep track of what room your in. "System is down" was also heard a lot... As in can't use credit cards at bar / restaurant gotta put in on your room. Systems down! Or can we have a printout of charges upon checkout? Nope "Systems down" And if you're doing an event like we were, (a wedding). Don't look for Patricia or event coordinating staff because they intentionally avoided us for two days! Week later. If i could leave 0 stars i would and am not someone to say that. check in was at 4 and were told that room was not ready, no big deal so we decided to get dinner, come back 2 hours later and room was still not ready. asked to speak to manager about the situation and a man came out and i overheard " they are staying in one of the rooms rich people stay in and its not ready" the other person then said " if they dont want to stay here they can go somewhere else" it was absolutely ridiculous and there customer service was non professional. also got charged twice but thanks to discover that was resolved quickly. seems like the whole brand may be going down hill tho because trying to talk to customer service at the main website i never got a single response. hate leaving a review like this but it will be hard for me to every stay in a hilton brand location again. read more

We arrived for our stay after a ten hour drive and we tried checking in, they refused our room to us. We were called lairs and threatened to call the police at us after we got upset. They refused to cancel the room and we got kicked out and charged for the room. This was a horrible experience, I highly recommend people look elsewhere!! read more

So, fun fact: I actually had my wedding reception here in 1995. It's changed ownership a few times over the past 26 years, and is currently the Albany Hilton. We were in town for an event and decided to make a weekend of it. Our room was on the 10th floor and surprisingly quiet. Another surprise was the size of the room: larger than expected and more than adequate for a couple. The trade off? The bathroom was quite cramped. Extra points for the super cool LED mirror, though. The room included a fridge and coffee maker, plus a safe. The bed was a bit lumpy but not intolerable. The sheet had a dark stain that looked like blood. The A/C worked a little too well (brrrr!) and the toilet ran all night after one flush before bed. In spite of the negatives, the downtown location can't be beat. It's a three minute walk (albeit uphill) to the Capitol and the Empire State Plaza. The on-site parking is NOT included, however, nor is breakfast. I'm giving three stars because I felt it was a tad pricey, plus the carpets in the room and common areas have definitely seen better days. read more

I rarely post hotel reviews, and never post them on multiple review sites...but I am for Hilton Albany. Friends -- especially those who frequent Hilton brand hotels -- please know that the Hilton Albany is the worst Hilton hotel that I have ever stayed in...and I stay in a lot of Hilton brand hotels. The best thing about the hotel was the completely normal buffet breakfast. Everything else was sub-par. The King Suite room -- with its missing door between the rooms (don't be fooled by the picture that shows a door), its lack of AC (they told us to open the window), the smallest imaginable bathroom, thin-as-paper walls, and dungeon feel (one small window) -- is pretty awful. Forget about "diamond benefits" -- not even a bottled water was offered and, when requested, they tried to charge the room for it. There was nothing wrong with staff, it is just, structurally, a very bad hotel that should not have the Hilton brand. Trust me, stay somewhere else. read more

This is my first stay here. I usually stay at Hampton Inns. This is a shabby, old and not too clean hotel. When I booked the reservation, I booked a king room on the Executive floor. I was told it would have a walk in shower . When I got here, I was told the executive floor was under "renovation" not available. The room I got is terrible. A hole in the wall, stains on the rug, chopped bathtub and a toilet about the height for a toddler. I would give it 0 stars if that was a choice . read more

This is a very unsafe hotel, especially at night. Also there were prostitutes and many sketchy people in the lobby during the middle of the night! This place is like a BROTHEL. Hilton has really gone down hill here. I had to change my room 4 times. Each room has adjoining room door which isn't sealed well and you can hear every cough and fart and loud tv in the other persons room. I also had to listen to other couples having loud sex which was really awful and traumatizing. My 3rd room reeked of URINE because apparently someone peed all over the room in multiple areas and the hotel doesn't bother to clean it up or just change the carpet at this point. It was meh. While I can see that as a newer facility it was probably a beautiful hotel, it seems those days are long in the past. Everything feels dated and old. Carpets in our room were frankly kind of gross. Looked (and felt) like they were long overdue for a good carpet cleaning. There was stuff embedded in the carpet fibers. Room was ok, but nothing more. Whole building felt like it needed better maintenance and upkeep. Not impressed, but with limited options downtown - it was the best we could find. read more

Absolute nightmare! I am currently sitting in a room that is 78 degrees, a room that cost $200... upgrade executive floor. Thermostat Is not working, called to get help. They brought me a box fan and informed me there was nothing they could do. I am on the 13th floor. A box fan in my ear. The window opened a crack to allow cool air, and they can do nothing for me. The bathroom is nasty and crusty. They will not tell you at the front desk, they tell the poor maintenance crew to deal with upset customers. We have been charge $320 for the room for 2 nights and a $150 and a $47.90 fee??? What is happening here? Why are we continuously charged?? This is awful. We are miserable. And Hilton is just soaking up the money. read more

Stayed here for two nights while in town on business. I always stayed away from downtown Albany for safety and security reason that I was told but due to rental car pricing and availability, I didn't drive up to a Saratoga and decided to stay here instead. I arrived past 10pm and night staff often is not nice but not here. She was very nice and explained to me about breakfast and lounge options. Room was spacious, might be a bit dated but still clean. AC worked great and kept me cool at night. Fridge was in my room. Although their executive lounge is open, I recommend eating breakfast at the restaurant on the lobby floor. They currently offer from the menu and service is prompt. I liked my eggs benedict. Unlike many other Hiltons in the US, executive lounge is open. But I wouldn't put too much expectations yet. It was really small and minimal. Walking distance to the State Capitol, I enjoyed late afternoon walk near there and felt safe walking alone. I would stay here again when my business brings me back in the area. read more

After I spoke to a manager in the morning, he took my double off told me to contact the third party for a refund . Angelo in customer service refused to refund after I had already been told I'd get one. He is rude and disrespectful. Obviously they are allowed to sell hotel rooms with no working showers. I'm so sad This is a Hilton. When I called the actual customer service 800 number they were very nice and helpful but this was two days later. read more

0 STARS. We booked a room with a king size bed for a wedding we had. We needed in the room at least an hour and a half earlier to be able to get ready. For some reason that was a huge issue for this hotel. They offered us a double with queen beds. Ofcourse thats not what we got, they are two full beds with STAINS ON THE SHEETS. The room is disgusting. Stains, everything is scratched up, the lights have stains or are different colors, so dingy and dirty. Front desk was understaffed, rude, hung up on me when I called them. Hilton Albany - I spent a month there one night. Main lobby door: broken. Lobby coffee shop has, taped to the floor, a *rat king* knotted extension cord placed where you walk in to order. The cord is plugged into a sandwich warming cabinet. (Say it with me...Fire hazard). Room has: shower head at perfect height if you're 5'6" (short kings rejoice - I AM NOT A SHORT KING, I AM NOT A SHORT KING, I AM NOT A SHORT KING), mold on bathroom ceiling, chipping ceiling paint and paint on the wall that shows prior repairs (AKA: the Landlord special). The beds sagged - which is a great way to work on your core while you sleep #MultiTasking. The HVAC is a trip. The one sheet instructions at the thermostat will let you know that in the winter there is heat and in the summer air conditioning. You get one or the other..hotel's choice So in the spring it was heat. 70º in the room. Not being a fan of nursing home temps - I had a problem. What do the instructions say...open the window. 35º and my window is open the sounds of downtown Albany and to the breeze coming from the Hudson River. Normally, one would expect a mint on their pillow in a hotel room. Not so here. Rather, I was greeted by the sight of what I assume was the former occupant's obviously unwashed underwear on the floor along with a bed that looked as though it'd just been slept in. Truly, a warm welcome. Our switch to cleaner quarters was then stymied by a front desk agent who required several views of my phone screen until he conceded that I'd booked through the Hilton website itself and not a third-party site as he claimed and begrudgingly switched my family's rooms, albeit not without forgetting to program our new keys. Not content to stop there, our breakfast vouchers were denied the next morning and once again we had to go through a song and dance until they were honored - although to be fair, given that the initial room my husband and I had been given would've looked like a Pollack painting beneath a black light, perhaps that was an attempt by the staff to spare us all some diarrhea as an apology for the previous issues. By that point we just wanted to check out as quickly as possible and so didn't argue the point. Unfortunately, we'd left behind a pair of boots in our rush to leave and had to return to the hotel twice before they'd tell us that they'd been placed in the lost and found. At first glance this Hilton looks like you're going to get a swanky stay... you'll soon see it's not that way. Checking in took over 20 mins waiting for the ONE woman to help the two ppl in front of us while another guy stood by behind the counter... Get up to the room and it's typical. There is plenty of space in the room but WHOA. The bathroom was smaller than my own at home. They shoved a whole lot into a weeeee bit o space. To make it easier: Pros --AWESOME bar food. like i was blown away at the delish quality and taste. so recommend the flatbreads and the tortellini pesto --mini fridge is always a plus --lobby had plenty of space for mad ppl --central location to downtown and all there is to do at night --nice view from the upper rooms Cons --the room stayed warm. i like near arctic temps when I sleep and both the woman and I woke up in the middle of the night multiple times to kick off blankets and take clothes off. i put the stat down to 66 and i think the room remained around 72 --check in took forever and the revolving door was busted. carrying mad bags and opening a door is not as easy as it seems -- 17 flippin bucks a day to park?! screw that man --minuscule bathrooms -- overall a lot more wear and tear to this place than expected read more

I have talked to staff several times and have had nothing but rude and uncooperative responses.
