I used this company to move. I was a little worried based on the reviews posted here. They turned out to be the BEST movers! They were a little late on the move date but showed up READY TO WORK. I highly recommend Hills Movers! Four guys showed up with two big trucks--as promised. They worked diligently and got it all done in 8 hours. It's really unfortunate having to post this but for businesses that are actually trying their best, particularly with Covid and potentially loosing to this company, I need to share - I have used Hills Moving several times in the past and unfortunately over the years, I have noticed a decline overall but this last experience was absolutely terrible! I had very little pieces of furniture to move - literally 1 bedframe, 1 dresser, a coffee table and a desk, along with some boxes - 3 guys took 4 hrs and left the few pieces I had, in horrible condition - damaged with marks and holes in the side of my dresser, chips off the edges of my coffee table and some sort of dirt marks everywhere- my pieces were white...while also telling my mother, they were "so hungover, out till 3am the night before (they were staggering while carrying my belongings) and letting her know they accept tips". $700.00 later...and I'll likely need to pay twice that to replace my furniture - I do not recommend Hills Movers when looking for professional, efficient movers. read more

I have used Hills moving several times to move various items, business and personal. From large oversized professional monster cabinets to over packed boxes of books. They have been on time, quick and effecient. The packing service, moving and overall schlepping of the items that I needed moved from one place to another was completed without concern. They provided me with free boxes, packing tape and even paper to wrap my glass! I had the pleasure of speaking to Brandon on the phone and he was knowledgeable and reasonable. The pricing has always been fair and appropriate. Despite the covid madness, I was able to set a date with Hills and get the job done. Thanks so much guys for all that you do! Worst experience I have ever had with any moving company. They arrived late, vaped and texted throughout the move. Went missing for 1 hour and 15 minutes between pickup and drop off. Broke my clients ornament. Myself and my client helped move. I covered and took all items in the dining and living room outside to the truck in the same amount of time it took them to move 1 couch. While I was busy, my clients and I noticed we haven't seen them in awhile. I went to the basement and to my surprise I see all four guys laughing and one sitting down on the floor texting. When I escalated this to management, the owner himself threatened to take illegal and criminal action against me, which I will be taking to the appropriate authorities. I will be taking them court. They believe that I'm only a realtor but I work for the Ontario Court of Justice and this will be going to court. read more

When they came to do our quote we were told they were going to bring us boxes - never happened. They told us NOT to package the artwork ourselves or they couldn't insure it - so we didn't and when we got it back from them ALL of it is damaged - some of it destroyed. When we asked one of the movers about the broken glass in one of the frames - he said oh ya i had to pull broken glass out of another one this morning when we were loading. At this point they had been with us unloading for OVER AN HOUR and had not bothered to say a word to us. The office manager is trying to insist we use his "extensive network" of contacts to fix all the art they damaged - as if we would allow them to touch what they have already damaged - rather than submit a claim to insurance. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy - some of my late mother in laws most prized possessions have been damaged beyond repair - and the only response we are getting from the company is a rather rude attitude. read more

This company claims to offer long distance moving services but buyer beware! Let me set the scene for you. In 2017 we moved to MTL the total cost of our move was $3000. In 2018 we moved back to Whitby and it cost $3700. The day we returned to Ontario the weather started out a little rainy and finished off with a horrendous wind storm. The movers apparently left Whitby at 6am and arrived in MTL at 12:30pm. We were told to expect them between 10:30am and 11:00am. When I asked why they were late ai was told they had to stop for gas and a bite to eat. Hmmmm! That added an hour and a half to the bill. They loaded the truck and we were all ready to leave by 3:30pm. My husband and I left the same time as the moving trucks (there were 2 - I'll explain shortly), at 3:30pm. We arrived at our new home in Whitby around 8:30pm. The movers arrived after 11:00pm. What a great how-do-ya-do to our new neighbours. It was suggested by their boss to unload one truck containing our bed and then they would return the following morning with the other truck - and unload the remainder of our household goods as it was simply too late to continue and we agreed it was. The movers however did try to encourage us to let them finish unloading both trucks. They left just before 1:00am. The owner called to tell me that he would take a look at the employees time sheets and make a determination about the actual amount for the move. Keep in mind the initial quote was $3400 to which I countered saying it was too high. I was then offered 2800/3000 which sounded reasonable. It was what I had anticipated. We got a phone call the next morning around 8am advising us they were 10 minutes away. They never confirmed a delivery time the night before. Needless to say we were stumbling around in a bleary-eyed haze having been called to attention after grabbing little sleep from the late night prior. This is where it really gets juicy! The movers arrive and one of them comes in to our home and tells me the cost was actually $3700 plus tax but the load dropped in the morning was free! What? If the drivers had actually driven from MTL to Whitby in the time it takes - 5 hrs. They would have been able to unload and be gone before 11pm. The other issue is the company does not have a transport truck for long distance moves. The trucks they do have are outdated, require multiple stops at the gas pump (according to the movers and owner) and travel 90/95km max speed. Also, the movers take breaks for dinner and lunch while your waiting for the to arrive with your goods. To travel from MTL (Kirkland) to Whitby it takes approximately 5 hrs. If your travelling in one of those trucks it takes approximately 5.24 hrs. Return trip is 10.5 hrs. Plus 3 hrs to load and 2 hrs to unload that's a total of 15.5 hrs - @ 179.00 hr plus tax should equal about $3100. Instead it ended up with a challenging argument over the final bill and an agreement to pay $3400. Other issues include insurance coverage for $10,000 which is simply inadequate should the entire contents of your home end up damaged. A moving company should cover more than that amount. They also won't cover any IKEA furniture. It's in the contract. They destroyed an antique apple picking ladder, smashed three serving dishes, lost our step ladder, and almost destroyed our coffee table. We listened to the movers constantly grumbling about the number of hours they had worked and the bickering between themselves-clearly disgruntled. In the end it seems the company uses the highest quote possible - in this case 19 hours - and works to the outer limit of that timeframe rather than doing the job in best timeframe possible for the benefit of customer and the customer's cost.
