I didn't expect it to be too great, but, I was surprised. The price is great $6 a person if your 12-adult. The animals were well taken care of, while we were there they were being checked on and fed. They had a variety of animals, giraffe, owls, tiger, & peacocks roaming. I was disappointed in the Reptile section, only had 1 large lizard. I would recommend this zoo for a day trip. read more

Honestly this zoo is solid! A to. Or animals for a small town zoo and they are mostly very engaged and active. The tiger was even growling which I haven't seen from a Large Cat in a while. Zoo layout makes a nice walk and the price is extremely cheap (especially for military). Not a ton of food options and the gift shop is very small. Also not really any experience packages available but overall this is a great spot for an hour or two out with the family! read more

I think I would give less stars if I didn't really enjoy being with my family. The poor animals at this zoo have small areas to live. They also don't seem to be couples for some animals and just a single animal that looked sad. . The zoo is large enough and you are able to see most animals. The time of day we went was right after lunch. The animals for the most part were napping and staying in the shade. Overall. I'm conflicted. I liked being able to see most animals. We've been coming to the Clovis Zoo on a nearly weekly basis for the past year. When we first started visiting, I wasn't that impressed. The grounds didn't seem well maintained, and the quality of some of the animal enclosures was concerning. Many exhibits were empty, but the lack of signage made it unclear which had animals. The more obscure animals (such as the lovable Coati) were impossible to identify without the help of staff. Now, I'm genuinely amazed at the improvements we've seen in such a short time! The grounds and enclosures have been cleaned up significantly. The animals seem happier and more active. The recent introduction of high quality signage has reduced confusion and helped us learn a lot more about the animals. The staff are clearly motivated, very friendly, and the effort they've put into the zoo in recent months shows. The occasional events (like zoolights at Christmas) have been a real treat. While there are still some improvements we'd love to see (such as the rumored expansion of the tiger exhibit, which seems to be in some kind of limbo, and better bathroom upkeep), it's been so encouraging to see the recent changes nonetheless. The zoo is our favorite spot in Clovis now, and we're so grateful for whatever/whoever is behind such an increase in quality! read more

Many of the animals in this zoo are in cramped, dusty pens and look rather sad. Many zoos advertise their purpose, which includes rehabilitation and breeding programs. This zoo appears to be only be there to provide patrons to see rare animals. I left wishing they would close and liberate the animals to other zoos with more resources. The Bio Park in Albuquerque and the zoo in Carlsbad is much much better for a visit. read more

It was a fun little zoo for a small town. They offered a military discount so it was only $10 for my family to go in. They had more animals than we thought and the park was clean. They should definitely offer feeding the giraffes for a little bit more money, but we had a good time. read more

It is so nice to have a zoo here in such a small town. My kids love to come. We really enjoy sitting and watching the monkeys and lemurs. New director is making good changes and trying to raise money for bigger enclosures. Noticed some new signage. I'm hopeful for improvements because it is really nice to have. read more

I am exceedingly impressed with this Zoo. They have a tiger and two giraffes among many other types of animals. This is a great little Zoo for such a small town. The only reason I take a star away is because if you have the expectation of other Zoos (i.e. Dallas, Denver, Columbus) you might be a little disappointed. But there are MANY pluses. It is easy to walk with children, it is cheap, and the staff is very nice. We had a keeper tell us all about what she was feeding the animals when we last went. We try to make a trip to this Zoo a weekly event at our house and it's easy to do with a small accessable Zoo. read more

If you're looking for animals you'll find them here but not many and don't expect much from the maze of pathways. Price is pretty reasonable but I felt like the main attraction were the amount of peacocks, ducks and geese throughout the park. Didn't see any information about shows or places where people could pet animals. Many of the encounters are double fenced which puts you far away from the animals or doesn't allow you to see into many of the cages. No map or ticket provided and signage is pretty poor except for a few arrows. Never found any map displaying where certain animals were located. Left a lot to be desired and I've been to a lot of zoos big and small. read more

If I could give negative five stars I would. The zoos animals are depressed dyeing and I don't think many have water. All of the animals looked so sad and their enclosures only had small overhangs or nothing at all to protect them from bad weather. Was a maze of paths with about one animal in each enclosure. all the structures are poorly built and seem very weak. The animals seemed to be begging for help and wanting out. I hope one day this zoo gets shutdown,no one supports this zoo anymore and all the animals won't have to suffer anymore. Small zoo with great use of space. They had some notable animals including but not limited to; zebras, a tiger, a wolf, giraffes, a variety of raptors like hawks. They did not have rhinos or elephants but that's ok considering the space limitation. Took about 3.5 hours to see the whole zoo. Most of it is shaded. The concession stand was closed but there are drink machines in the zoo. If you play pokemon go there is about a dozen pokestops, a gym, and a ton of pokemon. We had a great time! read more

This zoo blew my expectations completely out of the water. For a small town zoo its got a lot going on. A shady walk, a great place to bring kids, tons of animals. This zoo is very sad. The animals are depressed. The herd animals seem lonely. And the the conditions these each animal exhibit is in horrible condition. The housing they have for these animals is horrible. They're basically just little overhangs. They really need to find these animals nee homes where they have room to move around. I travel and visit zoos all around and I was HIGHLY disappointed with this zoo. The tiger was pacing back and forth in a small space, climbing in and out of his empty water pool. He had no water. He was hissing at us, probably because he was thirsty and snuck in a area the size I'm comfortable putting my two medium sized dogs in, definitely NOT big enough for a large TIGER. His mouth was open and he was smacking his mouth, leaving his mouth open as he's pacing back and forth. He was so thirsty. The spider monkeys had no water either, they were smacking their lips and acting thirsty. They did have some celery in their pin for them to snack on, and aside from acting really thirsty, they were ok. I saw someone else said the zoo is like a maze of paths. I agree. I was completely confused about where I was when I completed a loop. There needs to be signs on how to exit. Children 2 and under are free, if I'm remembering correct. 3-12 was $2, and adults were $4, if I remember correctly. The zoo was pretty empty and I understand why, the animals need better treatment. I was impressed at the amount of animals for such a small zoo, and the variety was different than at some other smaller zoos. But I'm very very sad and disappointed for those animals. Overall, a decent zoo and worth the $3 admission. Many different animals, including a bald eagle. We spent about an hour in the zoo. Drawbacks: Some exhibits were built so that it was difficult to see the animal; and the sizes of some exhibits seemed too big for the animal, and others too small. read more

Huge expansion and improvements every year. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They even took the time to explain to my daughter what they feed the animals and why. Large zoos typically make you pay for "backstage" passes to have keepers talk to kids about their animals. Low entrance fees and kid friendly. I was surprised at the number of exhibits given the location of the zoo. The staff is helpful and does a great job keeping up the place even with limited resources. I was not expecting much for such a small town and with admission only being 4 dollars.This was a small,but very nice zoo.It was more like a santuary.The animals all looked well taken care of with plenty of toys and room to run around.I got to see some animals I have never seen before.I was surprised to see a hyena,the largest rodent of the world (can't remember what it was called),a zeedonky(zebra/donkey),and many others.Make sure you bring some quarters to feed the ducks! We were not expecting much but we were definitely surprised! It is a nice sized zoo that is well kept. It has a variety of animals. The fact that the animals are rescued and not able to be returned to the wild was a plus. The buffalo, hyena and monkeys were family favorites. The staff are friendly. read more
