We stayed at camping spot on lakeside and it was perfect! I'm very surprised that we didn't get a lot of mosquitoes. Maybe it could be something do with lake itself. Who knows! The bathroom is clean but I'm very impressed how CLEAN in the shower site!!! I love their shower because it's clean and hot water!!!! They have the specific time to clean the shower which they closes from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM daily. I would say it is worth to wait because we get a clean shower stall that I can't complain!!! We got there and backed in. We liked the site at first, but decided to drive around the loop next door in search of a more suitable site. One was found that was unoccupied so we went back to the gatehouse to ask for a possible change. "Sure, no problem." He checked it and it was open. Our new site had privacy, good space, was clean and near a water spigot, the bathrooms, and was only a couple of sites from the manager, Steve, his wife Kay, and great dogs Kaya and Trump. Steve and Kay were friendly, informative, and went above and beyond to help us with any needs (like jumping my truck battery that I ran down while setting up camp with the doors open for too long.) Both dogs were very friendly and fun to visit with. Other positives included hikes along the lake, swimming at the Buck Pond beach (one young guy fishing from a kayak caught a 3.5 lb largemouth bass), and much, much more. Overall, Buck Pond Campground was a fine place to stay and enjoy the Adirondacks!

The sites are nicely spaced so that you're not bumping up against an RV rave. As with any campground, some sites are significantly nicer than others. We were in site 84, pretty damn sweet with its own little trail to the lake. Not gonna divulge what we scouted as THE best which you need to reserve 9 months in advance FYI. Schedule that with your French Laundry resies. They also had boat rentals and a map of the many waterways to explore. Highly suggest the rope swing if you come across it on Rainbow Lake. The ranger/campground manager Bob is just generally awesome. He fueled our little firelet into a great big burner. Smoky the Bear, watch out! Bob also has a ski store in Jay, NY and is a part time maple syrup maker should anyone fancy a winter excursion to the Adirondacks.

A small lake, no large motorized boats are allowed, so it is quiet and peaceful. In fact, the greatest disturbances tend to be other campers who insist on playing their music loudly. Thankfully, there is usually a good amount of space between sites, and most people respect the quiet hours. While this campground is a long way away from where I live, it is definitely worth the drive. If you are interested in fall camping, I can't even being to describe how beautiful it is to wake up in the morning to see the lake surrounded by a riot of colors.

Located close to Indian Lake, the Lewey Lake Campground has multiple entrances off of Route 30N with the main campground the furthest south and what I have labeled on the Yelp map. Keep in mind that the address does not come up properly on Google Maps or Bing maps so look at the Yelp placement for more accuracy. We were at the furthest north campsites which are pretty isolated from everyone else. The sites our group stayed at were situated right next to a stream which was great for sleeping. You couldn't hear anyone around you and even with the goings on at our lower campsite we couldn't hear them at all. There only outhouses at this location of the campground but it is a short drive to the main sites that have real bathrooms and showers along with a nice, simple beach. Despite how close it is to Route 30N, I definitely felt isolated in a good way and would highly recommend staying there for people looking for some interesting camping with reasonably convenient location.

I just returned home from my 4th visit to Voyageur, the last 3 in as many years, and it's by far my…read morefavourite place to go camping. We stay at Portage campground (there are 4 campground all together), because it's by far the most wooded and private. The lots are huge, and almost completely closed in. It's difficult to hear anyone else unless they are being very loud, which you're not supposed to do. There is a "no excessive noise at any time" rule in place. The lots are so big that we had room for 3 tents (a 3 person, a 4 person and a 6 person tent) plus a 12 x 12 screen house and two cars. We rented two lots as we were a group of 8 people, and put the picnic table from the other lot on ours and still had plenty of space for everyone to move around, set up outdoor games, and sit, distanced, around the fire. I will only plan camping trips here.
