This seems to be a warning from the Bishop Police Department to deter travelers from visiting. Meanwhile, Mammoth Lake appears to be thriving and progressing, while Bishop seems to be deteriorating due to a lack of tourists. I can confidently say I will never stay in Bishop again.

As a child I read a story about Manzanar from the POV of a child. That story stayed with me all…read morethese years. The NPS has recreated some of the buildings here including the bath house, school, mess hall and 'improved' living quarters where walls were installed between family living quarters - replacing the blankets that were hungs as "walls". One of the things I remember in the book was how the toilets and showers were communal and how embarrassed they were to have to do such private business in a public space. No partitions, no privacy on the toilet or shower. Meals were also communal and menus were created by persons unfamiliar with an asian diet. Also from the book the author talks about sweet peaches being put over the rice. Definitely not how rice was eaten. Meals were served on a schedule and each 'block' of quarters had their own mess hall menu. Residents could earn a couple of dollars a month by working in the mess hall. Buildings were erected so hastily the wood was not dried creating gaps between boards so the desert sand would blow in covering everything with sand and allowing scorpians inside. Several families were housed in each building, and as mentioned, with no walls between. Camps were not prepared to educate the children and the first classes were held sitting outside on the ground. Over time teachers, furniture and supplies were provided. So much more information is provided. A short film runs on the hour in the visitor center. A self driving tour (one way) around the acres of camp include informational signs and some recreated buildings while other structures are just a sign (bldg 1, bldg 2, etc.) or foundation. The park has also excavated and reestablished gardens created by residents. A poignant and interesting history lesson for us all. Definitely worth a visit. The museum includes a lot of personal stories and information. The park rangers on duty were very helpful. Gift shop includes a number of books and a few other NPS souveniers. Be sure to get your passport stamped. Public restrooms by the entrance. A handicap drop off point is close to the building. On site parking is a short walk to the visitor center.

Even as a visitor, I find these conditions to be uncomfortable, so I could not imagine being forced to live out here in subhuman conditions for an indefinite period of time. However, that is what over 120,000 Japanese Americans and Japanese Nationals living in the USA were forced to do during WWII - and 10,000 men, women, children and babies were forced to do just that at Manzanar. The Visitors Center is only open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday - so we were not able to see it, but we were able to eat our lunches in the Mess Hall. I also explored the barracks, and saw the rest of this historic site by bus and on foot. Don't miss seeing Merritt Park, the Children's Village area, and the Issei Obelisk. This site is a powerful reminder that History repeats itself, and visiting Manzanar is an extremely moving and meaningful experience for everyone. Peace.

They said it must have gone to an old address and then they sent me home to apply for the renewal online. THEY NEVER CORRECTED THE ADDRESS. Such a simple task was not completed and my DL went elsewhere. It's a day away from Oct and I still have not gotten my license and they made it seem like it was my error. Expect the most minimal of customer service.

Upon my second visit, with the requested document, I was then told I needed something showing my physical address. In Mammoth Lakes we do not get US mail at our physical address due to snow. Nothing else was indicated. Upon my third visit, with the document requested, I was then told it also had to show my PO Box. Nothing else was indicated. Shortly after this visit, I hadn't been anywhere else, I came down with the RSV virus. I was extremely sick for three weeks. Upon my fourth visit, with the requested documents, I was then told I needed legal documents showing my name changes from two previous marriages and divorce. Documents 40 and 50 years old. Needless to say, I was extremely furious and frustrated! Why did it take FOUR visits to be told this?! And this was after waiting in line for a ticket, the employee verifying my paperwork, given a number and once again waiting. It was a waste of my time and money and theirs. Each visit was a 90 minute round trip along with all the time waiting. I am flying in June so decided to just go with a passport. Which I easily obtained. The employees need to be better trained as to what documents are needed from the person sitting in front of them to eliminate this from happening again to someone else. When I checked off all the boxes of what was needed, nowhere did it state needing these last documents. It wasn't until I googled exactly what was requested did it show this. It shouldn't have taken four visits to the DMV!

Embarrassing display of community policing today…read more I called dispatch to report an injured goose tangled in fishing line, sitting right out in the open grass by the Plaza Park pond, literally five miles from headquarters. I left my full name and direct callback number so the responding unit could locate us immediately, and dispatch explicitly told me they were sending someone. Instead, I watched an hour of taxpayer dollars burn for zero effort: one cruiser slowly circled the parking lot through rolled-up windows and drove off, while another blasted sirens nearby without anyone ever stepping foot on the grass. To make matters worse, they never even bothered to call my phone with an update, leaving me waiting around like a dummy. If Visalia PD isn't equipped or simply doesn't handle animal calls, don't take my name and number, promise a dispatch, and then completely ghost me with zero communication. Reroute me to someone who will actually do the job. Don't take cars for a lazy spin in the A/C and pretend you're responding. Complete failure of basic competence and leadership. Do better.

The ONLY thing he gave a damn about was my license and registration. Then I found out later that even though the accident occurred on a public street, Fresno PD doesn't file police reports. Huh? Is this normal that there's no report filed? I found out later that Fresno PD is incredibly corrupt. The officers are useless idiots and don't want to do any work. Maybe quick to abuse their power, but useless otherwise. About a week after my accident, the deputy chief and several officers were arrested in a drug sting being run by the FBI and ATF. So, yeah. Pretty corrupt and good for nothing.
