Our women's group really likes playing at Highlander on our way from Everett over to Chelan. It's peaceful, the course is in great shape with good signage and directions to the cart path, and it is a beautiful course with amazing views. It's also reasonably priced. read more

Sun and fun on this course perched on the hillside above the Columbia river. Nice people, good views and a fun layout mean a good day golfing. Our family of 7 stopped in for a meal before heading 3 hours home from camping in Lucerne. It was 90 degrees outside and we were sat in half sun even though there was a large table under the tent area. My husband and I kept moving the table and chairs to chase the shade in an attempt to keep ourselves and our children somewhat cool. Our waitress was an adorable pregnant woman with a beautiful smile and super cute dimples. She was friendly and took our order after giving us the happy hour menu. We ordered 3 happy hour items, and when I ordered the Asian chicken salad, she said, "that's my personal favorite" to which I replied, great! The food arrived and we were underwhelmed but the prices for happy hour were dirt cheap so it was expected. (Nachos were shredded cheese hardened on chips with large slices of white onion and jalapeños) We were so damn hot and no one refilled our ice waters. No one came to check on us. We were ignored after our happy hour appetizers came. We waited. Still no water. No salad. My husband was over it and went inside to ask our waitress about my salad. She said "you want a salad?" He said "well, if it's not coming I'm not sure if she still wants it." He came and told me that she didn't put my salad order in and I was like why? She literally told me it's her favorite. So she forgot? No big deal, she should make it right, yea? No. She continued to ignore us until, once again, my sweaty husband went inside to ask for the check. Beautiful view. Pretty waitresses. As part of a camping vacation destination, Highlander was perfect! We were two days in on our trip and decided golf would be a good addition; this course, for the view alone, was well worth the price. Friendly club house staff, challenging and fun layout, and sunshine. Only criticism was the bunkers, sand type and texture were all over the place. We paid $152 for two green fees, plus cart. Had the fairway French dip and my wife had a burger which were both great.. but the tomato caprese martini starter was awesome! May just order a couple of those next time for my main meal.. and the view.. that view is amazing! read more

golf course is beautiful and in great shape, enough though pace of play is ridiculous. to play at a 4 hour pace is a little out of line. then to have a Marshall tell you you have to let people play through is a bit much. I would not recommend this course unless you like speed golf. just so you know we finished 9 in 2 hours and 20 minutes. read more

Designed by golf architect John Steidel and built by the artistic hand of Jim Haley (of Bandon Dunes fame), The Highlander Golf Course is an 18-hole, 6,466-yard beauty in East Wenatchee - It is carved atop a cliff nearly 900 feet above the mighty Columbia River and offers sweeping views of the river gorge and surrounding landscapes. So precarious is the perch, that the scorecard offers a warning to golfers on the 9th hole; "If your ball ends up in the ravine - Do Not Attempt to Retrieve - EXTREME DANGER." But alas... if you need to be told not to venture into that ravine, then you, my friend, have issues far beyond a simple lost ball! Located just 150 miles from Seattle and 170 miles from Spokane, the Highlander Golf Club resides on the Eastern slopes of the Cascade mountain range and is easily accessible from anywhere in the state. The course was originally designed in the mold of the classic Scottish Highlands courses but received an overhaul in 2010 - It now sports three different holes where golfers must carry their shots across canyons ingeniously carved into cliff-side - Since the overhaul the course is more player friendly than in years past - But be warned, due to the exposed nature of its hilltop location, the weather (specifically the wind) can be more of a hazard than any of the on-course obstacles. Once on the greens, players are treated with medium-fast, well-manicured, and multi-tiered surfaces putting surfaces. To compliment the golf course, a large clubhouse awaits - It features a fully stocked pro shop and full-service restaurant. My friend chose the Highlander for her wedding venue, so although we did not use the course itself, the view was very pretty. I think there was a snag with a party that was using the clubhouse before us (overlapping booking mistake, maybe), and they were only going to give us a half hour before the ceremony to set-up...HAHA. In the end, they fixed the mistake, I guess by booting the other people out? Not sure, but it ended up OK. There was a tournament that same day, so it was a little weird having people trying to come in and out of the bathroom/locker room, while the bridal parties are trying to get ready & dressed. Not sure if that is normal since I've never been to a wedding at this type of venue.... Food was catered by the Highlander; I thought it was pretty tasty (fajita-ish dishes). Bar made stiff drinks & there was a cute outside tented area for dancing. read more

This course is average to slightly above average from a course condition standpoint. There were some bare spots and some dead grass in play but even still, I would definitely recommend playing Highlander. It is pretty wide open around the fairways. you can get away with errant tee shots on most of the holes. You are playing up on a cliff, overlooking the Columbia river so the views are fantastic. On the course, the are are a number of blind shots so playing it the first time can be rather challenging. The greens were in average condition. They were a little longer than I would like but they were consistent. Highlander has gas powered golf carts with no GPS, a good clubhouse bar, and a small driving range (about 8 pads). I made a tee time on the Highlander website and paid $27 (rate in effect after 2:00 pm) on a Saturday. For that price I would play Highlander anytime. read more

Played mid-week on Wednesday--it was sooooooo windy. The course was beautiful, the staff were wonderful; they even let us park our motorhome so we could play a round. The views were spectacular. Would play there again, but by report not on a Wednesday because it is always windy on Wednesdays according to a regular player! We had fun! read more

36 holes on a spectacular late-summer day with (thankfully) light breezes. Conditions were very good considering the greens were punched 2 weeks prior. Highlights included friendly Starter, quality of the clubhouse, and, the views from an excellent perch of real estate. Prices are a little higher than I expected (only reason for the 3-star rating - otherwise would've been a solid 4). They've added some trees to it and redid many of the bunkers. Tough slopey greens if you hit your approach to the high side of the pin. Well taken care of with no noticable bare patches, or, weeds/diseased greens, etc. A fair test of golf. read more

Terrific people, terrific course, terrific attention to improvement... We golfed there last Saturday and couldn't have been more pleased with the way we were treated, as usual. We chose the golf package through the Coast Wenatchee hotel, as we have often done, and couldn't have been happier with the combination of lunch, golf, breakfast, and the room - all included in the competitive price. The golf course was groomed perfectly, the start was on time, the starter was friendly and very informative and the new course improvements are right on track. We are headed back in two weeks. The worst changes to a golf course I have experienced in 40 years of golf. This was a good,not great course.....it should now be sold to Disney because it is an amusement park. Hole 17 ---- absolutely silly. SAVE YOUR MONEY. read more
