I really enjoyed the Highland Links , if the sand traps were bunkers I could have been in Scotland. The coarse is in good shape , take an extra sleeve of balls the fescue is brutal. If you can find your ball you certainly can't hit it out (very far). Nice people in pro-shop, the starter took time to detail the coarse. I will definitely be back next year when I visit cape cod. Had a great time playing today, though it wasn't my best round. It's a challenging course if you aren't very accurate. Lots of fescue, thick brush, and trees off the fairway. Bring extra balls The views were stellar, pace of play was decent and the fairways and greens were well maintained. I only played 9 holes but I've heard the 2nd loop from different tees makes it different enough to be worth 18 holes if you have time. read more

I played a game of nine holes with my dad and a couple of other people. It was a beautiful day and the game was really fun. We ordered a cart to hold all of our things. The course was clean and well maintained. The staff was also accommodating and friendly, even though they were incredibly busy. I enjoyed my experience, and the golf cart of course is fun to drive. There's even a place to practice putting when you first arrive. read more

Links style heaven in Truro, Ma. You can't be serious about golf and not know about this 9 hole course if you're staying on the Cape. The course is in good shape and particularly beautiful in the last hours of daylight. It's walkable with a few short steep hills to climb. You're near the edge of spectacularly high dunes and looking at the ocean on a couple holes. Fairly easy to get a tee time September through June. read more

Giving this course a 1star because of customer service. My brother in-law and I were paired up with another group to make 4 of us. We were told to pick up the pace at hole 5 by one guy and the I was told the same thing by another guy one stroke later. Not a problem, though the regulars that we were paired with said we were playing at a reasonable rate. Again at hole 6 the same guy comes around and tells me, "It's the last time I am going to tell you to pick up the pace." I said ok. One guy in my group said, " we did pick it up." He told him, "it's not you," and then addresses me, the only person of color in the group, saying, "It's not ok, next time I am taking the golf cart keys." I am not a child to be spoken to like that and only addressing the only person of color in the group with that attitude three times doesn't look great. We weren't bothered the rest of the game, but no one should be spoken to in that tone and then threatened with a consequence, when you are a paying costumer. The group behind us were not even waiting at the tee box for us at that point, because we picked up the pace at hole 5. Won't be coming back to this course because of that terrible experience that I have never had at any other course I have played at. read more

I always boast this place and have fond memories here. Great shots of the Atlantic and you can even put one in there if you'd like, just not sure how ecofriendly that is. I even saw boobies near the lighthouse once as i was coming up to the teebox and the happy young free spirited woman pulled up her shirt when posing for her boyfriend, yea buddy! That aside, the staff was just ok and the grounds so-so but challenging and affordable as it's a 9hole muni. First time playing here. Extremely windy but the temperature was near 60F and sunny. So it offset the windy conditions. The course is in fair conditions in first day of November and after their northeaster storm from 5 days ago. We enjoy the round and the views of the Atlantic Ocean in couple of holes, and also it is located next to the cape cod light house. I don't think you will find any course with an ocean views and a light house right on the golf course. We will return when the temperature is warmer next time. read more

The golf business is in trouble, and this is a good example of why. I reserved an early morning tee time and my wife decided to come along just to walk the course with me, because the early morning views here really are spectacular. When I checked in, the pro shop manager told me that my wife would have to pay a greens fee and take a cart, the fee was for insurance purposes. I didn't think that was very reasonable but I agreed to pay the fee, although I said my wife preferred to walk and we didn't want the cart. He insisted that she would have to ride in a cart, and offered no logical explanation. When I asked why, he said the course was fully booked and he wanted to keep things moving along. I responded that I was a single and would be faster than everyone in front and behind me. Then he said it was for her own safety, people don't pay attention and can get hit by a golf ball. I asked what difference it made whether she was in a cart, I've seen people with a golf club in their hands get hit by a golf ball. He said he's seen people walking down the fairway looking at their phone and not paying any attention. Again I asked what difference it made whether she was in a cart. I was very polite and didn't raise my voice, and said that I wasn't trying to be unreasonable, we just wanted to walk and were willing to pay for it. Finally he said that it's a golf course, not a walking trail. He emphasized that several times to make the point that it was the end of the discussion. So the crux of his argument is that he essentially accused my wife of being stupid and was clearly unwelcome, so I told him I'd forfeit my round, and while I play here every year on vacation he wouldn't be seeing me again. His response was a shrug and an "ok", as though my business wasn't important. If I treated my customers that way I wouldn't be in business. This was a sexist and classist experience and typical of the image that the golf business has been clinging on to, and a good example of why the game is in trouble. The world has moved on, golf isn't doing a very good job keeping up. read more

I liked this course. It's beautiful here - coastline, ocean, lighthouse. Not too difficult a layout either which made it nice to play. Lots of tall grasses though so expect to lose a ton of balls. But I had a nice time playing 9 here. Different than what I'm used to so I enjoyed that. Guys maintaining the grass will joke with you which was funny. We had a good time - if you're in the area definitely check it out. read more

Always a great time to play this track. Very old course, Francis Ouimet himself played here. Pro tip: If your slick-after you hit your drive on 6 run down and hit a drive off the cliff into the ocean. If you get caught by the National Guard tell 'em Rick said it was ok. read more

Absolutely awesome course for the golf fanatic. I read about this course on Golf.Com in an article on links courses. This place is unpretentious but incredible in its simplicity. Here are the pluses The club house: A tiny affair with a few carts and push carts. The gentlemen that runs the snack bar is really nice and welcoming. The Course: This little nine hole course is hilly in places so walking is a challenge but worth it. The views are unbeatable with views from most of the holes looking over the Atlantic. Fairways are tight so for many holes uses either a long iron or a 3 wood. If you go into the rough you will find the ball but now you will know why those guys at the Open are miserable hacking out. In a word this course is a blast! Greens: They are in great shape but extremely slow so putting is challenging. Price: Not sure since I did not look at the charge but it was so much fun I really don't care. Weather: I played in benign weather but if the wind gets up this place would be a monster. Loved, loved, loved this course. read more

Not a place I would be likely to recommend to someone. We had three golfers in our party and rented 2 sets of clubs. We pulled up to the first hole at our tee time and was told that we needed to go back and rent a THIRD set of clubs because they were "too busy" for us to share 2 sets. I have never heard of that being a thing anywhere else i've gone. so we wasted time getting a third set and were late to our tee time. they were mad at us for being late.... the people behind us were held up due to us so we let them go ahead of us. now, my party is not excellent golfers. we got set up on the first hole and each took TWO swings to start off. we just needed a warm up. we then had a staff member come up to us and tell us we either needed to pick up our pace and spend only 10 minutes on each hole, or we had to leave and they would refund us. i was in complete shock over this, as any golfer knows it takes well over 10 minutes per hole. we then spent the rest of the 9 rushing the people in front of us (because we were told to hurry up) and could not enjoy our day of golf because at every other hole, a new staff member was waiting for us to make sure we were keeping up with the pace. save your money, there are better golf courses. read more

All my life I wanted to play golf at Highland Links and in April I finally got the chance. The staff was great the course was so cool and very different than any course I've played recently. It reminded me of the course I first learned to play Olde Newbury on the North Shore. We started slow but my 15 year old nephew and I aced the last five holes for a magnificent experience. read more

Great course for a total novice. I've taken 4 lessons so this was my first "real" course. Totally gorgeous and it had a relaxed atmosphere. Hilly and some holes with ocean view. Totally recommend and we will come back very soon. Price seems super (35$ for 9). read more

My favorite place to play on the Cape. Its like being in Scotland and if you're lucky you might see a whale from tje sixth hole. The third hole can be an eight iron or a five wood depending on the wind. The layout and location make this a gem. read more

Came here for the first time in July 2013 with my son, 7, his cousin, 9, and my dad, 81. All high handicappers. We were a bit nervous about bringing the kids to what seemed like a very difficult course. It turned out to be an unforgettable experience, even though we got rained out in the fifth hole (and got a rain check for a free round). The starter and the ranger could not have been more helpful and friendly. We didn't end up losing many balls, because although the rough is unforgiving, the balls are easy to find. The views are spectacular. The course was in good shape. It's a special place. read more

The course looked amazing, it was a shame the staff was among the most rude and unfriendly people I have come across. At the cape for a family vacation and had booked a tee time with my father. He needed to rent clubs and I went into the pro shop with my golf bag and was promptly screamed at that bags were not allowed in the shop. I get they have unique rules here but my home course lets me take my clubs anywhere and it wasn't necessary to yell at me and call me names. read more
