I've been seeing Dr Justin Green for a couple of years now. I think he's topnotch. He actually listens and asks questions to make sure we're both on the same page with things. I love the fact that during the visit he dictates his notes rather than just typing them into the computer. This give you the opportunity to make sure you understand everything. Giving a 4 rather than a 5 because the phone issue still exists. I haven't had any major problems where it's effected me recently but the wait time & process is still rather annoying. 2024-99 read more

Arrived this morning, no script was sent; called the office and was told they would do it right away. Sitting here 40 minutes and still no script. I have been going to Highgate for years, and have never had one issue. They're quick to answer calls, very quick to call back and always reply in a timely manner on the portal. They have listened to all of my concerns in the past and always willing to help. If they cannot help themselves, they've recommended me to specialists who can further. Take forever to get through to an actual person on the phone. But once you're actually in the office the doctors are nice caring and informing. Just very hard to ever talk to someone on the phone if needed everytime I've called it's taken 30 mins just to get to the nurse. read more

Excellent patient care! Wait time was minimal and the staff was very helpful and answered all my questions. They do their best to accommodate appointment requests, especially same day appointments based upon the need for one. Sometimes I have to wait a few days for an appointment but I understand it's because my need may not be urgent. It's nice to know there's availability to be seen urgently if I REALLY need to be! Consider whether YOUR need is truly urgent before you call to schedule. Someone else might be having a much worse time than you and need that appointment today rather than later. I had been a patient there for 3 years. It was an OK practice and I liked my PA. Today Oct 5 I received a letter dated Sept 23 stating they had fired me as a patient the reason was not clear. Abou 6 weeks ago I called and asked to be seen because I had a terrible pain that had lasted a week. The gave me an appointment and sent me for tests. In the meantime my mom passed away. Between the pain and my grieve I was besides myself. I had a follow up and went the week after my moms funeral. My appointment was for 10 am -- 25 minutes later I still had not seen the doctor (even though there is a sign that states if you haven been seen 15 minutes after Your appointment come up to desk) I went up and asked if I was missed because 5 other patients had gone in before me. After 40 minutes pass my appointment and two more patients who had just walked in were seen I wanted to know why I still wasn't seen When the nurse came to get me she was cold and didn't apologize for the wait or give an explanation. At this time my stress and anger got the best of me. I started to yell and she said don't yell at me. I said loudly I'm sorry I'm loud but I have been in pain for 3 weeks with no sign of relief and just buried my mom on Saturday. She walked out on me and said she didn't need this. By the time the doctor came in I was in tears. She seemed ok with me and I was very upset but not yelling. I told her I was sorry about my behavior but between the pain, the wait and my moms death I had met my limit. I went out of my way to apologize to The doctor and the nurse and explained again it was the situation not her The nurse didn't even acknowledge my apology Apparently a sick patient must be quiet and not cause a nurse to get upset because they no longer wish to see me SO BE CAREFUL Or HIGHGATE WILL FIRE YOU IF YOU SHOW ANY EMOTION AND APOLOGIZING DOesnt COUNT read more

I've been a patient for several years and have had no problems or complaints. I called prior to my appointment leaving a detailed message of my concerns. It was the first appointment of the day and then Kim would be ready for the appointment. Unfortunately, she came in not knowing why I was there. Dr. Dlugosz is the most thorough, caring Dr. I have ever been to. Each time I get blood work he sits next to me showing me the results and explains what they mean. I leave there with all of my health concerns satisfied. My grandson just started seeing him and said to me, "Dr. Dlugosz is awesome!" My Fiance was in an accident in Utah and was advised to follow up when she returned. She has a fractured nose, sternum and neck injury with extensive bruising. We were told they will not see her since its a car accident and they don't accept that kind of insurance although she had medical insurance and has been seen before. Apparently car accidents are not ongoing health concerns and one cannot even get a Dr to follow up. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. Incompetent with an attitude. I would like to reiterate what everyone here has said about the office staff. After being a patient of 20 years and being a patient of Dr. Hirsch I went away to grad school. I returned to the area and started seeing a male doctor with dark hair, Dr. Dlugosz. Next thing I know, the office staff took it upon themselves to change my doctor to some lady I had never met named Dr. Gugino. I went for the ONE appointment (I was sick and didn't have time to change it) but then next appointment questioned why this person was listed as my doctor. The office refused to let me switch back to Dr. Dlugosz. Still, only saw Dr. Stacy Gugino one time. I had planned to talk to the office manager Linda via phone to request a switch. Before I could speak to the office manager, I got this super long, poorly written and oddly emotional letter from Dr. Gugino in the mail saying she would need to dismiss me as a patient due to "lack of a relationship." Like cool I agree, who are you again? When I wanted to be reassigned to Dr. Dlugosz I couldn't be according to the office manager Linda, since Dr. Gugino was being super petty and said I couldn't be seen as a patient there. Linda was nice enough explaining it but couldn't get around the fact that from an ethical perspective they abandoned me as a patient. It's in the middle of a pandemic, my dad just passed away and I'm immunocompromised, but Dr. Stacey Gugino cares more about her ego than actually helping patients. They gave me only a 30 day supply of my life-sustaining medication which up until my call for an emergency issue today requesting an appointment they have filled for the last several months. Whatever though! They are doing me a favor. I don't want to receive healthcare from a place that tries to slam patients with strange letters after they are asking simple advocacy questions. I'll be telling everyone about my experience here too. NOT SURPRISED THEIR RATINGS EVERYWHERE ON THE INTERNET ARE IN THE TANK. Also their medical rooms are terrible. You can HEAR EVERYTHING. I have been taking care of my mother for the past two years and have been to many doctors with her. Dr. Dlugosz and his staff are by far to most unprofessional, bordering on careless, office we have been to. From thirty plus minute waits, to filling out the same forms multiple time(they keep "losing" them), to lack of follow up for blood tests, to improper monitoring of the prescriptions they prescribe, just bad healthcare. I refused a telecon with another PA that was 50 minutes late and was dismissed from the practice (after 40 years as a patient) by Dr Stacy Gugino , whom I had never met nor spoken to. These newbies really dont care about you , they only care about running numbers thru their practice$$$$$. Try another Family practice before you go here. Although the diagnostic work up I required was out of the scope of primary care and warranted an ortho referral, I was very impressed by the thorough exam I had here which seemed to be even more comprehensive than the specialist exam. I recently moved to Buffalo and was having a hard time finding a Primary Care Doctor. I got in to see the NP and I had some questions. She acted like I shouldn't be asking questions because I had been scheduled for my yearly physical. She barely gave me any feedback to the questions I asked and then didn't give me any resources. When I called asking about the appointment I was read off a long list of notes that was not shared with me. How am I suppose to know about that info if it wasn't told to me and I can't get it on the patient portal? I was told they don't put that info on the patient portal. I also had to message them asking for my lab work. They did put it up on the patient portal... but only after I asked. They also sent a message saying all my bloodwork was fine, but the lab had marked that there was something not within normal range. I had to call and ask about it. I guess this place could be ok if you like being your own doctor, want practitioners who don't really care about your health, and enjoy being treated like you lack health literacy. read more

I have been a patient for a few years although I can never see my primary care physician Dr Gugino , I see Chelsea Percy the PA . She is so nice always kind never rushes me out ! I have surgery scheduled out of town in the next few weeks and needed my medical clearance. As soon as I sat down the nurse said did you have your bloodwork done I said no I thought you do all that ? She said no and immediately said you'll have to re schedule . I said let me call my drs office and get the script faxed over so we can keep my appointment today so I called and I asked her for the fax number to quest .... she barely responded to me actually she didn't respond, she was not willing to get the fax number for me so I went to the front desk staff and asked for the number . The very helpful woman handed me a pamphlet with all the fax numbers on it ... When I got back to the room she was gone ... so I waited and she came back in and I said I can't believe you were not willing to help me , I said it was so easy the lady's at the front desk has it . I was not mean or mad I actually was nervous I didn't want to re schedule my appointment. The PA came in and I started to cry I was so shocked how she dismissed me and treated me so rudely. The PA was very apologetic and said I could have taken care of it ... meaning my script for blood work. Today I received a letter from the dr who I have never met that they won't see me anymore! After reading all the negative reviews ( lots and lots ) I understand this is how they operate . The very rude unprofessional nurse obviously lied ...Now I understand why they did this to me , I stuck up for myself and telling her she should be willing to help a patient got me dropped . Be aware of this treatment go to a Dr who actually cares about YOU and the care they provide you . You could be the next to get the letter ... I have had negative experiences with the professionals in this office a few times in the last few years. BUT, today I was seen by PA Jessica Castro as well as a beautiful and kind nurse. Let me tell you, they made me feel SO safe and heard. For years I have had consistent problems with medical professionals not only at HGM but other offices as well. Jessica was the ONLY one in so long, to actually listen to my concerns and create a game plan. The two of them have completely switched my view of highgate. Jessica if you are reading this, don't stop doing what you're doing because it was great being able to tell someone about my problems who really cared. You're awesome! read more

Excellent Care, Same Day Appointments, right in West Amherst/NT area!! They offer precheck in so that I can verify my information prior to my appointments. They have patient portal so I can send messages to my physician and their nurse when I have medical requests or questions and do not feel comfortable calling. They also have late hours 7-6 pm Monday- Thursday and Friday until 5 pm! Any even when I want to call, they are always available. I have even gotten to go to their Williamsville office on a Saturday, when I had no where else to go. Wonderful office, greater staff! read more

I was a patient with this practice for approx. 3 years, until Dr. Dlugosz kicked me out of the practice recently (unbelievable story below). All of the office people and nurses and NPs are very nice and try to be helpful. I liked my NP Lauren Lowe, who is now gone. But, they collectively have done a very VERY poor job determining, treating, and/or managing my somewhat serious issues. If you have more than simply cold, or something, not the kind of place that can help you, they are more of the "machine" of the health care system we now have in the U.S. My yearly "physical" is sort of a joke, they barely look or touch you. Not a real physical like I've had previously with other doctors my whole life. Basically I have been discovering what's wrong with me myself, and asking for tests pretty much all myself, at the detriment of my daily life, and long term (non-reversible) issues. But I stuck with them because they were "nice" unlike other offices I had been to. Fore example, They had left me with an infection that was killing me for over 8 months, and when I asked for antibiotics eventually, it was almost impossible to convince them I needed it (which I did), after 3 days of the drug, I was like a completely different person, and my leg (where infection was) looked completely different. Many things other reviewers have said are the same for my experiences. On their website, they talk about building a relationship. I had 2 doctors(which I was never allowed to see) and at least 5 nurse practitioners in that time, so much for building a relationship. Regarding Dr. Dlugosz (WORST DR. I've EVER met): The doctors of this practice (all of them) REFUSED to see me until Dr. Dlugosz asked me to come in recently (for an exam of my leg issues) (so in 2.5 years of serious issues, he couldn't be bothered to see me). I assume with Covid now they have less patients, so need the money. When I got there, he acted like he didn't know why I was there (they asked ME to come in mind you, I have high deductible insurance), and without a very long story, REFUSED to examine me. The DR. REFUSED TO EXAMINE a patient! WTF, I've never even heard of such a thing. Even with multiple requests he outright refused, said nothing wrong with me due to a "test" i had and didn't need to look. I was dumbfounded, and had to get up and leave, and he told me to and get a new Dr. The whole thing was over in probably 3 minutes. He told me I didn't actually have a problem with my Thyroid (that I have 2 tests and 2 sonograms showing I do, as well as their practice telling me I do). He told me I had anxiety, and gained a bunch of weight and that I was making up all my symptoms (though I had the symptoms when I was 100 lbs. lighter), I was over medicating myself (with prescriptions HE GAVE ME???) and that any improvements I saw were basically from "placebo" effect not the medicine. I cannot say enough "bad" things about Dr. Dlugosz due to this interaction and his 2.5 years or refusing to look at or help me. I'm a very heavy guy with a bunch of issues, and I've never, ever, been treated so poorly in my life, let alone by a doctor. And other doctors and NPs have treated me very badly over the years, that's not new, mostly due to my weight, they just can't get past it. Also their medical rooms are terrible, You can HEAR EVERYTHING, I assume that's what caused Dr. Dlugosz to get so pissy before I've even met him, as I was giving info and concerns to the nurse before he came in. This experience was so "extreme" and inappropropriate, I intend fully to speak to the NY Health Dept. and whatever and however many physicians groups I can to try to get this Dr. Dlugosz to answer to what he did to me. I seriously suggest you not waste your time with this practice, It'll be easy to find another one better. read more

I have to agree with most reviewers here and say these guys are terrible. My mother had ALS (you know, a neurodegenerative, fatal disease that left her paralyzed within one year of diagnosis) and this practice sent her all kinds of reminders for mammograms and blood tests etc in HANDWRITTEN envelopes over the years, which irked me to no end. My mother was terminally ill and they didn't take the time to LOOK at her chart before sending out meaningless appointment reminders, so excellent patient care there. THEN, after my mother passed away I found out she could get money back on a life insurance policy if a form was filled out notating her disability by her doctor. When I called highgate they told me to bring the form in. When I brought the form in they said it would take DAYS for them to fill it out and that I could come back later. I told them I was not told that on the phone and that that was unacceptable. THEN they looked at my mother's chart and said they couldn't fill it out because "well, she hasn't been here in 4 years." SHE WAS QUADRIPLEGIC AND TERMINALLY ILL with an untreatable disease and the form was to say that she was disabled 4 years prior, when she WAS a patient. Her PCP filled out her disability paperwork, not her neurologist, so that's why I went to them. I had to argue with them and ended up almost in tears in front of their entire waiting room (because hey, my mother just died so why would compassion of any kind be warranted, right?), but they did FINALLY sign the form. Bottom line? Go here if you want to be treated like a number, not a person. read more

The practionioners are great but the office staff not so much. Ive just spent the last hour on the phone calling 6 times to try and talk to a nurse and they keep putting me on hold or transferring me to the wrong place over and over again. One time I did get through to the nurses line and was just on him for 20 minutes and finally just hung up. Guess I'll pay a bunch of extra money and go to Urgent Case. Gotta love health care in America. read more
