Their range of products is pretty standard for a pharmacy, with medicines, toiletries, makeup and hair accessories predominating. As well as selling various essentials they also have a passport photo booth (these always take me back to my youth when my friends and I would try to pile as many people into a booth as possible to get some 'wacky' posed photos. What fun life was before digital/phone cameras were widespread!) and they process photos from old-school cameras in an hour. Great!

Sure there is other pharmacies around but when winter comes, it does become quite a struggle to get out. So therefore; a pharmacy was needed! It is a good pharmacy too, it takes prescriptions and you can wait for them, plus you can get flu remedies or anything else you need. I think that it works wonders for the little town.

The store is clean and tidy, with everything set out neatly on the shelves, easy to find what you are looking for. There are always great deals on the products, especially Boots No7 brand cosmetics. I love shopping in this store, they have a great reduced section too! If they don't have the item you want in stock, they are happy to order it in for you. There are some fab Xmas gift sets in this year!

This all changed on Wednesday 19th February 2014 when I approached the till operated by the assistant Ruth to pay for an item. I told this assistant that I wished to pay for the item using my Boots points and that I also had a discount voucher that I would like to redeem at the same time. She informed me that I was not allowed to use the discount voucher at the same time as redeeming points, I accepting this explanation without any problem. At this point she appeared to assume that I no longer wished to redeem my Boots points and once again she gave me the price in cash. I reiterated that I wanted to pay for the item with my points. At this, she very abruptly replied "you did not make that clear to me" repeating this more than once. I politely pointed out that I believed that I had made my intentions clear from the outset; she repeatedly insisted that I hadn't. Her attitude towards me was such that I felt that I was being admonished in the presence of other customers behind me in the queue. Not wishing to engage further in an argument with her, I paid for my purchase and left. If there was a misunderstanding between us, it certainly was not on my part and I hoped for an apology from her but instead I received a scolding. I believe I am owed an apology from Ruth as I left Boots Chemist very upset and reprimanded. I am a very alert lady in my early seventies but I was left feeling that I no longer had my dignity. The man behind the till kept humming though. And not the same tune that was playing out the speakers. It was most bizarre and unfortunately that fact alone cemented my resolve not to go back again, mostly because there's a perfectly good Boots near my work. And this one is always busy.

There makeup range No7 is excellet and so are the No7 beauty products. They often run excellent offers like BOGOF and 3 for 2. I managed to somehow get 6 cans of right guard for the price of one as they were on both BOGOF and 3 for 2 at the same time although I expect this was glich. I will certainly be popping in more often to check the special offers.

A huge Boots store in Leeds city centre, with multiple entrances through either Trinity Leeds or…read moreAlbion Street, in many ways this store reminds me of a slightly smaller version of Boots on Market Street, due to the many ways to get in and out of the store, and the store being pretty big and over multiple stores. The store really does stand out on Albion Street but for good reasons, the modern glass store and it is quite vibrant especially compared to the poorly maintained old building (possibly Grade listing), which is home to Starbucks across the way. The "Food and drink" section has a decent selection, but it is pretty weird having small drinks fridge outside of the main, signposted section, and with it being split into 4 corners (a square of fridges), the selection was typical of Boots but again wasn't as broad as other larger branches, such as Manchester Market Street. Facilities in the store did seem pretty decent, including an Opticians and Chemist. Decent Boots store overall, pretty much average to what one would expect to serve a large city, it doesn't tend to go above and beyond compared to both other branches of Boots, similar rivals and my expectations, however. 3*
