Lloyds the Pharmacy seem to be monopolising the market, with Co-op and Boots there too although Boots just generally tend to be a larger store rather than smallish high street chemist. From what I can see it is a British company and reasonably small scale focusing on small town in areas such as Yorkshire and North Wales. Nice to see a little diversity is all.

I think it was from practically doing the splits one day on the ice, which caused me to seriously pull/bruise the muscle. Anyway, having done this I now seem incapable of walking for longer than an hour without really needing to sit down! I feel like an eighty year old. So I was walking about Crossgates, and the pain began to flair up. So, I decided to nip into the pharmacy and ask for some advice. I made my way to the counter and asked the lady's opinion on painkillers. I think she noted the obvious distress and so advised me to purchase the higher strength ibuprofen, but not before sternly telling me to see a doctor *and* practically making me promise not to take one of the painkillers until I'd had something to eat! It was really really sweet, and I really appreciated it. She also advised that I could only take 3 a day, one every four hours, so there was no way I could take the incorrect dosage unless I was a total plank. As far as the pharmacy goes, they had plenty of useful medicines and products on offer, despite being a bit of a dinky store. There are seats to sit and wait for your prescription, which were looking rather tempting to me at this point, and the other staff also seemed to be friendly! I did and she waited for me and made sure I got my magazine, I was very impressed with the service I received and always think I get good service at this Boots store.

As high streets become more and more dominated by chains it can be difficult to find a truly…read moreindividual business and this is especially true of pharmacies. Naseem's is the only surviving independent in Rothwell and seems to be holding it's own against the much bigger chain pharmacy around the corner. In my opinion Naseem's is surviving because it is still a place where you can find those odd elusive items that everyone needs but no one can find, they also have a nice selection of the kinds of sweets you only ever see in a chemist shop, things like colts foot rock and imps.. Of course the big plus here is the personal and friendly service and the willingness to go that extra mile to help a customer out. I have sometimes found the counter service a little slow but that is more than made up for by the smiles.
