They simply loved walking round them, looking down at what was going on below on a warm spring day. The beauty of it was that there's lots of wall to walk round -- they cover virtually the entire circumference of the City -- and that to do so is completely free! We returned home with two happy and very tired children (after all that walking and climbing up steps) -- they slept most the way home. We'll be back!

Administered…read moreand financed by the National Trust and so the Hall, Gardens and Estate have a full calendar of events, including activities during school holidays, open-air theatre, festive celebrations, customed guided tours, roof tours, waymarked woodland trails, children's play area and quiz trails. I arrived at the hall on a really hot sunning day and enjoyed the ride down the long drive as I approached the house. There isn't much shade in the car park, so if it's hot your car will get baked. Anyway car parked and I hear the roar of an aeroplane landing. I took a tour around the house before it opened to the public. It was great to have someone tell you about the hall rather than having to read through all of the room guides. The hall inside has lots of dark furniture (as per the period) and the windows don't let in much light. But overall the house is really elegant. From the outside the house looks huge but inside you don't get to see all of the rooms as some are closed off. After the tour I took a walk to the estuary viewpoint. It was great being so close to the airport runway. Then round to the south and moat garden which are very relaxing, as people sit out and eat their lunch. The restaurant has loads of fresh produce and I enjoyed a sandwich and jam and cream scone.

It gives you the opportunity to stroll in the beautiful landscaped gardens and enjoy extensive woodland walks. There is even an adventure playground that children will adore. The Hall has a home farm restaurant which serves home-made produce too. I have not tried their food but the restaurant was busy when I walked past and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. One mysterious fact I love about the Hall, is that it is known to have a spooky past - one of the main reasons I visited there! The building did have an eerie feel about it and I will never forget that experience.

Besides the Promenade, the Pier is one of the biggest sights in town. We came on a sunny summer…read moresunday and of course it was packed with visitors. We parked the car a bit further away at the Venue Cymru carpark with lots of empty spaces. The Promenade starts/ends here and makes it also the busiest section. There are plenty of souvenir shops along the water leading to the pier. Some fair rides, a ferris wheel, shops with beach gear and gadgets, a book/CD shop, food stalls offering sweets, oysters, pies and more. There's really something for everybody. And some suprisingly good deals and food to find! The pies were really good and we also enjoyed a Kelly's Ice Cream on the pier - a bit pricey, but tasty. The pier itself was less busy than expected and an enjoyable walk with wonderful views of course. Most visitors flock around the end of the Pier with the several food options. A public toilet is located there as well. We really had a great time in town, and the pier is a busy place, but for good reason!

Sudley house on Mossley Hill Road dates back to the 19th Century and is so beautiful. I love the…read morelayout, and wish I could live there. The staircase is awesome and leads up to the top of the house and an amazing white round ceiling. The carved marble fireplace in the dining room is another amazing feature of the house. I spent a while in the costume room which is currently exhibiting Emily Tinne, and her six children between about 1910 and 1940. Check out the coat of antelope fur lined with figured brown rayon silk. The history of the house is pretty interesting. Nicholas Robinson, a rich corn merchant, bought the land for £4,500 upon which the house is now built. Bargain! The house was finished by 1824 and Nicholas was living in it until 1854. In 1883 the house was sold to George Holt who made alterations to the property including the creation of a garden veranda. Claims to fame for the house include: one of the few period homes decorated in a Victorian style that still has many of its original features. It is also the only surviving Victorian merchant art collection in Britain still hanging in its original location. The house is free to visit and well worth the effort to get there.

Works on show include paintings by Landseer and Turner to name but a few. There are contemporary videos and an introductory display to tell how members of family and household lived. Our photos taken and sent digitally to the passport office. I have been able to track the process on line. Our passports have been sent out and we will receive them today or tomorrow 7/02/2020. I would say that is very good service.

They always seem to have a smile for you and definitely know what they are doing. (Nothing worse than PO staff who don't seem to know much ...) They have a fairly good selection of stationary items and cards compared with a lot of other smaller post offices. Highly recommended. :)

The cemetry is based adjacent to the gargantuan Anglican Cathedral, which makes it appear so miniscule. However, it is not to be judged by its size, as this place makes a glorious stroll through an eerie and creepy section that is steeped in history. Whilst this destination isn't the most obvious place for tourists or locals to wander, it's sure to surprise many who visit this fascinating burial ground.

I have visited Liverpool Cathedral dozens of times over the years, but only recently took a walk…read moreround the beautiful gardens and cemetery that surround it - and was pleasantly surprised. St James Park is a moody, gothic graveyard sitting moat-like at the base of the city's gargantuan gothic cathedral. It is entered through an eerie tunnel lined with graves. It oozes atmosphere, full of moss-dappled walls, stone monuments and headstones, and creepily formed trees and plants. My other half loved this place and took dozens of photographs on the suitably wet and dreary afternoon we spent there.
