This gets a big OK from me. Not awful but nothing to rave about. I probably wouldn't return because not only did it take me 10 minutes to get my latte, but it was super sweet and hard to drink. I drank about half of it before I gave up. It did keep me warm for awhile.... Long enough to get me to the next coffee shop. read more

I was traveling through town and stopped by to get a good basic coffee. They were nice and got it fast. There were some unique wall hangings, so good ambience. I think the hours of the place looked good, even though that doesn't effect me. Good short stop for coffee, and got back on the road traveling! I read the reviews of Higher Ground online from my hotel and stopped in before I left town. So glad I did. I had a double expresso with cream and sipped on it all the way to Jackson. This is my west TN go to! One day I had this coffee shop for breakfast and dinner at two different location. Think, mom and pop Panera! Hearty offerings, sweet people, and well crafted flavors. The chicken salad spoonful option is also Genuis for those who might be gluten free or just trying to lay low on carbs. Coffee is a must have for me and Higher Ground did not disappoint. Usually we go through the drive line which always seems to have a line, no matter what time of day. It does move pretty quickly though. The inside is nice, as well, with seating and cute decor. I typically get an iced Caramel Macchiato or if it is fall time, a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Both are delicious. The Pumpkin Spice Latte had cinnamon added and gave it a slightly different flavor which was interesting. I do prefer the normal flavoring but it was still good. My reason for 4 stars was one of the first times we went there, they could not get our order right. All I asked for was a decaf iced Caramel Macchiato. Decaf because I was pregnant. When we got to the window they gave me a hot coffee that did not smell like Caramel. We told them what we asked for and then they handed us a frozen Caramel Macchiato that was not decaf. We told them a third time what we wanted and finally they got it right. They were also very rude when we didn't even have a complicated order. That experience left a bad taste in my mouth and it took me a while to go back. Since going back, I have gotten the correct order and had a good experience. Overall, I would recommended Higher Ground for that next coffee fix! read more

Great coffee. The drive thru needs its own computer system though to keep those orders separate from the dining area. You have to place your order then review your order before you pay. My assumption is that the dining in and drive thru use the same system and the workers can't determine if an order is inside or outside. read more

Stopped in while vacationing at Reelfoot. Drive through sign was hard to see for the yellowing. Employee on the drive through speaker apparently was having a hard time hearing us. I guess the cost of oat milk isn't covered in the already high price of the drink because they charge you 65 cents extra. I guess they know that if you have a milk allergy, you will just have to pay extra. When we got to the window to pay, an employee had to ask us again what we ordered so she could ring us up. Nobody was friendly in the least, we even mentioned that it was our first time there before we ordered. We were not thrilled with the service or frappes. read more

A bright star on the drive between Memphis and Western Kentucky. The the muffins are great and the coffee and espresso drinks are pretty well done. Always worth the wait! Sometimes I drive in from Memphis and stop by on the way to family just for the food and coffee! Their food is always delicious and their coffee is always excellent! Every time I go by the window I've had to double swipe my card because they never give me my whole order. They ask what you had.. you tell them the first thing the window closes in your face and they don't bother to hear what else your going to say. And sometimes that just gets annoying they need a better system or something because they act like it's a problem when I tell them I had something else they don't want to really give it to you. It's not a good place to go with a baby in the back cause they take a really long time from 20 to 30 min I've waited on coffee cause I really like mochas and iced coffee but Starbucks doesn't take near as long. I prefer Starbucks but higher ground is all union city has. If they had better customer service the wait wouldn't even matter as much but they are rude. read more

Higher Ground is a very special place. For years I have stopped in at Higher Ground every chance I get. Higher Ground is a very comfortable place, with tables strategically placed to offer privacy, a comfortable sofa with a big-screen television to watch the latest news, and tables outside to enjoy the sunny weather. Higher Ground has a great WiFi connection, so I often transform one of the tables into my temporary office when I am in town. The staff at Higher Ground is extraordinary! They are some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet, and they take good care of their customers. These are some of the things that make Higher Ground a special place, but there is more!!! The coffee at HIgher Ground is absolutely fabulous. They serve a selection of pastries, cookies, and muffins that is truly amazing. There is a wide selection of sandwiches (try the panini club, it's one of my favorites), wraps, salads, home-made soups, and more. My work requires me to travel a lot, and I've been in a lot of very nice coffee shops, but HIgher Ground is the best I've ever experienced. So, if you are ever in or near Union City, Tennessee, I recommend you visit Higher Ground. It's an experience you won't forget. read more
