My son has very course thick hair and with a failed attempt somewhere else I knew a gentleman's cut would do the trick. I had heard good things about this place and we loved the banter and atmosphere. My son is 9 and isn't a fan of having his haircut. He's great to sit still and be respectful but he'd rather be playing xbox, of course. Even a week later he was STILL telling me how much he loved his haircut. It was a little pricy for my 9 year old at $29 but understandable since I believe his hair takes just as long to cut as an adults. Going back will be a treat at that price for him but we will DEFINITELY be back. Bring cash and give yourself time to wait. This is a barber shop not your mamas house. My dad, brother, and boyfriend go there to get their hair cut. My dad never has anything bad to say and is always happy with his haircut. He also thinks the price is good considering you're getting a good cut (at least for him and my brother). If you want a cheaper cut, you can go to Sports Clips, where they will probably butcher your hair... as for the cash policy it's not that big a deal unless it's your first time going there and you didn't know. He says the atmosphere is manly and friendly, as well as multiracial (someone else in the reviews mentioned that they were one of the very, very few barbers here to know a white mans hair) which makes it a rare gem :) read more

I asked for a high razor fade. The guy gave me a low fade. Absolutely one of the worst haircuts I have ever gotten. When I asked him to take the sides higher he said "I start it lower so I can fade it". I have gotten high fades for the past 10 years and have never had an issue. Visited High Point Barber Shop tonight after I missed my usual place. I came in at about 5:10pm and they closed at 6. There were three people ahead of me and two people in the chairs so I expected to be there awhile. Pleasantly to my surprise, it didn't take as long and I was under the shears by 5:45pm. The conversations on going were cool and they kept it pretty lively. But you didn't come here for my review of the waiting area right!? ON TO THE HAIRCUT! Like any other true barber, certain things are expected: attention to detail and a hot shave on the back of my neck. On both accounts and more, High Point Barber Shop did not disappoint! In fact, my barber Rob, did an awesome job. We discussed big band music and upcoming shows all while meticulous attention to detail was given. They charge $22 for a haircut and it's well worth it. I explained what I wanted and he didn't ask any strange questions or give me a look like, "Are you serious!?" He was all about service. The haircut turned out great and afterwards I had questions about how to maintain the style he gave me and he was more than willing to help. Overall, I was very impressed! This is a great shop with incredible staff. They're kind, attentive, and I'd say their jokes are funny at least nine out of ten times. The music is eclectic and I always end up hearing something that I haven't heard in years or walk out looking up new bands to check out. This is not SportsClips. They don't take cards and they close to go to lunch like real people do. They also take their time to make you look your best. Not a local, but tried this place out today and will be my go to while in town. For me, not sure I could get much more of a perfect haircut. Every barber greeted me, laid back atmosphere, and has the old school barber vibe (their chairs are legitimately from the 1940's, it's great). This is a place you can go to and not worry if your hair is going to get hacked up or not. I'm very particular about barbershops and this place met and exceeded expectations. Not sure about any of these positive reviews. Maybe I just got lousy treatment I got the worst haircut and customer service of any salon/barber I've ever went to. I went in here and wanted to get my haircut. I explained to the male barber that I wanted a high fade. He seemed like he wasn't sure about it entirely but I trusted him. After directing him as to what a high fade was multiple times I said I wanted the other, more competent woman to cut my hair. He glowered at me and said in a confrontational tone: "if you wanted a free haircut, you should have just said so" So I was offended and getting a bad haircut simultaneously. This is the best barber shop around. Terry runs the place. It's an old feel with antique barber chairs and baseball memorabilia everywhere. They give the royal treatment- hot towels on the face, wet strait razor shave and haircuts! I get the whole package and it's just $35. It's a wonderful experience that any man would enjoy. A real barbershop is really hard to find these days. That's why when I stumble in to this place, I knew that this is it. A good ole fashion barber shop. Nothing fancy like Sports Clips or Fantastic Sam's, the barbers here do actually know how to cut hair. Especially Terry, the owner, he is an expert on cutting flat tops. He cuts it high and tight. Conversation for the duration of my stay which was surprisingly short. (It only took 30min for a haircut, beard trim, and a shave.) I can honestly say that it's the wisest use of $35 I've ever made. Outstanding. Probably the best barber I've been to. This was my first time there and Terry did the perfect fade from a 1 all the way up the sides. Terry is a professional and overall kind man. This is the old fashioned barbershop you've been looking for. It's in a safe neighborhood with great parking and I only had to wait about 10 min. With the current rockabilly movement and the classic haircuts starting to be brought back, I myself for many months have been trying to find a barber shop that could deliver such a haircut. I have been to Sportclips and other barber shops and no one has been able to deliver a medium fade. Often times I walked away with a hight and tight and feeling bad for the $20 I had just spent. I found out about high point barber shop and thought, "what the heck?" I've already tried all other possibilities. It couldn't be much worse. From the moment I entered the door I knew I was in the right place. The shop had an old school vibe. There were two guys cutting hair, Rob and Terry. I waited maybe 5-10 minutes and was in the chair. I told Terry what I wanted and he went to work like a master artist. The conversation was lively. Terry cut my hair to perfection and I have never been happier with a haircut. If you're looking for a pompadour or a rockabilly haircut, or maybe just a haircut reminiscent of Adam-12, this is the place to go! read more

We went here because it had quite a few good reviews. My husband and I are en route from New York to Texas, he is in the army and we had three days to move everything down here. Anyway, we stopped in Memphis overnight and he needed a hair cut before we got to the new base. The women cutting his hair butchered it. He had a nice style going with it short on the sides (military required) and a little longer on the top. He explained the hair style he wants and said what he says to every barber ever and she acted like she could do it. Anyway, he came out with NO HAIR. Also there is some weird rounded pattern around his ears and he is EXTREMELY upset. Not to mention AFTER the hair cut she informs him it is cash only and she doesn't know where an ATM is. We are from NY and now searching around this town for an ATM. Plus since she cut it so uneven it is now not regulation and we have to find somewhere else so he doesn't get in trouble when we get to base. Don't go here. read more
