Completely redefines the term Drag Race. The low 40's, the wind-chill, it didn't matter. Everyone was packed in along the sidewalks, cheering on their favorites (props for Team Britney). The whole thing really makes you a little homesick (for San Francisco). Partying afterward at Cobalt was a blast too. I'll post pictures from the bar when those nice "men" in uniform e-mail them to us later today. Wild. Just like Direct to Consumer Advertised Drugs and "those who are pregnant or may become pregnant", not really recommended for those who are both straight and faint-of-heart.

This is by far the BEST celebration in the District of Columbia - hands down. It attracts the young the old the political the carefree the girls the guys the gays and the straight - all faces that make up the DMV.The crowd becomes one big happy family and I have thoroughly enjoyed this event year after year for quite some time. The race starts at 9 and is over before you can recite the alphabet LOL but it is the absolute best time ever. The best part of the race is the pre-gaming. You show up way before the sunset 5 - 7pm and select your spot to enjoy the sites - most gather around JRs. So from 7pm - 8:59 you are literally just enjoying the atmosphere, the people, the conversations, the energy and the queens as they stroll up and down 17th. The volunteers and police do a great job at keeping this race issue free. Its been one of the safest gathering of people for years. The race organizers will yell at you about staying behind "the line" but all in all its to ensure the safety of the racers once the race starts. Before and After the race the ladies are more than willing to photo with you. The trick is navigating through the crowds. Even though the race is at 9 I recommend to any newbie reading this that you arrive around 7 to take photos, secure a spot and take it all in. You're in for an awesome time! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS EVENT!

RuPaul, eat your heart out. Who says DC is stodgy and uptight? http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=MowgkrZB_wvC5GimuXiF6w&select=qRsF0RDjt8oR6o0-C-4s4g Make sure to get there early for this crazy DC tradition - the Tuesday before Halloween means 17th St NW between P and S gets shut down for the night. Race begins at 9pm but the streets are uber packed by 7 (like inauguration 2008 packed...) The local restaurants will be swamped, but you should be able to get a spot in Trio if you get up there by 530/6ish. If you have a friend who lives on 17th St with a balcony, this is the time to get them a nice gift and convince them to have a party. (eg. balcony http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=MowgkrZB_wvC5GimuXiF6w&select=77MBYmxYHJD85m3MS6kpRw) Also, many participants treat this much more like a parade/beauty pageant than a race and have some pretty awesome float-like costumes, so bring your camera. Everyone's friendly, but do expect the crowd to move like molasses/crush you to death and for it to be impossible to find anyone (unless one of you is over 6'4"). So get excited Washingtonians. The drag race is coming! The drag race is coming!

I went for the first time this year after seeing it on the news for years. It's an event for all to see. As I walked up from the metro I could see "Queens" getting ready. It's almost like a bonding ritual I wished I could be apart of the performances but I'd have to drag as a king (blah!) Go early like 4 hours early to get the best outside seats at any bar on P and 17th Street. I never found this Church street! as I walked up and down. hmmm You will sing show tunes, see Lady Gaga play fight in the glory of the flashing lights of the on lookers. Don't want to be photographed, stand back!!!!!!!O yeah you can be brave enough to step into the street but it's a queens world baby! Don't do anything you'll regret cause it's going slam on YOUTUBE... with in hours..seconds of you doing it. Traditionally: Spectators come wearing halloween costumes and stand in the streets, have drinks, joy and laughs, take pictures and unwind. FYI: In the past it's been an adult outing. This year some kids dressed and walked in the parade ( with snow white). Glitter, Snickers and bubbles O MY! all thrown at me and I loved it but the snickers knocked me to the ground! Ladies will be amazed at the attire and some will even be bold enough to ask for a Queens dress, heel and go get a sound of drinks after the race.

Georgetown Glow is free public art with elements to captivate all ages & demographics. It can be…read morepaired with some history or can be enjoyed to captivate your Instagram followers. It is currently in it's fifth year, running from early December to early January. It looks like the installations change every year so there is something new to explore and enjoy. I won't go through every installation that I saw for this reason. There are some really instagramable moments, my favorite in 2018 was definitely Prismatic, but I have a big soft spot for Run Beyond as well. You should definitely plan to get out and explore a lot of the installations, just walking or driving by won't give you the full effect of some of them. Some of them also can't be seen from your vehicle, bundle up and explore! There are also a few that incorporate motion & sound. Here is the biggest "well duh" moment- see these installations after dark. Not during sunset, not at dusk- make sure it is really dark for the full effect. I mean- they are light installations, so maybe that shouldn't even be mentioned. I opted to see Georgetown Glow as part of a tour group (Free Tours by Foot DC) and our tour started almost an hour before sunset so I made a point to revisit the installations we saw early on during the tour- it was definitely worth the trip back to see the earlier installations. I thought taking the walking tour was a great way to see some of the installations and learn more about the history of Georgetown. Our tour guide was excellent, but was definitely a better Georgetown guide vs a Glow guide. She had great historical stories to connect to the themes of the art installations as we walked through Georgetown. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see all of the artwork during this foot tour, but we had plenty of time to explore the ones we did encounter on our tour. I would recommend doing Georgetown Glow both ways, take a tour if that's your thing, but really for the art itself I think you can easily enjoy every installation without the tour aspect and just read the information provided on the website to learn more. It is an outdoor, free, public display so expect that a few of the installations may have technical difficulties. I visited on the second night of the displays and noticed some light vandalism, most likely caused by careless spectators. It didn't take away from the overall effect though. One thing I appreciated is even though this is a December outdoor light exhibit, it wasn't Christmas themed. There is definitely plenty of holiday cheer to enjoy as you explore the city between installations. The art itself focuses on different themes giving you a brief mental break from the holidays.

I've been going to GLOW since the first edition and I just love it! I like some installations…read morebetter than others but it's a great idea and it's nice seeing people walking around at night in the Winter! It would be nice to have shuttle tours for people who can't walk as much. Maybe the Circulator used to do free rides? I can't remember. DC has so many free events and exhibits and GLOW is one of the best.

Additionally, it offers a great view of Rosslyn, Georgetown, and the Potomac. It is one of those experiences in the city that takes you away while still being present. A couple of downsides to this area is that it can be a bit sketchy and you're best to watch your back when you come up here. On the flip side, they're there for the same purpose that you are - to chill. You leave them alone and you will be left alone. It is easy to access for the most part. Just take the stairs up from the parking below by the kayaks and you'll find yourself on the C & O Trail. Wear good shoes. You will be better off than wearing sandals.

I didn't even know the Graffiti Cliffs of Georgetown even existed (even) until my most recent visit, which is weird because I know everything, lol, and I used to live around here. But it's a must visit. I love it. The views are amazing and the graffiti on all of the cliffs and things around here is awesome. The sometimes strict local police let everything go here, so it's basically just a free artistic place. It's sort of like a tolerance zone for prostitution, but instead, it's art. Although Barbi and I consider some forms of prostitution to be art, too, especially when we do it. So Graffiti. Not as much fun as prostitution but it might be better to look at depending on who the client is. I mean artist. However, I learned that just a few weeks after I visited here, they closed it off. Not even for Coronavirus, but before Corona. Hopefully it'll be opened up again as soon as Coronavirus is over. It better be.
