Before each interview, they sent me a very thorough prep-sheet. They spent a lot of time on the phone with me getting to know my preferences and career goals. They made contact with me before and after every interview to provide guidance and process the experience. I know they are super busy, but it felt like I was their only client. Also, there was a sense of fun about working with them! I'd utilized three other recruiting agencies before I found them and I'd come to expect poor service and constant checking in to remind them to work for you. My experience at The Chicago Hire Company was completely different. They are excellent and I can't recommend them enough!

Stef understands how the dating game is played!…read more In today's day and age I am tired of having to play games and not understand why I am not getting call backs. Stef is great at getting not only attractive, non-crazy, reliable, educated people in her service, but she also can get you feedback that is invaluable. She does care and does not want to take on people that have unrealistic demands, nor people that are not going to be seriously looking for a relationship. Comparing her to some of the other services out there, she is reasonably priced and doesn't promise what she can't provide. I'd recommend you contact her because you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

So through a friend, I made an appointment with Stef who was kind of blunt, direct and to the point and she told me a bunch of things I needed to do and I followed them. Using the info about myself that I gave her I was able to find more ways to navigate the dating jungle especially where I had been going online and what I had been posting myself on online dating sites. Unlike other people she offers consultations in this area like how to post on your dating app in order to meet someone compatible and not just because they look good or whatever metrics I was using that was not working . Since she showed me which pictures I should use online, what apps and dating sites are the ones that would be best for me, I think that was pretty unique and that is why I dated someone for a long time about 2 years ago. I feel that she honestly cared about having you meet someone.

I haven't signed into Yelp for a few years. Today I noticed a had a review I wrote in 2013 but…read morenever hit the "post review button." Better late than never: I held off on writing a review of Matchmakers of Chicago (MOC, also known as Elan Dating Services and Sterling Register) because I was so angry about what I feel is a scam and I felt I could only write a review full of emotion instead of one grounded in the facts of what happened. So, I've taken two years to cool down and wait for them to come through with an apology and a refund. I've waited and received neither. And lest you think I've forgotten details of what happened I'm writing this review with the email and print correspondence, written contract and notes taken from phone calls with them during the time I used their services. They put on a charming in person presentation about how much care they put into choosing the people they matched their clients with. When I asked how these men were selected they alluded to lists of eligible bachelors who used to pay for this service or are currently paying for this service. I paid over $1,000 of my hard earned money (which was never refunded). Here are the snippets from emails I sent in after my two problematic dates: ------------------------------------ Feedback I emailed MOC after date #1 on 5-27-11 "--MY DATE-- was 15 minutes late but was nice, polite and good looking. However, this cannot count as one of my matches because they are supposed to be based on my criteria. He was in the seminary for over 10 years and is now a VERY Catholic man: no sex unless it's in marriage and for the purpose of having a baby, anti-gay, etc. There is no way humanly possible that anyone who had even glanced at my file might think that could be an acceptable match. Its a clear fundamental difference in lifestyle and values. I told --MOC EMPLOYEE 1-- outright during our interview that I had just split from an evangelical Christian due to religious difference among other things. This should not be news to her or the rest of the team. Please forward this to --MOC EMPLOYEE 1 & 2--. Also, is my 2nd date still on for next Wednesday? And is it possible to make sure he's not a bible banging Catholic? Or any of the other deal breakers written on my intake form?" ------------------------------------ Feedback I emailed MOC after date #2 on 6-1-11 "My date didn't know that I was matched with him through a professional, high end matchmaking service. He was under the impression I was there like him, for a "free date to meet someone else in the database who had gone a mixer at some point over the years." He also said, with surprise and concern, "why would they pair you up with a free-loader like me and not someone else looking for a love match?" ------------------------------------ MOC sent me the phone numbers of two of their current female clients for me to call and ask about their experiences. I called one of the women only after I began to have problems with the service. She told me of similar experiences and the low caliber of the men she was matched with. I feel gullible for believing their pitch and dumb for not having called one of the other female clients earlier. I should have more aggressively pursued getting a refund. Don't make the same mistakes I made.

Chicago First Dates has exceeded my expectations with venue choices, and quality of guys that show…read moreup. I am now dating a really great man thanks to this company! I'm an accountant by trade and consider myself fairly picky along with being a harsh critic. It was hard for me to jump back into dating after raising my daughter. It was hard not to be skeptical when considering the speed dating options... and I was for sure not going to attempt online dating. The customer service here has been nothing short of exceptional answering all questions, and standing behind their product (Thanks Jon!!) For those that like to meet face to face, but are careful to not give out personal information, this is a great option. I've been to Aloft, Neat, and Coach House for a speed dating event held by Chicago First Dates. There are usually 8 to 12 guys that show up. The girls sit, and the guys move from table to table. The majority of the men have had great qualities and were just looking for someone to meet. The company doesn't do any sort of background check, but the cost seems to keep a good quality control. I would go to an event with questions that were general, but would tell me enough about a person. By the end of 5 minutes it's usually not too hard to tell if there is a spark, and interest in moving forward to a date. Of all the events I went on, there were few that I chose to "match" and go on a date. This had more to do with me being selective and not the caliber of guys that showed up. If I could give any advice it would be to not be afraid of going to an event even if it's a bit far away. People travel from all over for example... the Schaumburg event had people from Lombard, Downers Grove, Chicago, Schaumburg, and other cities. Sometimes it is hard to hear, so I'd pull the chair a little closer to me before the event started (sitting next to the guy instead of across the table). Lastly, know if you are just looking to "date" or head into a more serious relationship. I have found all of the guys to be straight forward with what they were looking for, and very honest. Either way it's a really fun night whether you meet that special someone, or decide to go to the next speed dating event. The time goes quick, and the conversations are really fun!! Chicago First Dates is worth giving a try!!!

On top of it they will cancel your event a few hours before it is scheduled. So after 4 canceled events. I finally asked for a refund. I had canceled so many plans to make their event for them to cancel last minute. When I asked for a refund they said the I didn't tell them in time and needed to let them know 5 days before the event to cancel. But on the last email they sent out for the event it said please email confirm you are going. I never emailed them and they just decided to put me on the list. So just checking my email and I see I am on the list for event I didn't sign up for seems super sketchy. So I email back saying I can't make it and asked for a refund. To get a response back the best we can do is give you a free code for another event. These events rarely happen if ever... I just wanted a refund which I rightfully deserved after that whole experience. Please if you are looking for love go to an actual speed dating company not this scam. Also yes I created an account just for this because it was such an awful experience...

Per contract they must be suitable compatible matches... one must have been a ghost, as I can't remember ever meeting the last one she claims. One was over zoom and the call kept freezing along with our moronic faces each time the connection failed. One guy was unrecognizable, the complete opposite of its photo and profile description. Significantly shorter skinny and older. another "match" was with someone who within the first minutes said he doesn't want to date single mother with kids, like myself. Two other matches i agree were a good shot. Upon research, turns out this company is owned by an attorney Who drafted a perfect iron clad contract completely biased to protect the company against any complaints... matchmakers in this industry are known to make about $100 per match, not per hour as google seems to describe, the faster and more they match, the better. although NY seems to have a law that protects matchmaking agency clients who feel frauded myself, sadly I'm not in NY. The matchmaking business is turning into a fast way to make big bucks at the cost of trusting clients. Matchmaking companies claim to have thousands of people on their database which is basically anyone under the sun who has a heartbeat. of course some people get matched upon some quick coincidental effortless matching, yet, no real effort seems to be done in most of these companies and "professionals". No outreach, very little colaboration between agencies as LUma and others prefer to keep all their money to match "in house". the best part, they can claim anything they want as it is impossible to prove if they are right, or wrong. What can I say.... Was a disaster and a waste of money. Congratulations to Luma'a owners and staff... for having a perfectly legal business that can doop customers and have no liability or proof that was actually done.

One hour prior to that date, I got a call from the after hours line hat he needed to cancel, was out of town and wouldn't make it back in time. But there's more here. The after hours person said traffic, the next day they said he was sick. Which is it? Okay. I give people second chances. Our second date, I had to cancel due to a work emergency but gave a 4 hour notice. Rescheduled. Last Friday. I checked in at a very crowded restaurant, was told he wasn't there but to wait a moment and they would seat me. Within 5 minutes, the hostess came over and let me know my date was late, stuck in traffic. I waited 25 minutes, getting increasingly angry. I left at 7:55pm. I did not call the after hours number. However, I did receive a call from them at 8:05pm, saying Michael was at the restaurant and disappointed I didn't wait, would I consider going back? Not only no, but HELL NO! I heard from Its Just Lunch on Monday, asking me how my date went - hello? Do you people communicate? And now I heard from them again, today. The excuse changed from he was caught in traffic to he had to take his son to the emergency room. Apparently, they only have this one date for me and can't keep their lies straight. While the hosts and team were respectful and professional, the quality was disappointing: profile introductions stopped entirely after the first few months, with none sent in the final year, and the events were poorly organized by themes (e.g., South/North Indian, veg/non-veg, citizenship, or previously married) rather than age groups, leading to wide age mismatches, few young women in their 20s, and some rude interactions with older attendees. Overall, it provided little value for men in their 20s seeking age-appropriate matches, feeling like a waste of money with no viable connections--I cannot recommend it to young Desi men in the USA, as the pleasant team does not offset the poor execution and results.
