I move out of the rental managed by high desert. I am 56 single living a lone no pets. I had filled out the tenant report when I moved In. The wall were not clean and did not have fresh paint. There were shelves in the garage. I'm a salesman and was gone half the time. Never even showered in the second bathroom. I also did not put one hole in the wall for pictures. I lived very basic while I was there. They keep telling me they will call back and have not. I keep telling them to refer to the tenant notes everyone signed. They still kept a good portion of my deposit. Billed me a garbage run for the shelves that were in the garage when I moved in. On move out I had a cleaner help me make sure the place was dialed when I moved. I also have a photo journal when I moved in. I guess I will have to seek legal advice. It's pretty frustrating. I am also a home owner in another state I was leasing this place to have a place to go when I was in Oregon. read more

Unprofessional and greedy! The property falls apart and they charge the tenant, extra costs, wait times, and dangerous situations. They have no flexibility , no compassion for things that ARE NOT the tenants fault but the actual builders mistakes then try to charge the tenant. Greedy greedy greedy and especially in this time when people have lost jobs due to the virus. They should be ashamed of how they are treating the tenants!!! Show some compassion, help your tenants! We have used HDPM for 6 plus years as a property owner. When speaking with the tenants, no one had anything bad to say, quite the opposite. I check now and then with the tenants, and they are quite happy with HDPM. They look after both sides making sure both parties abide to the contract and rules. It's strange that they only have either 5 star or 1 star reviews! Matt and company make sure that the tenants are Not living in a slum home and make sure that the property is taken care of. IF you read between the lines, you can see that the 1 star reviews are from tenants that think the rental are a motel and there are maids and ground keepers that come with it. if you are looking for a fair and friendly company to either rent from or handle your property, HDPM should be your choice. read more

I used to like Matt and Penny, until my son was discriminated against and were left with no heat for over a week during 20 degree temperatures. My son is autistic and had a very hard time potty training. He tended to wet himself in his room and pee in inappropriate places, on his bedroom carpet. I fully disclosed to HD PM that my son was the one who peed on the carpet. They said I was lying and had a pet. I had no pets. I let them know further about my sons issues. After moving out they lied and charged me a pet cleaning fee and carpet replacement fee for the entire home! The entire home! My son did not pee on every square inch of the carpet like they stated. I was charged over $3000. Not a cost I could afford. Also, during the winter of 2019. My furnace went out. My family was left for 9 days without heat. It was 20 degrees all that week. All five of us had to sleep in one room with a space heater. It was very messed up that they took their sweet time. Do not rent from them. They lie and steal. Not compassionate at all. My husband and I rented a home through High Desert for just shy of 3 years. We had a wonderful experience with them. Yes the house was flawed (like most rentals are) however that isn't any fault of HDPM. Any time we had an issue they were right on top of it. Each inspection was handled with great professionalism, each question we had was answered in a timely manner. Honestly, it has been the best experience we have had as renters. Absolutely fantastic company. Made contact a week ago, signed and received keys today. Great management team, professional and prompt. The firm allowed us to review the lease contract and make an offer the following day, which was accepted! It's great to deal with local people that work hard to meet the needs of owners and renters without cutting corners. I used this company to secure a rental in Redmond when I moved across the country in 2009. I am one of those people who NEVER sign my name to a legal contract until I have read the entire body of it. And they said that was ok, but became annoyed (loud repeated sighs after glancing my way) when I was sitting there for 45 minutes in the lobby area doing just that. I pretended not to notice by simply ignoring it. And she waited. But the worst thing is that they stole my cleaning deposit of $250. I video taped the entire unit before and after my 6 month stay, and it was left in better shape than when I moved in. Their previous cleaning staff hadn't even bothered to clean the appliances, cupboards, or drawer faces. Indeed, when I moved out, I had several friends help me over 2 days to clean every last surface, whether it was already clean or not. We're talking a 900 square foot apartment, so it wasn't much of a job, but I wanted that cleaning deposit back. Only a couple months later did I realize that I was never credited my cleaning fee and I was told that the $250 was used to clean the apartment. Yes, the immaculately already-cleaned apartment. Unfortunately, I didn't have the video any longer and was short on time to research the process to them to small claims court on it. I see another reviewer here did just that. HDPM took over my lease from the owners of the property. Upon move out I was held to their standards of inspection. Those standards didn't exist when I moved in. Even though I left the property in better shape then when I moved in, I lost a large portion of my deposit. Also, when I refused entry for an inspection because of not receiving a 24 hour notice due to their bad record keeping I ended up arguing with Matt about it. They say you can refuse entry if notice isn't received in time but they won't like it. However, when it comes to repairs they are quick about it (that gets them one star instead of none). I've never missed or been late with the rent either. read more

I have rented from this company for a few years. I have been extremely satisfied with the customer service from all the staff and especially the owners. I am reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau. The entire 2.5 years I've lived next to their really bad tenants they do nothing when their tenants are loud, threaten me or even harassing. I have to call the city once a week about their tenants. I have over 20 complaints in to the city and Matt does nothing about his tenants. Nor does he return calls or emails regularly. Don't not rent your property through this company, they could care less about you or your neighbors. I would discourage anyone from buying a home next to one of these properties too. Worst neighbors I've ever had in 50 years. As you can see with the multiple poor reviews and others mentioning lack of communication, I'm not alone with my complaints. read more

I rented a single bedroom unit from High Desert for the past 8 months and was extremely pleased with both the apartment and High Desert Property Management. I only had one minor maintenance item and they responded immediately. The unit was clean when I took possession and it was amazingly quiet. This surprised me as I have had several temporary apartments where you could easily hear the neighboring units. I never heard anything the whole time I lived here despite having adjoining units on both sides. I hope to be back in the Redmond area in the next couple of years and will definitely contact High Desert upon my return. read more

This is the worst property management companies in the area. They are both horrible to the renters and also the landlords. My landlord changed companies and went with these hooligans. Turns out he wasn't able to get the property rented until 2 months after we moved out. Also I made sure to leave the property spotless (per the checklist) and missed 3-5 spots (light fixtures weren't spotless according to the company) so they screwed us over. My 15+h of cleaning went out the door. They hired a supposedly ethical cleaner who took 4h to clean the areas that I had missed. Really?! nearly $100 out of our personal pockets so that the cleaner could spend their time on social media kicking back while the time tolled on our hard earned money/backs. Only a select few items (light fixtures) had minimal dust and here we got charged nearly $100 for this cleaning service to spend 4h on our property. High Dessert Property Management is unethical, packed full of hooligans from the inside out, and is poorly managed thus screwing over both the renters and the owners. To top it all off they weren't willing to accept our key drop off as being on time because that's just how disgusting this company is and made us contact the owner directly to see if our extra fee would be waived. The owner knew us and he was totally okay with waiving the fee and was questioning why we got charged for it in the first place after hearing our situation. Needless to say this company is disgusting to both the owners and renters. Run away from this company! read more

After talking on the phone with Vanessa, we felt very confident in our decision to go with this property instead. We have had nothing but wonderful experiences with them! worst property management company in central Oregon!!! stay away unless you are in dire need even then try to avoid. they are rude disrespectful and do nothing to accommodate any need. we have rented from them for several years and they have never fixed any issues with any house we rented through them. it took them 2 months to get a plummer to us!! if you do have to rent through them sign a lease otherwise they will raise the rent every few months until you get fed up and leave. which is their MO they try and get you to leave. read more
