Josh who provided the initial estimate made good recommendation regarding paint sheen for the different surface types, and asked several questions about things I had not even thought of such as front and back colors for doors.. While we were only using three colors, due to the different sheens for concrete walls, wallboard, and door trim, we ended up with 7 different paints. Scheduling was easy and they helped accommodate our availability. When the painters came in to do the work they were friendly, knowledgeable and took the time to understand which paints were to be used where. They did an excellent job; multiple coats of paint for rooms that went from dark gray to a neutral taupe and caulked the floorboards where necessary and filled in scrapes and picture holes where we needed it. The job took a couple days longer than expected but such is life when you're working with a lot of sq ft and simultaneously just had the floors refinished. The team was *incredibly thorough* with protecting the floors, walls, and other areas that weren't being painted. All of their prep work was top notch. The trim and baseboards came out gorgeous. And the rooms we had painted look incredible. It was a little more expensive than a couple other quotes, but I am very happy and feel like it was money well spent for very professional work. At 8:00 AM on September 21, 2020, a Golden Painting work crew began removing paint chips from my…read morehouse to prepare it for exterior painting. The three person crew quit work at 10:45 AM. When the work crew returned the next day, I showed the owner of Golden Painting, Tony Moss, a couple areas on the house that needed considerably more prep work. Mr. Moss said they were planning to do more scraping, which made me wonder why they stopped working at 10:45 AM the day before. Then, I heard Mr. Moss telling his work crew foreman about shortcuts that could be taken to save time on the job. At that point, I lost confidence in the quality of job Golden Painting would do, so I told Mr. Moss to stop work and that I would pay him for the work that had already been done. Mr. Moss billed me at a rate of $60/hour for each of his three laborers, though the average hourly pay for a construction laborer in the Denver area was $17.96, and $19.48 for painters. Rounding up to three hours of work and $20 for painters, in total, Mr. Moss charged me $340 dollars more than is the average charge. Before Mr. Moss left my house, I pointed out that someone on his work crew had been overly aggressive while scraping and had put gouges in one of my wooden garage door jambs. I asked Mr. Moss to either repair the damage or pay for replacing the jamb (wooden post). Mr. Moss refused to pay for repairing the damage until I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The lowest rating that Yelp allows is one star. Though I cannot recommend Golden Painting, I am sure there are other painting companies doing business that would be worst then Golden Painting; therefore, I gave Golden Painting a two star rating.
