It seems the place to be for the people with a bob or two to pend, and it has a spa type leisure complex offering up to date lavish treatment that cost a pretty penny. While the accommodation can sometimes be a little on the small side, the rooms are clean and quite well appointed. The restaurant is very good, with a high standard. The staff were attentive and polite and we found the restaurant manager to be particularly attentive to our needs. In contrast, the hotel staff can be a little hit-and-miss, although never rude. Breakfast at weekends is a rather chaotic affair, with seating arrangements particularly difficult. Food ran out quite quickly and wasn't replaced fast enough, so a lot of time was spent queuing. Toast and coffee were not coordinated with the food and often arrived after the breakfast meal had been consumed. Dinner (3 courses with wine) is about £45-£50 pp, depending on your choices, but it is of a high standard. The room-rate ranges upward from about £100 per night. The hotel offers a pool and fitness facilities and, of course, there is ample scope to go walking around the beatiful countryside. A great place for a relaxing, quiet weekend with good food.

Premier Travel Inns offer a predictably good experience that is a step above what you'd get in a Travelodge. The Boston branch is situated on the edge of Boston, so you do really need a car to get here. We did think that it might be possible to walk into the town centre, but the dark and rain put us off so we drove, and were thankful that we did - it would have been quite a trek on foot. Check in was easy. Our room was larger than we expected and was tastefully decorated. The bathroom was spotlessly clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable - and difficult to get out of in the morning! It was also quiet. Opposite the hotel is a chain pub (we didn't eat there, having read mixed reviews on other sites) and I guess that there could be a bit of noise around closing time, but we weren't disturbed by it, and we stayed on a Saturday night. We paid £52 for our room, which is great value. If you're looking for somewhere clean and comfortable, you have a car and you're not after luxury, then this is pretty much as good as it gets.

This place though, was much better than I imagined it might be. Its a reasonably small family run establishment with a few bedrooms (I think I was the only guest at the time) located, as the name suggests, by the side of the towns small railway station. The rooms were comfortable and adequate, the breakfasts were fantastic - and they even accomodated me getting up at a stupid time of morning and having an early breakfast for work purposes. The bar area takes up most of the floorspace, and while the locals are a little insular at the best of times, it was reasonably friendly, and service was always with a smile. The price for a five night stay was particularly reasonable, and I;d certainly go back again if I was in the area.

I was even given a early morning knock as I had forgotten my alarm clock. You would have to be the type of person that wants to be disappointed to find any faults with the room or its facilities. They also have a room with a bar and a large screen TV. Breakfast, well.all that I can assume is that Mr Mears must be a former lorry driver (said in the nicest way) as it was plentiful and delicious. Cereals, FULL English, with all the usual suspects bacon, sausage. hash browns, tomatoes etc etc. toast and jams the lot. Fruit juice, tea or coffee and it appeared to me as though you could drink as much as you wanted and eat toast till it came out of your ears. All in all the B & B is the tops. I have to say at £50 for a double room, this is fantastic value and the host and hostess are really very nice a nothing too much trouble. We kept Mrs Mears up until 0140hrs!! and it was not a problem.

My 'Assiette of Spring' was a celebration of the season with purple sprouting, asparagus, morels, wild garlic and a slow cooked hen's egg combining into a wonderful visual and sensory delight. This standard was more than followed in the following courses of locally reared Veal (with sweetbread raviolo & more morel mushrooms) and a white/dark chocolate pave. Second, the wine was superb. The sommelier managed to find the perfect match for my relatively light veal dish, and my companion's richer duck and venison mains which was so delicious that I have already looked up where I can buy some more locally. Third, a member of staff went far above the call of duty by driving us the ten minute drive home when we were left stranded in Hambleton with no taxi available for more than 1 1/2 hours. This kind of commitment deserves to be shouted from every corner and I duly intend to do just that!
