I had just recently moved to Sebring, Florida, and had fallen in love with riding my electric…read morescooter around beautiful Lake Jackson on a daily basis. I'm a very courteous rider, and whenever someone was walking toward me on the sidewalk, I would simply move into the street, let them pass, and then ease back into a driveway since there is no bike path along Lakeview Drive.
On one of those driveway transitions, I encountered an unexpected two-inch saw-cut curb that sat above the street. On a scooter with 9 1/2-inch wheels, the moment my front tire hit that raised edge, it stopped instantly and threw me face-first onto the concrete.
The accident split my upper lip open, knocked out my two front teeth, fractured my left cheekbone, and broke my left little finger.
