So my wife & I got two dogs from HVF. The first boy, Mr Fuji, a Toy Poodle, is a home run. He's one of the best dogs we've ever had. We thought our second boy, Rocky, also a Toy Poodle would be great too. We were wrong. HVF had told us when we bought him that he was hospitalized. We didn't know that this early hospitalization would lead to behavioral problems with him later. We called them after having him for a week or so and let them know that he was aggressive and the response was that maybe he "had penis envy", which was totally dismissive and ridiculous. We paid a lot of money for him and spent a lot of money and emotion trying to help him. He didn't get properly socialized with his litter mates. Rocky should not have been sold to anyone. HVF should've disclosed potential problems that would arise from these circumstances. We had Rocky for 2.5 years. We just put him down yesterday after he severely attacked our Boston Terrier for the 10th time. This last attack was awful. All the attacks were awful but we kept trying to work on his behaviors. Nearly every day there was some aggressive incident with him & our other dogs. He bit my wife numerous times. He growled at us several times a day for some action. He was on three meds a day. We had a dog counselor help us. It wasn't Rocky's fault. He was maladaptive. We loved him. Yesterday was difficult, we are devastated that we had to euthanize him. I feel HVF put profit over a dog's health. They should have kept Rocky as their dog or put him down early. He should not have been sold. read more
