I respect that a business can set its own prices; however, based on my first experience with…read moreGroveport Canal Animal Hospital, I won't be going back. One afternoon the week after Christmas, I accidentally cut my puppy's nail too short and had a bloody mess. I tried corn starch, applying pressure and even stopping by a pet store in Canal for styptic (they were out), but no dice. GCAH was open, so I stopped in. Up front, I did expect to pay a good chunk for a walk-in appointment during normal business hours. After five minutes waiting in the lobby a very friendly vet tech came out and eventually led me back to an exam room. She explained that both vets were busy but would try to squeeze me in, which I appreciated. She also got me a towel so my puppy wouldn't bleed all over me. She left and came back a couple minutes later to kindly let me know that it would be $160 to be seen. $160. To be clear, my puppy doesn't have a clotting disorder - I just needed styptic. I felt extremely price gouged. When I thanked the vet tech and let her know I didn't agree and would be going elsewhere, she gave me suggestions for what I could do and what to look for in healing. My three stars are for the great service she gave me, despite me ultimately heading elsewhere for a fraction of the price. (No cliffhanger - puppy was, of course, fine!)

I began working with Estate dogs to purchase a new puppy for my return. When I came back in the spring the owners were very adamant that I come up immediately to take the just whelped pup off their hands. When I arrived the dog had none of the desired characteristics of ball drive and coloring that I had described in detail from Afghanistan. We elected to wait for a new litter. Three months later when I contacted Estate dogs for an update I was told that litter "did not take" and there were no dogs available. I asked for a refund minus a service fee and the owners have refused to answer my calls or email me. I would caution anyone from working with this business. When we got our first dog, a few days after, she wasn't feeling well and could not keep down food. We took her to Amanda Animal Hospital and we found out she had parvo. They didn't give her a great chance to survive but they were willing to do anything and everything. After four days at the hospital our dog made it through. If we didn't take her there and without their quick and effective treatments I don't think she would have made it. They usually focus on large breed but also serve house pets as well. The folks there are always friendly and you can see and feel their passion for animals. Our dogs have had a several operations and yearly check ups and they have done an excellent job!! We recommend them to anyone with pets and looking for a great vet. If you love your animals as much as we do and want the beat care I wouldn't any further than Amanda Animal Hospital.

For his birthday we decided to set up training for Cracker (and Finn) with Brett. Brett was very attentive to what we needed to learn with Cracker. He taught Finn how to work with her, how to read her body language, and the correct way to communicate with her so she knew what he wanted her to do. Brett also taught them the agility course. That was so much fun for both Cracker and Finn! We hope to continue further training with Brett. He is amazing with all of his knowledge. If we have questions, he has answers. He also checks in to make sure things are going well. Thank you, Brett for such a wonderful service you are providing!
