So, I did a thing today...Wine, you say? Don't mind if I do. Let me begin by saying that I love muscadines, the grape of the South. My daughter was home to celebrate her birthday and was looking for something interesting to explore. I mentioned wine and she immediately said, "how about muscadine wine." Our favorite brand of wine is Hidden Meadow. Say less, let's go! We found a Groupon, reserved a time and away we went. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! When you look up peace, Webster should have a picture of this place. The personal tour was great. We learned a lot about wine making in the South. There's nothing like Southern hospitality. The grounds were beautiful and picturesque. The cozy seating on the front porch felt like home and the outdoor patio is great for having a nice cookout and/or family get together. Now let's talk wine. My favorite will always be the Scuppernong. But there are others like the Riesling, Blackberry, Blueberry, Blush, Rose, dry, table, fruit blends and more. I've been to a few tastings but never wanted to grow a grape or muscadine until now. This family was so open and welcoming about growing, producing and distributing wine until it made me think, yes I could do this. I'm not but they made me think I could. We first had these amazing wines at a nearby wine festival in the fall but only had the opportunity to check out the winery this past weekend. When we arrived at this lovely spot, the proprietors welcomed us in and spent easily a half hour (or more!) taking us through their wine selection. Not only did they accommodate my handicapped mother during the tasting, they didn't charge ANY of us for the flights. After we bought a few bottles, we were lucky enough to enjoy a picnic on their back porch. I cannot recommend this family owned and operated winery highly enough. The wines are SO much better than other local wineries (looking at you Ozan ), and the people there are too notch. Cruising down the tree-lined country roads to Jemison to this sweet little vineyard was a perfect spend of a Saturday with our cousins. The loveliest folks taught us all about their wine-making process using the grape varieties that thrive locally in the humid Alabama climate. We even sampled their fascinating Alabama wines. Some developed from muscadine, some from one particular grape, and even some peach, blackberry, and blueberry wines fermented directly from these fruits of the Alabama soil. We enjoyed these folks and their lovely property, and we purchased several bottles to take back to Texas to share the stories and flavors from our trip with our family and friends. The Bailey family put their hands on every single bottle they sell. They share their craft in a building also built by their own hands. Their generosity was heart-warming. Live music drifted in from the patio during our tasting. At a loose end next weekend? Make the drive, learn something new, enjoy the day with somebody you live sipping some tasty wine on the patio. We have been coming to this winery for about six years now it's our favorite one in the area by far. The people are super super nice and make you feel very at home, the atmosphere is very relaxing and chill .There is plenty of seating for buying a bottle to enjoy it right in the middle of the vineyard . This is also parking right out front! Right now they're open Friday and Saturday 10 to 6. Enjoy !!!! read more

The people here are so friendly and the wine is delicious. There are many varieties but sweet wine lovers will be the happiest here. We took home a few bottles after our tasting and were pleasantly surprised with the reasonable prices. I just called this vineyard , and the women who was the owner was so rude to me. She answered the phone. No introduction no business name just a mean hello. When I asked her why no introduction she immediately got offensive. She said look I get 50 calls a day I don't know if you were a robot. I said no I was calling to schedule an appointment. When I told her I wasn't sure if I was even willing to come anymore because of the way she acted and she went off on me. So I immediately hung up the phone within a few seconds she called me back and she continued to yell and be rude to me I am calling Groupon to let them know of my experience. read more
