Hidden Cam is Brighton's only single-room rehearsal space, at an extremely spacious 30m² (only Brighton Electric can boast a larger room). You will always be the only band on site during your booking. With free parking directly outside and with the owner/operator always on site to assist, the hassle of load-in and load-out will never be a problem again.
History
Established in 2013.
After 6 years spent helming a number of production projects, including critically acclaimed albums by Brighton legends Vile Imbeciles & Kalakuta Millionaires, as well as Estonia's TNVVNüM, the time seemed right to start up a business rather than work out of my bedroom - the quality of the productions could only improve with a dedicated space, and it would allow me to record the bands as well as just mix and master their work.
Since the studio opened, I've been lucky enough to have some of the best bands in town come through, either for recording, mixing or rehearsals - Bad For Lazarus, Clowwns, The Electric Soft Parade and Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster founders Piano Wire have all been through the doors, and two continue to call Hidden Cam home for their rehearsal needs. Despite that, I'm always excited to hear new artists and help them make their work the best it can be.
Meet the Business Owner: Cameron D.
I began my career in Sound Engineering at Amsterdam's SAE Institute in 2007. Graduating with a diploma in 2008.
I moved to Estonia after the course, where I became involved with the Tallinn underground music scene via association with the group TNVVNüM. I produced their 2nd album, "Ouroboros", which culminated in an Album of the Week spot in the national newspaper Eesti Päeveleht and even an appearance in the same paper's "Top 10 of 2009" column.
In mid-2010 I returned to the UK, where I almost immediately began work on Vile Imbeciles' "D is for W", the third album from ex-Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster's Andy Huxley's experimental rock outfit. The album was well received by critics at Uncut and Mojo. After this, I mixed and mastered the debut release for Brighton's Kalakuta Millionaires, which was Number 1 on the World Music Network.
My philosophy has always been to make something good something great - my work so far is testament to that, and I hope I can do the same for you.
