I've come here several times since moving to Brunswick 3 years ago and the last couple experiences have left me thinking the place is going down hill. There are some really bad oversights that just make for a bad experience. You go to the the theater (and pay a lot of money to do so) for the experience and that oversight really took away from that. This was the second time they forgot to dim the lights when the movie started. The first time, they finally shut them off about 20 minutes in. This last time, we watched the entire movie with the lights on in a tiny theater with the seats all mislabeled (they had some digital system that confused everyone who came in the theater). During the previews, only the audio was playing. I asked someone to turn the lights off twice during the movie but it never happened. At the concessions, they were out of popcorn butter and two popular drink options at 7pm on a Saturday night. I could let these things slide normally but given the movie experience I think it just adds up to a theater that doesn't have its crap together anymore and isn't worth the money. It's sad because 'd rather support a local, independent theater but I can't throw my money away the one of the few nights I can get out and enjoy a movie w my family. read more

First, the popcorn buckets are a SCAM. Cashiers told me that the refillable bucket could be refilled for FREE. After my movie I went to go refill it, they tried to charge me $8! read more

My husband was trying to surprise me after a work out and pick me up some movie popcorn. He stopped in apparently 10 minutes after they locked the doors for the last showtime. Not only did John (manager/owner), unlock the doors and let him in, but he insisted on making fresh popcorn. Thank you John. You made my day! Went to Hickory Ridge to see The Rise of Skywalker. This small Brunswick theater is found in a plaza off of 42 and is worth the trip! Night time tickets of $8, alcohol served for the weekend release of Star Wars, festive entrance and friendly employees all make the experience worthwhile. The concessions are REASONABLY PRICED! We purchased a medium popcorn and two medium drinks for $8; candy was $3. The sound is fair, picture is rather small for a theater but neither are poor enough to hinder the film. My seat was filthy, however... maybe that should be expected from a cheap theater in a plaza? This prevented a 4 star rating. read more

Last night,Thanksgiving, I took my son to see the Penguins Of Madagascar movie at Hickory Ridge. Let me start off by saying I love that this independent theater has the most reasonable prices around. Then I'm informed that for the holiday they had a free popcorn promotion. Every paid ticket received a free popcorn. Their "mega" size soda comes with a free refill. This theater may not be as fancy as it's neighboring theaters but it's not dirty like I've heard people say. It's just not a place for snobs. Sorry, I just get tired of people expecting their lives experiences to be as if they were Kennedys. Bottom line: current movies, best ticket prices, not robbing you at concessions, this is what a theater should be like. Hickory Ridge does it right! read more

I am giving this a 5 star rating for the prices. Even new run movies are $2 cheaper than the competition. This is a true family run outfit and they keep the prices as modest as they can. The refreshments (popcorn, soda, snacks, etc.) are cheaper than the large cinema chains and the seating has good legroom. (Have you noticed the seating becoming more and more like the airlines?) The best part: when a new popular movie (take "Harry Potter" for instance) is released and you can't get into a theatre for 3 days, they have plenty of space for you here on opening night! How cool is that? The staff is personal and friendly (at a theatre? A welcome aspect) And let's face it..prices at theatre's are an expensive everywhere, from the tickets to the snacks...overpriced & not worth the cost usually. But here, more your costs are reasonable andseating is available. I don't know of too many theatres like this around. If you want a good flick off the beaten path, and savings too, this is the place to head out to. Shhhhhh. read more

Yet another wonderful experience at my favorite theatre. We went to see the 7:25 Anchorman last night. When we got there though, the woman at the ticket booth told us the time had changed and it actually started at 7:05. They had forgotten to change it on the website. Since no one bought tickets, the movie didn't run. She felt so bad about the time change, she ran the movie just for the three of us! Our own private show. This place really knows how to make the customers feel special. I love this theatre and I would always go here if given the choice! read more

Absolutely disgusting, are the two words that come to mind after visiting this place last night. We used to come to this place often, and though it was not as "updated" as maybe a Regal or Cinemark, it was clean and well taken care of. However, they seem to be under new management (by their huge sign) and they are not doing very good. My mother and I went to see Age of Ultron last night. The lady who was selling tickets was slower than molasses. We had two people in front of us, and it took nearly 7 minutes to finally get our tickets. Whoever the women selling tickets needs to figure out what she is doing. We wonder over to concession and get our usual, medium popcorn and two drinks, a sprite and diet pepsi. I made the mistake of not asking for light ice, and I sure am glad I didn't! I took my sprite over to the concession trashcan to scoop out the ice, and discovered many black flake-like things floating all throughout my drink. Eeew! I quickly told my mom to just toss her drink. Completely gross and inexcusable I seriously think you should consider about what might be in your drink next time you go here. Also, the bathrooms were just as disgusting, I have never seen them look so disease infested. Whoever this new mangament is needs to focus on cleaning first, instead of obnoxious signs. read more

Our favorite!! We love this theater! It's very lowkey and is much cheaper than others. I love that it's a blast from the past with the interior design still. Very nostalgic! I hope they keep it this way and don't turn into every other chain theater. The only time I visited here my experience was ok. This doesn't mean this is a terrible movie theater, it's a great movie theater! But I will not let my average experience outweight all the good things I payed no attention to but now realize I missed! The prices for movie tickets are some of the lowest you will ever find along with the prices for refreshmetns. The popcorn and the snacks are at fairly good prices that taste heavenly, some of the best theatre food. For a private cinema, the seating is plush and has good legroom with good armrests with a well kept clean atmosphere and pleasant carpeting all around. I do miss this cinema and hope to someday get the chance to come back here before they may decide to change anything. Nothing needs to be done, it's almost perfect in everyway. read more

This is why I love independently owned businesses. You find that site managers and staff are empowered to make quick decisions regarding the service of their customers. The Issue: Google had listed a 9:55 showtime for Avengers Age of Ultron on a Monday night. Myself, my date, as well as 4 others who, like me, anticipated a 9:55 showtime approached the theater around 9:40. As it turns out, the time online was a mistake. The final showing of the night was at 7:20 according to the signage on the door. In fact, the doors of the theater were locked and it first appeared like there was no one in the building. A gentleman who I can only assume was part of the management staff, noticed the 6 of us milling about outside and poked his head out wondering if he could help us with something. What we expected: "Sorry, we don't have a show that late tonight, you can try again at 7 tomorrow night." What we got: He excused himself for a moment to check the feasibility of reopening the theater to show the movie. He returned about a minute later and let us in, locked the doors behind us and got us our tickets He started the movie, and remained the only employee there for the duration of show. There were only 6 of us and the show let out after midnight. Very Impressed. read more

Hadn't been here for a couple of years and was really pleased with all the new improvements. The new lounger seats are super comfy ... wasn't expecting recliner in a movie theater. The only draw back is less seats available.. so get to the show early. Now on the down side - the sound could use a couple of decibels higher. read more

Super cheap, late shows, courteous staff, newest movies, kid friendly and great deals/combos.

If you don't care about the fancy recliners and all that other unnecessary stuff this is the place to go. Recently I have notice that going to the movies is focused on everything except for the movie. The seats at most theaters now are packed full with people stuffing their faces with popcorn and talking and doing everything but watching the movie. If all this rubs you the wrong way go to Hickory Ridge, yes it is a step back in time but in a good way, the prices are much better, the crowds are much better, and the whole experience is much more nostalgic and intimate. read more

Theaters are not clean . Employees are kids who know nothing . Prices on their food menu are wrong and have been wrong for two months .Guess no one knows where the numbers are to correct them . Audio in all theaters is terrible . Anything loud is OK , but if the actors are holding a conversation , forget trying to hear it . Went last Saturday to the 11:00 AM showing of Halloween in theater 8 and froze my ass off...Love to support local businesses but this place is making it hard to do so . We as a family went tonight since it was free popcorn night. There were 5 of us to see the same movie. It was frigid cold and checking the thermostat indicated that it was barely 60 degrees and blowing cold air on us (did I mention that it is winter and 10 degrees outside). The movie simply stopped and it took me 10 minutes of ringing a bell, calling the theater, and even knocking on doors to find an employees. He said "he was working" on it. The other couple joked that they were leaving and headed out into the snow where it was warmer. Not much of an exaggeration. When I complained, you would have thought the sole employee there would have attempted to compensate for the terrible time or take our info so someone else could have.... nope.. Not real happy as a family with our experience tonight! read more

It's just "ok" for sure. The theater is quite dirty (my feet actually sticking to the floor at our seats).. Many seats covered with plastic garbage bags because of some sort of leaks in the ceiling (I'm assuming) .. The actually seats are pretty dirty also. They don't offer any caption glasses for people who having hearing deficits so I heard about every 3rd word. The price is a good thing though and we will occasionally return but I would rather go to one that is cleaner. read more

After traveling out of state and working some unreasonable work hours, I finally got a night free to go see a few of the summer movies I have had on my list for months. Only these days the movies seem to only last two or three weeks at the primer theaters! Argh. I finally found Maleficent showing at Hickory Ridge and although it was a 1 hour drive to go see the show it was worth it. This is a smaller theater with 8 screen holding about 110 seats per screen room, which gives a little more of a old fashion theater audience feel. The sound system is good, but not the over the top bass that some theaters have. The restrooms and theater room were clean and in good condition. The staff was friendly and the free popcorn on the "off nights" a nice touch. This place is definitely a little hidden gem for the Brunswick area. I hope to be back to this theater in the coming weeks to see a few more of the flicks I missed this summer, and I won't mind the drive knowing the theater is in such a nice area and with such friendly staff. read more

The last change in ownership really pissed me off because I got some gift certificates $50 worth and the new owners wouldn't honer them. What a load of crap. The employees who work the concession stand was not friendly to my children. My two kids and their grandmother went to go see a movie tonight and my son 13 and daughter 9 went to the concession stand to get some snacks and drinks spending about $35.00. The lady working the concession stand was very rude to them and very sarcastic. If you dont like your job, why are you working a customer service position? Don't go on a Sunday at 3pm to 6pm if you have children. read more

This place is a great value. First run movies, affordable prices, great special deals during the week on popcorn and soda... I love this place... Just look at the reviews... The majority of them are favorable... My wife and I go a handful of times per year and the majority of the time, we have a very good experience... Worst movie experience ever! My husband and I went to see hangover......so excited about seeing it. We buy popcorn and sodas- after it is radio'd in on the walkie talkie. We proceed to theater where a young girl checks our ticket stubs. The movie begins and about after 10 minutes the girl that checked our tickets comes up behind me- and startles me. She is asking to show our stubs again, as she believes someone snuck in........ I can't believe this and tell her she already checked them and it is dark and the movie had already been playing - she is interrupting! She insists on seeing them- I manage to find them and we are so mad. My husband then went out to speak to the manager about the disruption and the way they handled the situation. There was no resolution to our complaint. After the movie we approached the manager wanting to know how he was going to rectify the situation. The manager didn't apologize and felt that there was nothing to rectify. And to top it all off - he claimed that people complained about us in the movie- lol...... The staff are the ones that approached us in the middle of the movie! We will not go to this place ever again..... What a shame! read more
