I don't have a ton to say but this is worth a stop in if you enjoy finding treasures! Dressing rooms were clean and open. This place isn't cluttery where you can't look, see, feel things. It was the right balance of clean and organized. Expect prices to seem a little high. I found a dress that I wanted to buy, I couldn't help but to think for an extra $5.00 I could buy it new but decided to buy it anyway. I think there are deals to be found, you just have to spend some time looking! Enjoy!

Having shopped here for years, this thrift is in bad shape. There is signage about their pricing,…read morebut it's now generally hidden and even so, they don't respect the prices they post. Today I tried to buy a quart glass jar to store paint in, found the sign (it was hidden) that says pint jars are a quarter and quart jars are 50 cents, only to be told at checkout it is $3. I said the sign says 50 cents she said oh thats for a pint jar. No, your sign says thats quart jars are 50 cents. She said well it's going to be $3 but today it's buy one get one free so that's good. A fellow shopper who overheard this said "these prices are too high!" as I walked past him to put it back. I mean, spaghetti sauce comes in these jars! This has happened repeatedly. Their inventory is not moving because it's overpriced. The back room is dark, has boxes of unsorted merchandise sitting, and it had rained so water had backed up into the room on the concrete floor. Well worth the drive to Salida to skip Newbees these days.

Just want to give a shout-out to this wonderful store and Sharon who works there. I've stopped in a…read morecouple of times on Colorado road trips and there are some real treasures that make the store a great place to browse. On my most recent visit, I bought a painting and needed it shipped to Seattle. Sharon took down my info and said she'd make the arrangements with a local shipping company. When she investigated, she felt the price was too high so she created your own packaging and took my purchase to a spot in Denver (the next time she headed there), arranging for it to be shipped at one-third the original quote. So above and beyond! What's more, when I called to make the final payment arrangements, I immediately recognized Sharon's friendly voice from when I was in the store. It's because of Sharon that my partner commented, then and now, "I love Coloradans!" Yes, she's excellent PR for the entire state. Worth a visit. It's going to be a regular stop for me whenever I'm passing through.

This is a great thrift store. My only issue is a pretty significant change they made to their…read morebuying/selling process. They quit returning the clothes they wouldn't sell. I sell a lot of name brand clothing, stuff like Patagonia/free people/north face. I also have two other places I sell to so I would take the items Julie's Cubbie didn't want and either sell them there or on eBay. I've been selling at this place (FKA free the monkey) for nearly ten years. After they made this change in their buying policy I quit selling here which was a bummer. I really like the establishment and the folks who run it. But I won't miss out on money I can easily get for my items because somehow it makes the process too difficult to return what they don't want to buy.
