Food is over priced, service is good, food quality bad. Half of my chicken was just gristle, poor quality.

It was probably a bad idea to come here but Kita was close to my hotel and I didn't want to drive…read morefar for lunch after just arriving in town. They have several choices on the 3 pages of menus so it made it sort of difficult to pick my poison, so to speak. They bill themselves as modern Japanese. Not sure what that meant, but basically they play modern upbeat music and have a modern interior. They do have lunch specials during the week, but I didn't see many that were appealing as they're a combination of Chinese, Thai and Japanese dishes. They also had poke bowls for lunch, but I'm not so sure about that. Their sushi rolls appeared to be made mostly with cream cheese, which I'm not a big fan of in rolls, so those were out as well. I ended up ordering off of the dinner menu. I chose the grilled lamb chops and a side of steamed rice. I totally missed the 3rd menu which featured the sushi and specialty rolls. The lamb chops were ok, they did have a slight grilled flavor, but also another weird flavor like they weren't that fresh. Maybe customers don't order lamb chops here, as much as maybe they would at a fancy American or Mediterranean restaurant. Either way, I still ate them because I was hungry. I prefer the frenched rib chops better than the loin chop which is served here....since its a much tastier cut. In addition, it's usually more expensive. Overall, I don't see myself ever returning here since I'm also not in the area that much. Service was adequate as our drinks were refilled a couple of times and the waiter made sure to stop by and check on us.

This was our second visit to Kita for a casual lunchtime escape, and once again, it did not disappoint. In fact, my stomach was doing a little happy dance by the time we left. From the thoughtfully crafted dishes to the stylish and welcoming ambiance, Kita continues to impress. We shared three rolls, each one showcasing a playful balance of texture and flavor. The "Black and Yellow Roll" was a vibrant blend of salmon, avocado, cucumber, cream cheese, mango, and eel--sweet, creamy, and rich, yet refreshingly light. The "Fry Me a River Roll" was a decadent indulgence, with a medley of chopped fish and salmon paired with cream cheese, all deep-fried in a crispy spring roll wrapper--delightfully crisp on the outside and savory on the inside. Our favorite, though, might have been the "Surf and Turf Roll", a bold combination of panko shrimp, bacon, scallop delight, avocado, and asparagus, topped with seared ribeye and finished with a truffle soy drizzle. Every bite was a flavor bomb--luxurious and satisfying. All in all, Kita remains a go-to for a delightful sushi fix, and we're already looking forward to our next visit.

My appetizer, Tuna Tataki, really stole the show for me. The combination of the lightly seared Tuna and cucumber really hit the spot. Very savory as well as invigorating. My wife enjoyed her Hibachi Chicken and Philadelphia roll, two classic items that need no explanation. Now for the Beef Udon Soup, I didn't know what to expect but I was surprised in a good way. A ton of food in a nice chicken broth. It's the little things though, for example the way the green onions were sliced. I would recommend this Japanese steakhouse. PS: The house soup is one of the best recipes I've tried.

The service is always great, with servers that are always willing to answer any questions or get anything you might want or need. They always check to see that your food and service is satisfactory. The dining area is modern, clean and well kept. While this is a Hibachi restaurant it is not one where they cook at your table, if you enjoy the "show" that you get at those types of Hibachi restaurants this one is not the one for that.
