Worthy of a visit if you are in the area. The building was built from native keystone, quarried in the Florida Keys, Honduran Mahogany doors, Spanish clay floor tiles, and wrought iron fixtures. The building's Spanish influence is apparent, conforming to Coral Gables' guidelines for the Mediterranean Revival style. The main reading room has 15-foot high ceilings with exposed wood beams. It was designed by Edward T. Rempe, AIA, and his associate, Wray G. Succop, AIA. The library's interior is a blend of Spanish and contemporary influence.

Going to the library and looking up books is fundamental in my opinion. Instant gratification isn't great for these kiddos all the time. This library is close to the new crib and although they are going through some renovations, the bones are still strong. I've never had any issues finding books or using the computer, and often come here to study or do remote work at one of the many available tables with outlets. I know libraries are a public service and there's no financial incentive for the employees to keep this place so well-maintained, but you can tell everyone in the community cares about making this facility a friendly, pleasant space for people to enjoy.

Lots of mixed feelings about this place…read more Plenty of computers and floor space but oddly not enough tables and chairs. The study rooms are like freezers but midday on the second floor is an oven. Plenty of printers but the wifi is spotty. Recently the management changed study room policy greatly limiting the flexibility of group work- resulting in mostly empty rooms as opposed to the constant battle for them. The stacks are quiet but have terrible ambience and even more terrible internet connectivity. It can get a bit creepy at night as desperate study spot vultures circle the shelves behind you. Accidentally taking the elevator down to the M level is also reminiscent of a potential horror movie scenario with its locked cage gates and dimly lit narrow aisles. Nonetheless, the place is open 24/7 during finals and is a reliable place to surround yourself with people doing mildly academic things. You'll at least feel a little less guilty about not studying after sitting here for half the day. Try the music library or the law library for a better library experience. If you're just here to get books, Richter is just as good as any other. At the end of the day, Richter is a University Library which could be a lot worse and has a fair number of amenities, and at least- does it's job passably. More like a 3.5 but I'll round to 4 for effort!

The employees and volunteers are very knowledgeable and whatever they don't know, they make sure to find out. And where did I end up? Not at home with a snack, not on the streets getting into trouble--nope. My babysitter was the Shenandoah Library. This place saved me. It was air-conditioned (a gift in Miami), quiet (unless I was breathing heavy down the book aisles), and mercifully free. I'd wander the stacks pretending to look studious but really hoping to stumble across a forbidden "naked lady book." Spoiler alert: no luck. When that mission failed, I'd lock myself in the bathroom for way too long, only to get the inevitable librarian knock: "Kid, are you still in there?" Yeah, I was. Don't judge me--at least I wasn't out buying Hot Cheetos. And yet, between the failed nudie hunts and the bathroom marathons, I actually discovered books. Real ones. Stories that made me laugh, wonder, and eventually fall in love with reading. Shenandoah Library didn't just keep me off the streets--it accidentally gave me a lifelong obsession with words. Not because it was perfect--libraries in the 90s smelled like dust and faint mildew--but because it tolerated me. It gave me refuge when I was awkward, overweight, and searching for something (besides naked ladies). It was patient, forgiving, and quietly life-changing. Shenandoah Library: where a chubby kid found air-conditioning, refuge, and a love of books--even if the librarians had to drag him out of the bathroom to do it.

As a library they are small but they have many other great options such as a park, kid playground…read morearea, and a pool along with an inside gym. But even though they are a small branch staff are always friendly. Parking is a bit difficult since the park has a lot of patrons and never seems to be enough parking available. And be warned DO NOT park in the residence area as your car will be towed. Saying from experience. But overall a nice little branch that's great especially if you have small kids.

They are close to the printer station except to reload your card with money to print you have to go to the first floor. This library also has a Starbucks although always busy is nice and convenient. Today i chose to eat in one of the non-quiet levels so i can get to know some of my peers. Loved it. I am looking forward to checking out the other floors. One thing that i really liked was the security. You are required to be an FIU student to enter as well as leave, there are small scanners to prove you were in and out of the library that say. I did find many workers standing around just scoping out the area, I am assuming to check out & watch everyone. Since it is my first semester here, I will obviously be back! :)

Found out about this small library because it's right next to our favorite dim sum restaurant,…read moreSouth Garden. It's is located inside a shopping center and no one knows its even there. After COVID, they have new people working there. They even had renovation and it looks like a completely different library. Their decorations are always on theme, so beautiful and creative. And for a itty-bitty library, their calendar is jammed packed with programming for kids, teens and adults. We come for tutoring on Saturdays and for special programs. But this place is always packed with families with their kids having fun during storytime and arts and crafts. They have a small collection of a little bit of every genres for all ages. They also have dvds at no one checks-out anymore which is sad but they also have video games for all consoles. They have computers with internet access. The staff are actually really friendly and really helpful. It's too bad that we will see them call the police because some people can't act right, especially knowing there's children around. Overall, this branch has become our favorite. We come here atleast once a week and are always welcomed by the workers.
