This is my first time ever writing a review, and I hate that it has to be a negative one. Unfortunately, our experience with Hi-Way Campers, Inc. has been nothing short of horrendous. When we bought our camper three years ago, the service at purchase was great. However, everything went downhill once our trailer required extensive service. For the past eight months, we haven't had our camper as it has either been at Hi-Way or at Lance in CA. During this time, we've encountered the worst customer service we have ever experienced. The service manager, Yvonne, has been rude, dismissive, and even told us to take our business elsewhere. Our brand-new Lance trailer needed a complete floor replacement (manufacturer defect), which led to a series of miscommunications and unreturned calls. Eventually, our camper was transported back to the Lance manufacturer in California. After seven months, we were notified that it had returned to Connecticut. When we went to pick it up, Yvonne merely handed us the keys without even walking us to the trailer. Inside, we found a cabinet door on the floor jammed under the broken bedroom door, a damaged kitchen counter, and the trailer was filthy, inside and out. Understandably agitated, we approached Yvonne, who said "Have a nice day. Find another Lance dealer". After liaising with the manufacturer again, we finally picked up our camper today, vowing never to return to Hi-Way Campers, Inc. Yvonne once again simply handed me the keys telling me to find it on the lot. When I pressed her for paperwork telling her we will not be replacing the kitchen counter at Hi-Way, she gave me the entire file (her originals?) and said, "Good." I must add that Lance has been decent to deal with in the final hours, and they have provided us with a different repair facility in order to complete the rest of the unfinished work. They will be sending the countertop to them directly. It's shocking how many reviews mention Yvonne by name--she is the face of their service department, and they should be ashamed to employ her. Avoid Hi-Way Campers, Inc at all costs, or hope that you never need servicing. read more

Just completely stay far away from this company, you'll be happy that you did. Like a used car salesman, after you leave the lot, you no longer exist. The simply refuse to do service work except for the rare few for appearances. Not sure what the Service Manager holds over the head of the owner but apparently she runs the business, not him. read more

1 star is too many. The shoddiest work I have ever seen and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They do not stand behind their shoddy work either. I spoke to the service manager and the OWNER....neither could have cared any less about my concerns. High prices too. Stay away. read more

My family and I were camping at Countryside Campground in Griwold, CT when the motor of our power awning snapped off our 5th wheel. This meant we had to somehow retract the awning or cut/remove the 16' awning before we would be able to return home. We were at a loss as to what to do. We called Hi-Way Campers and they were instrumental in helping us out. They were able to identify the exact part we needed and they even gave us the part number. While they did not have the part (no one did!), we were able to contact the awning mfg and overnight the part to us. I cannot express enough gratitude, the service and assistance Hi-Way Campers provided us in our hour of need! read more

We have bought a park model and 2 travel trailers from Hi Way and have always had a great experience here...Friendly and knowledgeable sales staff. Always upfront and honest. Had a manufacturing issue with our last travel trailer and Hi Way helped us in dealing with the manufacturer and we had a positive result. Good selection and fair prices. VERY pleased with Hi-Way Campers. I saw a camper online, called right away and Carol held it for me so I could get up there to see it. It is in perfect condition and it was a competitive price, very reasonable. We were concerned with the electric brakes and anti-sway bars but they rolled it in for peace of mind. We love the staff, they made our experience so seamless, easy, and pleasant. I love that they took our very few hesitations and addressed them so that they completely melted away. I will highly recommend them to all of our family, friends, and even acquaintances and strangers! If you haven't been there yet, GO! What are you waiting for? read more

Bought a used camper that was promised to be checked thoroughly and cleaned. Neither were completed before a very delayed delivery. Had one toilet not pumped that backed up and we had to take care of it. Only offered a maid to come out. They never returned phone calls or emails about other problems with our camper. This included working with the owner and manager. Would not recommend. read more

The receptionist or whomever that Barbara person is is incredibly rude. We went to talk about having something on our RV fixed and she wouldn't even let us get a word in...she just blurted out "we are too busy winterizing OUR campers to deal with yours". What?? What kind of customer service is that? Not to mention that My Dad is a senior...who treats a senior like that? Needless to say we found a much better establishment that welcomed our business and could not have been nicer. Go to Raymond's in Franklin. Raymond's in Franklin is excellent with excellent customer service. We were greeted with a smile and respect. read more

Some of you know, we finally got the rv back from @hiway campers in plainfield. What an awful experience. It's a family run and owned business and that is why i went to them. What a huge mistake. The first problem, it took them three weeks to get an estimate to us even though when we dropped it off, they told us a few days. We had to bug them every few days. We got the estimate and turned it over to the insurers. They got me a check in had it in my account within 3 days. It arrived on a Thursday, i went @hiwaycampers on Friday because they made me pay for the stoveand refridg before they would order it. Not sure the date but i have the receipt. I waited two more weeks to get status. Most of the time i got no return call. When i did reach the service dept, i was told nothing. Frustration grew and we went up there one after noon. To drop the hammer, either fix it or give me the money back and i will do it. Amy called that day prior to us going up there and the service manager said she could cancel the order of we wanted. This does not make sense. The order was placed several weeks ago. Most likely not. We talked to the owner, Ken. Expressed or frustration. He says it would be done in a week. Ok. Two weeks went by, nothing. I called again. I was told that the fridg was in and being tested. However the stove was damaged during shipment and we needed another one. One would think that the stove and the fridge would be inspected prior to all this knowing the stuff they are puttig us through. Anyway, total cost for their time and labor. 3 hours. Total time rv sat in thier lot, 2 months. The day i picked itup , i stopped and wanted to vent some frustration to the owner. He could care less. I told him he won and we would never shop with him again. I thanked him and walked out. Stay away from Hi-Way Campers in Plainfield. read more

I just bought a used Jayco Jayflight travel trailer from hiway campers and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Great friendly people made everything easy for me and I got a great deal. Everyone was very knowledgable and helpful. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Definitely 5 stars for this family run business! read more

Brought my camper there before I went cross country, by myself, asked them to check everything tires, etc. also needs new crank handle check propane. Well on the first leg of my journey the new crank handle and lid blew off. I then also needed to get 4 new tires and my drivers side propane tank/connection didn't work properly. After paying them $270 !!!! Again I told them I was traveling across country by muse and wanted to bsafe. Obviously they don't care about customers safety. I will never go back there again nor will I recommend it to anyone. Now I have new tires 2 new roof lids and fixed propane from another service center. Thanks for nothing read more

The sales and parts people are wonderful but Barbera in the service department is outright rude and tries to make you feel like an idiot and that she is doing you a favor just to talk to her. I had a leak on my camper and the tech could not find it, so I tried to explain on the phone to her where a it was and she told me there was no leak. I drove up there {half hour drive} to show them. I asked if I could show someone and she tells me that the tech that worked on it was not in that day and to take it home and bring it back at another time. I explained I wanted to leave it there to be fixed and she said no. So I went to Ken the owner and he sent me back up there to see Chris who did look at it. Barbera was mad at me and I think that's why it's still not fixed yet. As long as she is there, I will never go there for service again read more

Exceptional service for many years from Hi-Way Campers! They made our travel trailer purchase easy and they're service department always does our winterizing each year and any "fixes" we may need. I'll never go anywhere else. We love Colleen! read more

These guys are amazing. We went to pick up our trailer at a rental company and our lights didn't work. These guys dropped everything to help us get fixed and on the road. Service department is top notch. Helpful and pleasant. Can't recommend enough. read more

Sales department I will give 4 stars service on the other hand should be shut down I think a bunch of 10 year olds could do better work bought a brand new camper the power inverter died and the girl running the service department told me it's a new camper you have to work the bugs out of it I spent 30k on a camper really plus other repairs they did still aren't fixed correctly just fixed the seal on slide out myself after they attempted to fix it 3 times I would love to buy another one there but with service like that not going to happen I feel bad for the sales department read more

No stars! These guys are turkeys. We stopped at their facility, two cowboys passing through with a slide-on camper on our pickup and a sm trailer w/2 horses. We asked in a very polite and friendly way if they could please replace two of our plastic skylights, which were damaged by the snow this past winter, and we just discovered it. If it rains heavy, our camper will be soaked inside, the worst possible thing for a camper. She said they were too busy. I mentioned we were told they're very easy to replace. She agreed, they're very quick to repair, but they're too busy to help us. So: they got five guys working in their yard, and none of them could take 20 minutes to help us as we are traveling through? Exactly what do they think their customer base is made of? People who are traveling, on the road!! VERY negative review for their selfish, unhelpful attitude. read more

Terrible customer service. We tried to buy a brand new camper with a price tag of about $48,000. We told them in February when we ordered it we needed to take delivery by May 1. We have been told for over a month the camper is done and on its way. We were "promised" to have the camper on at least five different occasions and none of those came through. No one from the factory direct will answer calls and always get the run around from both sides. Never buy anything from this company EVER!!!! read more
