I decided to get a beautiful mug with turquoise glaze accent and wildflowers painted on the sides for friend's birthday gift. At $20 I thought it was a bargain for a unique, handmade item. First,…read morethe great thing is that they came to us at our campground in the southern part of the park (Cottonwood) even though they are actually located closest to the Northern Entrance out of JT itself. Amy at the "front office" was easy going, easy to work with. We had a minor bump in the road when we were informed that the catering order would need to be reworked because their usual restaurant that prepares the food was not open on Sunday when our event was scheduled. Amy was quick to make two other suggestions, provide menus, and nail down a new dinner plan. And, the dinner itself was pretty good. Zarrin, aka Cosmic Z, our astronomy guide showed up on time. He was low key, and went about his business setting up dinner for us. We offered to help but he seemed like he was on a mission and had it covered. When it came to actually viewing the sky, Z brought out a mirrored telescope and a digital telescope. Both were fantastic and we viewed the Eagle Nebula and could see the Pillars of Creation. How awesome was that. We also saw the rings around Saturn very clearly, the Andromeda galaxy, and various constellations but most notably Pegasus because of its prominence in the sky during this time of the year. We actually came to see the Orionid meteor shower and when we mentioned this to Z he did not seem to know about it, which puzzled me. However, it became apparent that the shower had been hyped by the news and although we did see some meteors it wasn't something so spectacular that everyone would be buzzing about it. Z was totally polite, easy to ask questions, and knowledgeable. On the latter point, we had quizzed JT Excursions on his credentials before booking but didn't really get any satisfying answers. He is self taught, however, that implies he tinkers in the subject. Z was fully immersed and knew so much about the night sky and universe that even if we tried we could not stump him. Overall we really enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend using them. And we paid about $100 per person for a private morning tour. That's pretty good value IMO! The selection of different activities was very low but that was because we booked the busiest time of the season, and only about 3 weeks ahead of time. Booking process was very smooth. The only issue I had was they were unresponsive to any type of communication beforehand. After I booked online, I wrote them and email asking for confirmation, as well as called them and left a voicemail. I received no reply. I almost thought I might have been scammed! Thankfully that wasn't that case.

Both reformer and Mat Pilates classes are an excellent work out. The teachers are attentive, give lots of modifications and create a very welcoming environment. In regards to mat Pilates, Amanda's classes are hard but paced so that anyone can follow along. Elizabeth's classes are challenging but use lots of fun props. Stephanie will teach you about the history of Pilates and how your own body works (or doesn't work) and Tannis (the owner) is a hoot and a half and will have you laughing and thoroughly entertained while you work out to her electric taste in music. Ammo and Kimi do an excellent reformer classes if that is your style too. I am sure all the other teachers are great, as well. Tannis finds the best people who are well trained in classical Pilates and really care that their clients are doing the exercises properly. Ballet with Amanda is the reason I started attending this studio. Her mixed level class is such a treat. It can be difficult if you do know what you are doing but she teaches to the class, so some things will be easy to get right away and other things will be harder. I have learned so much from attending her class for a year, not just about technique but about the musicality and math of ballet too! She has recently started teaching a basic ballet class which I also recommend to anyone just starting out on ballet or anyone who wants to perfect their technique. Parking is always easy to find on the street. There is no front person so you have to be responsible for buying classes online and signing up. The atmosphere is very laid back and there is a wonderful mix of (mostly) women who attend the studio. Classes are never crowded and people learn your name quickly. This studio feels like a real community.

The class is 2 hours long & you get a teacher, ours was Violet, & a model, ours was Franco. They bring easels, paper, charcoal pencils. Franco is so handsome & sweet! & Violet guided us through several drawing techniques. A few in the group were already known artists but some of us were shy because, like me, I am not an artist. But we were all so pleased with our artwork thanks to the encouragement & teachings of Violet! Had a great time at my girlfriend's birthday party with Jesse as our paint guide. I had never done…read morea project like this before, but had always wanted to try. I was nervous, as my art skills are about as plentiful as SoCal snow in July... but Jesse was very encouraging. He made the project easy to follow, collaborated on color choices and techniques, and was patient with us when we were not patient with ourselves. Most of all, he was fun! He helped make sure everyone was enjoying their time and enjoying the project. Since this first party, Jesse has become a friend in this circle of friends. We all know him and several other friends have had him guide their gatherings, too. He's a top-notch artist, very comfortable to be around, knowledgeable, and an excellent teacher.
