Renowned for its rigorous academics, competitive athletics, and diverse student body. Founded in 1933 by the Franciscan Brothers, Saint Anthony's has a long-standing tradition of nurturing students from across Long Island, drawing families who value both educational quality and moral formation. I had the pleasure of witnessing firsthand, for the second time, how this school dedicates significant attention to our children's education, well-being, and discipline. These are elements that are crucial for balancing the growth of young children. It is truly an impressive institution that prioritizes holistic development. The principal, Brother David, speaks very well and clearly demonstrates intelligence, passion, and worldly wisdom. His leadership reflects the school's commitment to fostering a strong sense of community, faith, and academic achievement. Saint Anthony's High School highlights the importance of education, athletics, and spiritual growth, welcoming students regardless of their specific faith background, whether Catholic or other religions. It stands as a remarkable example of a school that values both academic and moral development, preparing students to succeed in all aspects of life.

There's a memorial statue of Jesus Christ outside of St. Anthony's that I pass by almost every day…read more And nearly every time I see it, it's covered in dirt and left unclean, as if it were just another object instead of a symbol of our Savior. It's heartbreaking to witness, especially from a Catholic school that is supposed to be built on honoring Christ in every way. This isn't just about a statue, it's about reverence. That memorial is meant to reflect the love, sacrifice, and presence of Jesus, yet it's consistently neglected. For a school that carries His name, this lack of care sends a message that directly contradicts the values it claims to teach. When something so symbolic is left in that state, and when attempts to bring attention to it are met with cold and dismissive attitudes, it raises a serious concern: Are we really honoring Him the way we should? A Catholic school should be a living reflection of Christ, in its words, its actions, and even in the way it tends to something as sacred as His image. This is not written out of criticism, but out of a deep hope that someone in leadership will take this seriously. Because Jesus deserves more than just a place on the property, He deserves to be honored in how that space is cared for, every day.

You played Moonlight Sinatra No. 14 3rd Movement" with your heart and soul beautifully! Unlike others just play with a bunch of notes. I really ENJOYED your performance! Seems, the last 5 years or so - a live on stage production does the Switcharoo. All the students (kids)do the producing, directing, choreograph, lights camera and action. All the actors are Adults (playing kids rolls) As in this noted production. A first for us, and a brief questioning of um confusion in seeing, an older gentleman playing the High School all around jock. Ahh I get it (after it was explained to me!) All nicely done, very entertaining, much comradery, appreciation and thank yous said and a particularly high energy spirit in the audience. (see pix) Seems that the lead performer was hospitalized for needed heart surgery and the stand in did so on short notice performed beautifully. They even had a collection for the Heart association. The evening before, on Friday there were some different actors and performers and crew putting on the show. Some were in the audience on Saturday. One young man named Joe, along with friends, sat behind us and were doing the dance moves. Others in the audience were clapping, and cheering their approval with much positive energy. Seeing it all and taking it in, it was a refreshing change and overall, it was, FUN.

My son began attending VEG in 2018. This has been by far one of the best decisions/investments…read morewe've made for him. Our son expresses that he feels very "different" in school. This lead him to feel very isolated which then manifested as anger and sadness at times. We discovered VEG when looking for something that he could do with kids that shared his interests. His father received positive feedback from a coworker who's children had all attended the VEG program and still talk about it (even now that they are in their latter high school years). After the first session, we noticed an instant positive change in our son's self esteem. He was eager to share everything that he learned. As he continued throughout the year he repeatedly expressed how grateful he is to be a student at VEG. The curriculum is clearly very well thought out and designed for children similar to my son. As a parent of an academically gifted child, I have learned that one of the most challenging things to overcome is remembering that although our son is extremely bright and is able to see the world in a way that is more mature than his peers (and many adults)...he is in fact still 9. He is still a child and wants to have fun. He wants to feel accepted and celebrated for his accomplishments. At VEG he gets this. Striking the right balance between stimulating the mind of the gifted child and still allowing them to be a child is not an easy task. Well done Village East Gifted! Thank you Tobi Phillips for creating such and exceptional program. Your work is making for an even brighter tomorrow with each child your program reaches.

At only 5 years old my daughter learned all 118 elements of the period table, and a long list of SAT words (that I didn't even know) along with the corresponding sign language. Each year, she and her classmates learned the geography of a different part of the world, putting all of the parents to shame with their knowledge. The program encompassed many diverse and interesting topics such as herbology, ornithology, Roman numerals, Greek and Latin root words, gothic architecture and the complete map of NYC including bridges and tunnels, just to name a few! The best part of all was that my daughter viewed all of this learning as "play" and she loved attending. I can't say enough positive things about this program, and highly recommend it for all precocious children!
