Marks and Spencer Simply Food is the only remaining store in the Stockport area, it is located next…read moreto Aldi on Commercial Road in Hazel Grove, a fairly small location but that's expected with it being a "Simply Food" location, from the outside the store looks welcoming (Although you should expect to queue), and there is a small number of parking spaces. Public transportation is also available, the 192 bus route is a couple of minutes walk away where you can go into Stockport town centre, or even onto Manchester Piccadilly. I couldn't find everything which I was looking for in-store, the selection of meats was poor, although they did have a nice selection of Marks and Spencer ready meals, including my favourite Cottage Pie, the "Made Without Wheat" section was OK, it was good for a small store. I do think the checkouts were a little awkward, they seemed to be queuing partway down the aisle, meaning certain fridges were blocked, this is quite common in many stores, but with Marks and Spencer being a little more high-end, you wouldn't really expect it here. The queues seemed to move super slowly too, both inside and outside of the store, doing more to promote their Mobile scanning and payment system and adding some self-service checkouts would really help. 3*

Asda on London Road in Hazel Grove is a fairly decent sized supermarket, although styled as "Asda…read moreSupermarket", it is slightly smaller than a Superstore and doesn't have all the facilities you'd expect to find in an ASDA such as an optician, café or an ASDA branded pharmacy (There are a few small kiosks inside the store, offering a Post Office, and a Well branded pharmacy as well as a former travel agent which has now shut down due to being owned by Thomas Cook) The product range is reduced to what you'd usually find in an ASDA store, while they do have a good range of products and most the range you'd expect, the number of products and then the different types of a similar product is limited, for example, the milk section was rather small and they didn't have the large Lipton Iced Teas, but they still had a small selection of what you'd expect, making this place OK if you're not too bothered about flavours/brands etc. It isn't the best supermarket in Hazel Grove, and I much prefer Sainsbury's, but I do prefer this store to the larger location in Stockport town centre nearby. You potentially would be able to do a weekly shop here but it would be a big push and reliant on your flexibility and luck, but there are much larger supermarkets nearby whether you're looking for an ASDA or Sainsbury's, so that does make it better. 4* - Slightly generous rating given the fact it is far from the best supermarket in the area in terms of choice of groceries but it is different, it has some cool and unique parts about the shopping experience which I like, as they do have a good number of facilities here and I do prefer this to the larger ASDA store, the Post Office is handy and it is useful that they have managed to get a pharmacy to be located here, but I do find it strange Asda missed the opportunity to add their own pharmacy here, which they have in many other stores, again including Stockport nearby.

My daughters feet are unusually wide and very difficult to find shoes for, so I called ahead and explained the situation. Spoke to a kind woman who said that they would book me in with one of their senior shop personel who has a lot of expertise, that we shouldnt worry because there are no awkward feet, just the wrong shoes. However when we arrived, they couldn't find us in their appointment book (appointment booked two says ago!). We were seen by a young teen who of course didnt have the experience necessary. He repeatedly heaved huge sighs, told my daughter she would just have to wear very long shoes or ask the school to overlook her lack of school shoes. When I said that is not an option due to problems with her ankles, he said he would ask for help from other staff. I said yes please, I was told when I booked the appointment that it was with a senior member of staff who is very experienced, I am sorry that we've caused you trouble. I hope you arent offended or discouraged, and he said no, not at all. Another member of staff then came over, sat down and told me I had been very rude! When I asked how and tried to explain the misunderstanding she shouted at me and told me to be quiet and be thankful she was now there. Then she said that she was done and walked out the back of the shop. I am genuinely unsure how I could have been more polite or tactful. I didn't at any point complain, criticise anyone, raise my voice, or use innapropriate language. My daughter is now crying and apologising for having "bad feet". I am heartbroken for my child and very confused and upset. Was hoping that if no suitable shoes were in stock we might order some as offered on their website. However, it is now very clear that the service offered on the website bears no resemblance to that offered instore.
