Cute little ice cream shop! I've heard it gets busy but when I came there was a super short line and we got our ice cream very quickly. Lots of different flavors to choose from. I enjoyed a scoop of monster mash which was delicious. Definitely good value for the price! Would go back again

Got the opportunity while traveling from the Moline area to Waterloo with a little time to spare, so took advantage of the opportunity. The exterior was clean, modern and inviting - with a literal buzz of excitement, activity and energy surrounding the building. The interior was a little dated, but clean and inviting - drawing your attention to the product that we are all there to enjoy. Best of all, and the reason for stopping in the first place, was the delicious ice cream. We shared the hand-dipped Black Raspberry Truffle (see picture), as we had already eaten a large dinner - and thoroughly enjoyed every bite! If you are in the area and love ice cream - you will definitely want to stop at Heyn's! If you found this review helpful, please show your appreciation with a Like or a Follow.

Bit of a different review. My son requested to be a Rubik's cube for Halloween. And he requested it spin. Cue hours of planning, which included needing a cylinder for the spinning mechanism. On a whim, I contacted Heyn's with a crazy request to buy one of their gallon ice cream containers. They easily could have turned me down. Instead, after a lot of explaining, the manager made an accommodation for this project. The end result would not have been possible without them going above and beyond for a customer. This place is awesome in general, delivering unique and delicious ice cream, but this shows a level of customer care that many of the big chain stores are missing as they aren't caring for their staff and customers. Huge thank you and they have life-time customers and bragging rights to a spinning Rubik's cube costume.

Tried to capture all the flavors currently in the case- of course my OG favorite is the Monster Mash! Service was great and the girls helping us were super efficient and helpful. They let both me and my fiancé sample 2 different flavors before we made our decision! We decided on a waffle cone with two different flavored scoops. I believe the top scoop was turtle cheesecake and bottom was the monster mash. Limited seating inside but there is a park nearby where you can easily eat your ice cream! Just remember to bring extra napkins if it's a hot summer day Thanks Heyn's for a great after dinner snack.

All time favorite place to get a variety of ice creams! They have so much to choose from! They have plenty of outdoor seating or walk across the street to the park!

Yum! Try a little bit of everything -- you won't be disappointed! Heyn's is a great little ice cream shop with helpful and kind employees. We tried the monster mash, blueberry cheesecake, coconut, chocolate covered cherry, and a few others. They were all high quality, rich and delicious! We will be back to give the other flavors a try and find our favorite!

We love coming to this place for incredible ice cream. The servings are bountiful and the quality of ice cream is fantastic. It's a really fun place to bring kids and the old building is clean and fun to sit in. This is a great business and a perfect location in North Liberty. Leaving this review makes me hungry for ice cream again! Can't wait to go back

Love this place!!! They have a huge variety of flavors and the little shop is the cutest. My favorites are brownie batter and butter pecan.

This is going to be a short review because most people like ice cream. Who doesn't like ice cream? Seriously? Would you even want to know somebody that doesn't like ice cream? I don't think so. (Shudder) If you are like most people, you should really check this place out. It has the best ice cream in the area. I would highly recommend the butter brickle. That is my all-time favorite ice cream. There are several things in this world which I take very seriously. Pizza being one of them and ice cream being another. Having said that, get ice cream from here. It's locally owned. It has really nice people working there. A great selection of ice cream. Check it out. I guarantee it will put a smile on your face

In hindsight, I should have just ordered the standard Royal Reese's. No complaints on the cookie dough blizzard though! You may not be able to tell from the picture I have included, but this location has just about every possible blizzard you can think of! Now whenever I return to Iowa I can't pass by a DQ without stopping in. This past summer, as we were taking the slow road from Iowa City up to Shueyville, we spotted this place. It's located in odd little strip mall that's constructed to look more like apartments than businesses. We walked past the dog that was enjoying the remains of a shake on the sidewalk as a little girl wept nearby and entered the establishment. This DQ had everything you'd expect and want - Blizzards, Dilly Bars, banana splits, dipped cones, Peanut Buster Parfaits, etc. They also had a hot food menu with the typical stuff as well - burgers, chili dogs, chicken strips, fries, lumpia... I'm sorry, what was that last item? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the Dairy Queen in the Beaver Kreek Center in North Liberty, Iowa serves lumpia. How could we not try it? With a name like "Yolly's world famous homemade lumpia", you'd be nuts to pass it up, especially at $2.75 for 3. It's too bad we had literally just finished a pretty sizable lunch otherwise we might have gotten more than just one order. There are chicken, pork, vegetable, and cream cheese lumpia available. We ordered the pork. Folks, this stuff is legit. They were fried up fresh and came out piping hot. Wonderfully crisp skin, generous in size - we absolutely loved them. We took one back to my mom and mentioned Yolly's name - it turns out they know each other from the distant past when they used to attend the same picnics. Definitely worth the trip. Oh, and the ice cream is really good too.

I ordered a jalapeño cream cheese roll that unfortunately was completely overpowered by onions -- it drowned out the other flavors. I also tried a roll with a wasabi honey sauce that just didn't work for me at all; the sweetness and wasabi combination tasted off and kind of unpleasant. The other rolls weren't bad, but they felt like they were missing some texture -- a bit of crunch would have made a big difference. That said, the ingredients seemed fresh and the presentation was nice. I'd consider giving it another try and ordering differently next time.

In fact, this restaurant holds a special place in my wife and I's hearts as it was the location of our first date. During our most recent visit to Tin Roost, we ordered the pork tenderloin with broccoli (7.9/10) and a burger with fries (7.5/10)! We also ordered one of a few ciders that Tin Roost was offering on tap. Honestly, the food is pretty middle of the pack. The star of the show was surprisingly the roasted broccoli side. The service and ambiance was stellar during our visit. There are tons of seating options from bar side, high tops, booths, tables, and a big patio. I am always a bit shocked at the price at the end of the meal, it is pretty expensive. I also don't like that you never get to see your itemized bill, the server uses the mobile payment machines and all you see is the overall total on the screen.
