We had a mostly positive, if awkward experience at Hexenwerk. We visited in October during the Coronavirus pandemic, and had just been hiking on the nearby mountain when we came in around one in the afternoon. We were promptly seated, but warned that the nearby tables of senior citizens were having their weekly bridge game and could sometimes be ornery (they weren't).
We had looked at the menu online before coming, and it seemed to have lots of great options. When we arrived, though, there was a heavily edited menu of "snacks" available. It seems like pre-pandemic, they had a buffet for brunch (or lunch), so maybe this snack menu was the compromise.
I had the Elsasser Flammkuchen, which was pretty good. My daughter had the currywurst, which looked good. They also have an ice cream parlor in the restaurant, so we went overboard on dessert.
Overall, it was a good experience, if slightly disappointing because the full menu wasn't available. The service was friendly and quick, and the prices were reasonable. It's a casual and family-friendly place that I would visit again if and when they offer the full menu. read more
