This review is for the pool only, not the sports gym or the cafe.
In general, I am a fan. The location is perfect for me, and the facilities are clean, and the pool is pretty big. I like the electronic wristband system for getting in and out and also for the lockers. There are many many activities to choose from. I only have experience with the lane swim, but there are designated time for women swim, endurance and swim stroke training (I want to check that out), gay swim, and they also have nude swimming. Maybe doing laps in the nude makes you more efficient? Basically, it seems like whatever you are looking for they have it.
The cost of a drop in lane swim is EUR 3.80. You can get a pass for 12 for EUR 38, so basically 2 passes free...not a bad deal and seems to be competitive with some of the pools further away.
My only issue with this pool is the same issue I have with all pools in Holland....why why why are so many lanes dedicated to breaststroke and leisurely swim?! Where is the pool where all lanes are open to people who are training/freestyle/swim workouts? I'm not a fast swimmer by any means (I am quite). But I would like to be able to do a swim workout in a lane that is not too too slow or too too fast. Why why why are so many people doing the breaststroke?!
Truth be told, if you are looking for a pool where you can get some good swimming in (and, leisure swimming, too!) Het Marnix will suit you just fine. You may just end up in a lane with fit Dutch men that are faster than you, but if anything it is a motivator to swim faster :)
