Unfortunately, we called several times to ask questions about reservations, but their telephone voicemail is full and there is no outgoing message to identify that it's Hesperia zoo. The whole time on the way to this "ZOO" me & my bf made jokes about it being cages in someone's backyard ... "imagine it's just a bunch of animals in the back of someone's house". That's actually KIND OF what it was, but I actually enjoyed coming here and so did my kids. We got an offer on Groupon family pack of 4 for $19 & children under 2 are free. Groupon time shows 10-4pm but the actual time is 345pm-5pm. We showed up at 1pm, and had to drive around and waste time for almost 3 hours. Our tour guide was Tiffany, she was very informative on explaining everything about each individual animal. They have deer, lamb, llama, camels, a baby gator, ostrich, a zebra, a baboon, tigers, a bear, porcupine, lemurs, etc. it was a good one time experience. I reccomend read more

Took my sons here today. We had a awesome time. Definitely a hidden gem in the High Desert. They had a perfect amount of animals. My son got to feed the Camel, Wolf, Monkeys, Goats, and many more. The Zoo Keeper lady was awesome. She made sure we had a great time. A lot of their animals are on tv commercials and movies which I thought was pretty cool. For a small zoo, this was fun. You get a guided tour and most of the animals are awake and you can see them. Tip- don't wear sandals. It's not paved and you will get quite dusty. read more

We really enjoyed our visit at this zoo today. We signed up for one hour of a guided tour to feed the animals. My 5 year old really wanted to go to a zoo, but because of COVID 19, they are closed. So, this seemed like a great option. And it was! The tour was limited to a group of 10, which was our family and another. Our guide was super friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. I read the negative reviews below and feel that many of them are unfair. I could tell by the website that this was going to be small and not a typical zoo. If that's what you are looking for, then this is not for you. For me, this was better than a typical zoo experience: uncrowded, fair price, lots of attention from a knowledgeable tour guide, interactive because we got to help feed the animals in the cool of the evening. If you want to go to a zoo all day long in the hot summer sun with large crowds of people and have to walk from one end of the park to another, this is not your zoo. read more

Cooo lil Zoo out in the High Desert, cold day most of animals were keeping warm in the homemade shacks. The Main attraction We wanted to see was the bear hibernation time. The tour guide she was extremly nice friendly and knowledgeable on all the animals. I m not Peta nor a tree hugger animal ativist and I know very lil to none on keeping up with the Zoo animals but there habitat cages seem a bit small to me and even my 8 yr old daughter noticed. Im sure it is expensive to maintain this place but over all cages and all animal habitats were very cleaned and maintained. Disappointing! The image was very misleading. What they called a Zoo was a glorified kennel. I purchased tickets through Groupon expecting a zoo but it turned out to be someone's back yard. They told us to be 15 minutes earlier and ended up being 20 minutes late. In turn it cut into our tour time.We did not get to see all the animals. Omg! Where do I start? This was an amazing experience for my family! My kids enjoyed every single bit of the tour. My husband and I were like big kids in a candy store(we exotic animals).The tour guide was amazing she was super friendly, knowledgeable about the animals. (You can tell that she enjoy doing her job). I love all the cool names of all the animals. It was just so amazing to see these beautiful majestic exotic animals up close and personal. Had a great time with my 2 year old. If you're going to go use their website to set up a reservation and I recommend getting the feeding frenzy pass. The only thing I'd keep in mind is you have to stay pretty close to the group so if you have a child who needs to explore and can't stand in a spot for a bit you might wanna wait until they're a bit older. But overall a great little zoo! read more

We brought our one year old daughter to this zoo and this is the first time in her life to see other creatures :) The size of the zoo is very good for young kid. It has some cool animals like bear tiger and ostrich. All the animals are very active and moving around. The tour guide was very nice and informative, telling us about the interesting facts of the animals. I will bring my daughter back to this zoo when she is a little older and could understand more. Ummmmm..... so I have mixed feelings. Came here today with my fiancé and our two small children. While it was fun, I felt it was extremely rude that the bigger group of nothing but mainly adults was always put first. Even if we were in line to do the feeding, the tour guide would put them first before us. Every. Single. Time. Me and my fiancé didn't get to feed any of them because we helped our kids- but uhh, we bought tickets for all for of us to do the feeding. When I tried to say I wanted to do it, we were overlooked. However, Donnelle (the OTHER tour guard not in charge of feeding the animals) was an extremely friendly and informative tour guide. It was fun to see the animals. It was fun to kind of feed the animals. Just thought it was rude that our smaller less important group kept getting booted at every chance. I also felt the enclosures were FAR too small for the animals. I'm no activist, trust me, but those cages were tiny as hell. Kind of felt bad. ‍ Honestly would love to get my money back for the feeding frenzy I paid for, for my fiancé and I who fed exactly 0 animals. :) read more

We drove all the way here from San Diego to do the feeding tour and it was just OK. I'd maybe visit again if in the area but to drive there and back again just to visit the zoo isn't worth it in my opinion. When we pulled up the first thing my kids asked is "Is this IT"? The place is really small, when you consider they have big cats, a bear and other large animals, you'd expect a decent size zoo. The cages for the big animals are way too small. A bear living inside a cage smaller than my bedroom is unacceptable. A couple of the big cats didn't really want to come out and do anything as well as the bear so we didn't even get to see everything. As we left, we all grabbed a soda and I started feeling horrible pains in my stomach. Come to find out my soda expired in June 2019 and my sons in June of 2020. Not sure about the 3rd can because my son thought it tasted weird so we chucked it at the gas station. If someone gets sick from consuming expired stuff from them, that's a potential law suit. Thankfully I grabbed a huge water at the gas station and diluted my belly ASAP and never got sick other than the gut wrenching pains. read more

This is a very small zoo that has many animals from movies and things like that. The cool thing that I like is that we can see the animals from the street in the way to my kids school. How many kids get to see lions before they go to school? Not very many I am going to assume. The zoo has some trees around it but it doesn't block the view of the animals. The zoo has stingy hours and they are only open during the weekend. I recommend everyone should check this place out because kids love it. They even do birthday parties and special events. It is pretty cheap to get in and they have tshirts for sale and feeding packages available. I just really wish they were open during the week or during school vacation. It would be a fun thing to do with the kids and it's close to home. read more

My girlfriend and I were trying to figure out something to do on a saturday. We were about to head down the hill when we found out that there was a zoo right in Hesperia! We drove right to it, you can't miss it, it has a big sign that says "HESPERIA ZOO" Its 7 dollars per adult and totally worth it! At first you think its just a few animals, but then you start going around and find tigers and a lion and monkeys. Its great! the employees are really nice and the tour takes about 30 and after its done you can chill and hang out with the animals in the front. Our family recently visited the heperia zoo and everyone had fun especially my son who loves animals. We were lucky we got a private tour because we were the only ones there at the time. The lady who did our tour was funny and very knowledgeable. She did a really god job talking about each animal and answering questions. We had a great time today at this little zoo. We recently moved to Hesperia and we are trying to experience everything we can with our little one. We truly enjoyed our visit and since we were the only ones there at 11am we had a private tour. Our tour guide was very informative and entertaining. They had a lion, tigers, and a bear oh my. My one year old enjoyed feeding some of the animals. The only thing that bothered my Hubby was their "greeter" Doe-Nut. The little doe kept trying to eat our clothes and kept bothering our daughter. Animals + High Desert + Twilight Zone = Hesperia Zoo. This place is super fun, but it's not the kind of place you'd go on a regular basis because of the guided tour. I will say, the tour guides mix it up and always have different things to share and tell the guests. I have always wanted them to sell some sort of annual pass that would allow us to roam as desired, and see the animals more regularly. But the fairly rehearsed tour, makes it somewhat repetitive, so we usually only go about once a year. Fun nonetheless, and I'll always enjoy ignoring and then giving that darn baboon one last look that will keep him from flipping out. I will say, this is not the kind of place you'd let your little ones run loose in. The fences and enclosures don't look quite zoo worthy, but are effective. I usually hold the kids hands and keep them close. This is a neat location, with a fun story, and every animal has serious character. I'm sure the behind the scenes tour is gritty and exciting. Always a treat. If you live in the desert, you must go! Might not be worth anything longer than a 30 minute drive though. read more

Horrible, no way to reach anyone from the location. Called 7 times to verify it was open since google was saying it was close on the time we were booked for, nobody answered. Couldn't even try to reschedule or confirm they were open so we missed it pretty much wasted/threw away money. Never again. 80$ for my family trip wasted. read more

This place is not only unsanitary, but I feel like the animals are in the saddest enclosures possible. There is no reason to have these big exotic animals stuck in small cages that aren't even big enough to run in. Hell my domesticated dogs and cats have bigger spaces to live in. The animals look dirty and unkempt. So sad that people feel the need to imprison animals for their own gain. Will not be returning. read more

Not a fancy zoo, only 10 acres with a limited selection of animals in small areas in Hesperia. BUT..... the information from guide, Tiffany and the ability to get up close and safely to animals made it more than worth the drive. With a lifetime of zoo visits and many Animal Planet shows, thought we knew it all, but we learned so many facts we were unaware of previously from Tiffany - great tour guide!!!! At the end, she told us that was only her 2nd tour, we would have thought her 100th!! This is one very knowledgeable and personable young lady!! You may read that you cannot wander around by yourself and that is good. The information and anecdotes during the tour make the visit more than worthwhile!! Thank You Hesperia Zoo! read more

We were a little unsure of what to expect but we had a great time! With 3 rambunctious boys, (ages 5,8,11) it's hard to find something to do that keeps them all entertained and interested, and this zoo visit did the trick. Boys were very intrigued & asking questions. I definitely recommend the doing the feeding frenzy! You get to feed a porcupine, tiger, white tiger, camel, jaguar, & monkey. The address is 19038 Willow Street, not the one shown above. This zoo is an adjunct to a business of domestic movie animals so is educational as well as helping to keep the exotic animals. We've been there for a couple of special events, (Birthday Party, Wedding) and several tours over the past 5 years. Each time they have worked to upgrade everything for the animals. This trip among the construction projects are larger facilities for the bear and the lion. Two of the animals we saw today were rescues from people who had taken wild animals out of the environment illegally (bobcat & a skunk) and found out that isn't the best idea for people without training. Animal training done here is all operant conditioning / reward based learning which is very progressive. This is not a breeding facility but a family based business where everything is done first for the individual animals care. I was impressed by the triple enclosures to insure the safety of the animals and keepers as well. This size facility is perfect for younger children who just don't have the attention span or energy for a full size animal zoo or park. It is also small enough for elderly to not have so far to ambulate. They are hosting a summer camp for 6-10 year old children that will teach about each continent as well as the wildlife. We are huge fans of wildlife and enjoy them getting the attention and care they deserve by trained caring people. Here you can get very close to the individual animals to appreciate their beauty. read more

My son is 8 and in a wheelchair. Although my 2 year old and i enjoy this place. It is not wheelchair friendly. And i mean i get it its a small business and probably cant afford full ada compliance but a ramp in the front to just get in would be helpful. They did help me carry the wheelchair with him in it over the rocks but still it was a hassle. I had to leave him and go fetch an employee to help me which is not something i liked to do. If you or your family members are not in a wheelchair then this is a place a recommend for just a day out. read more
