I'm appalled by my experience with Hertz in West Babylon. Terrible customer service and denied a vehicle even though i reserved online and showed up on time for my reservation. I was told that there was nothing they could do for me since THEY overbooked. I then continued to receive communications from Hertz saying I was late to pick up and late to return my rental and that I may incur fees. Because of this situation, I had to take what was left over at enterprise right before they closed and paid hundreds more. When I emailed Hertz and complained, they offered me $25 off, a slap in the face since it would require adding funds to rent a future vehicle and is completely useless. I was able to rent a car while mine was being repaired locally. All encounters with staff was pleasant. A busy location but that I got a car the same day and the wait time was very reasonable. Kudos to Caesar,Anissa(hope I have the right spelling) and Rafeed. The day I returned the car was not only processed quickly, I was able to get a lift from Rafeed to my repair shop (less than 10 min away from Hertz)which I felt was very generous. I would rent from this location again, especially due to its proximity to where I live. read more

They have a large selection most of the time but during peak season (summer) cars may be limited. Anisa Velazquez is the worst at doing her job she is the district manager of every hertz in Suffolk county she's completely rude, arrogant and racist rented multiple over 11 cars within six months from them and had two problems two separate occasions day after day because of her walked in to rent a car that was already paid for ahead of time and she stopped the guy from letting me rent the car to go. He's not renting any car unless his paid tab is paid. Meanwhile, my last card given back that was rented for an additional 12 days I paid the tab in full. I have never seen such a poorly run business. I usually use enterprise, who is so professional but wanted to try Hertz this time. I can't even count up the time that I have taken from my day to personally go(driving 40 min total) and called 8 times. when I came, Luciano acted like a professional, assuring me the excess pending charges would be taken off. he did ntow ant to take the time to help then and each time, making excuses to put this off. working in sales myself, I was appalled by this put off, but trusted this guy. when I finally called the 8th time, as now there were 2 xtra bogus charges, Luciano said again the same thing. Before renting from this location I checked out a few others in the area. This location had the largest selection and they were able to pick me up and drop me off. First off I went there a week before the rental date. They were nice and allowed me to see the cars they had. The morning of the rental I arrived around 8am and they were already bustling. The pick up process was smooth and fast. The nice younger woman was able to pick me up at home and I drove her back to the location. Flawless so far. The reason I rented was because my truck is about 15mpg and I was spending Christmas in Florida. For anyone reading this in Long Island why put miles on your own car when you can rent one that gave me 35 to 39mpg. I rented a Kia Optima. So 3500 miles later their car was perfect. No issues whatsoever and very comfortable for a long drive. I decided to return the car one day early and the Hertz customer service line took care of that since it was after hours. On the return day I arrived at 735am on 12.30.19 They open at 730am. There employees were in the office and all three greeted me when I walked in. They were ready for their day and I was checked out super fast. They kept the same price they quoted me and then the gentleman dropped me home. This entire transaction was just perfect and I really want to thank the employees of West Babylon Hertz for making a Christmas trip so amazing. read more

I was forced to rent a car when my car had a minor accident and it had to go to the body shop. The rental was brokered by the body shop and I didn't really know who I was renting from so I didn't check the reviews first. The car they gave me ( a gray Kia Optima) smells heavily of cigarette smoke, is very dirty and had less than half tank of fuel, but was mentioned in the rental agreement as half full. I called back the same day and asked them for a replacement. They said that they don't have anything available. They promised to call the next day. They never called. I checked online and they had many cars available. So I called again the next day and complained again. They couldn't care less. The person I spoke to lied freely and said he is aware of the car that I had and had no smell of smoke in it. He also said that they might have other cars available but they will not give them out as replacement. Horrible !!! read more

I broke down with my car yesterday. This was the closet car rental to where I was. When I called, I told the gentleman who answered the phone that I could be there by 6pm (their closing time). He told me he didn't know if he had a car available to give me. I asked him when he would know since I was already on my way there. He told me "5:58pm". I came in to pick up a rental car my husband had reserved for me for my weekend in NY to visit family. I came in and noone had greeted me. They were very busy understandably. The man that helped me was very patient and helpful. My car was available before the time I was told it would be. When I got in the car however I smelled like cigarettes which was unexpected. Car drove great however and had most of a tank of gas but it was out of windshield wiper fluid. I filled it up and dropped it off on the day I was meant to however. I picked up the car on a Monday morning. It smelled like someone had been smoking in it- disgusting. On my way to work I was rear ended at a red light. I immediately called the West Babylon location, where I had picked up the car, thinking they would send another one. They were not at all interested in helping me, and they said that I had to go to JFK to get a replacement car, but I had to take a cab there because the tow truck driver wasn't allowed to bring me. I found my way to work and spent the whole day on the phone with Hertz. One representative said that after the car arrived at JFK (where they bring damaged vehicles), a local Hertz could send a replacement car. Great! But somehow it took the entire day for the car to get to JFK and be checked into the system. At 4 PM, I finally received confirmation that it had arrived, but that I had to find my way back to West Babylon to pick up the replacement. And to top it all off, I found out today that the West Babylon employee who originally rented the car to me double charged me for the insurance. And when I called Hertz to inquire about the extra charge, they said "No, that's not us." The insurance company confirmed that it WAS Hertz, but they refunded it. The guys at the West Babylon location seem, on the surface, friendly and helpful. But it's all fluff, because as soon as you have a REAL problem, they don't care. I will NEVER use any Hertz again. As we are trying to get our daughter to college, things got complicated with the car rental. We had budgeted ourselves so we were able to rent a car. When my wife booked the reservation, through Travelocity, they did not inform her of the $200 deposit. Which in hand, exceeded our budget. After spending over an hour on the phone with Hertz customer service, we decided to cancel the reservation. The W Babylon location was about to close and to our delight, Anissa stayed and helped accommodate us. I reserved a Ford Fusion or similar car two weeks ago. I also asked to get a free pick up at 10:45am. On Friday I stopped at the location to tell them about the pick up on Saturday. No one showed up by 10:55 on Saturday so I called and the response was they only had two people working and could I wait and they would pick me up in a little while. About 11:20 they picked me up and drove me to the rental location. When I got there they only had Kia Soul for me. To small for my use. I worked out and didn't rent from them. I absolutely LOVE renting from this Hertz in Babylon. I get picked up from the train station and the employees never leave me waiting for even one minute. At the store it could not go smoother. Mike and Sean are fast, smart and quite entertaining. Every car I've received is cleaned within an inch of its life and they try to give me the best car they can. Although I had a reservation I still had to wait while they found a car for me and washed it. I reserved a mid-size and they only had a compact which they tried to tell me it was the same size. I called later to try and get it changed. They told me to come in and get the right car, however, when I called to let them know I would be in later I was told they didn't have any cars and would call me back when they did. They called me at about 5 pm to let me know a car was ready. When I arrived there was much confusion and I waited about 10 minutes for an upgraded vehicle. Terrible experience. I waked in to an empty store. A staff member then showed up after about 5 minutes of waiting in an empty office. He told me the car I reserved was not available so they would give me something similar. Overall the process took over a half hour just to get the car because it was not on site and would need to be cleaned when it arrived. The worst part is that they let me drive out with a flat tire indicator light on and did not mention anything to me. I pulled over and called the store they told me that they knew the light was on and it was "because of the cold weather." About 15 minutes later I got out to check the tires myself and found a nail. I called again, and went back to return the car. Not only was the customer service terrible, but the negligence of the staff is completely unacceptable. I wasted an hour of my life for a car I couldn't even rent. I would ride a bicycle before I ever attempted to rent from Hertz again. read more

STAY AWAY!!! I brought my car to a local body shop for repairs after a recent accident which was being handled through the other driver's insurance. They approved a rental car for me and a car was brought to me from this Hertz location. I signed a contract for a $100 deposit, (foolishly) used a debit card for the security hold and a week and a half later saw that they had erroneously charged me an additional $100. When I called the staff was clueless and said that there was nothing that could be done and that everything would be resolved once I returned the rental and the funds were returned. Fine. Two days later I see ANOTHER charge, this time for $500+ dollars. Now I am dealing with the nightmare of Hertz's staff AGAIN. They are rude and unprofessional when I call, even telling me they'll call back and never following through. I spoke with only one manager who was apologetic at best, but still at a loss for how to help me. The body shop Made a reservation day before hand for my wife to pick up a mid size to full size car. I called and was assured they would have one for her. When she showed up they only had a compact car for her to take, nothing else. The car was also on empty-she had to stop at the first gas station or she would have run out of gas, Lucky she had cash on her for gas. They weren't very helpful in trying to get her anything else, and acted like they couldn't care less. I've rented in the past from here, and they were very good. I was in a car accident and unfortunately I did not have rental reimbursement coverage on my policy. The body shop I went to use this Hertz office for customers. The first week I rented a car it was $25 a day plus tax. That went fine. The following week I had to rent another car because my car was not done yet. Because they did not have many cars in their lot they decided to up the price five dollars. I reminded them of the deal they had with the body shop and they did not care. They try toexplain to me the concept of supply and demand. They just arbitrarily raised the price. Ridiculous. When they signed me up they try to say that if I did not get their insurance coverage that I would not be covered if something happened. That's a lie. They put the nine dollars per day amount on the form without asking me hoping that I would just sign it and pay it. I will never use this office again. It was underhanded and unprofessional, the way they treated me. Granted it was only a five dollar difference but the point is that is the deal they made with the body shop and they should have honored it. read more

I had to drop my car off for warranty service at my dealership. They hooked me up with a Hertz rental. Worst experience ever. Hertz left me waiting for an hour and a half from 8:30 am until 10 am for them to come and get me , while I was supposed to be going to work. When they finally showed up there was another client in the car that he picked up along the way. By the time we got back to West Babylon it was 10:15. After filling out the paperwork we finally go outside to the car and it's raining out. I have to stand there while he takes pictures of the car... Fine , that's understandable. Then he says maybe you would like to wait inside while I vacuum it.. Really? After already being 2 hours late for work they don't have a clean car for me. Unreal. I said forget it.. just please give me the keys. I get in and start driving away in the rain and thought the windows were fogged.. put on defrost.. but no.. it was filth.
